Holy moly! My little Nora is weighing in at a whopping 4 lbs 13 ounces.... I am 32 weeks! all you moms out there does this seem big for still having 55 days left??? She was measuring 1 week ahead too. I am wondering how much more she will gain....my doctor did not say she was too big...she is 87th percentile. What do you think?

At 28w2d my LO measured at 29w5d with an estimated weight of 3lb 3oz. Dr said she's in the 90th percentile. She said not to worry, hubby is big so LO will most likely be big as well.
I thought it was a little funny, the tech tried to tell me my EDD was off due to LO's size, but I informed her that since we had IUI I was most definately sure of when I got pg and that my EDD is accurate.

Well they supposedly gain 1/2 a lb a week now, so that would put her in a healthy range by 40 weeks if she gains 3-4 more lbs.
By the way, how does your dr know how much she weighs? I would really like to know mine. I asked my dr at my last appointment and she said that he 'looked about right'. Should my Dr be telling me?

FINALLY!!! After 7 years of infertility!
I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question, but how do you all have such estimates of how big LO is? Are you all having growth ultrasounds or is your OB just really good at guessing by feel? I have only seen the midwife in my OB's practice so far and she hasn't said a thing in regards to LO's size so I was just wondering... Thanks ladies!
I've been having growth ultrasounds, since she has been running big.

Yes, the size is determined through ultrasounds. During the u/s the tech measures things such as the baby's head circumfrence, spine length and the lenght of the thigh bone. All these measurements are used to calculate gestational age and weight. They also measure the amount of fluid between the wall of the uterus and the baby to determine if your levels are correct.
The measurements aren't always accurate. My friend had a u/s a couple of days before her son was born and was told he'd be over 9 lbs. He was 7lb 5 oz at birth.

This. Something similar happen to a friend of mine. Don't let the weight estimates scare you too much ladies, chances are good they're not very accurate. And even if LO is on the big side now, doesn't mean he won't slow down a bit closer to delivery and be in a good healthy weight range.
I haven't either. I am under the impression that they are only done for women who are higher risk (GD, for example) or had a small/large baby previously.
