I see all of the replies here, RRCRAZ7 and I can't be the only ones who have practiced stretching. I'm really just trying to get more advice and info on this, so if you've done it please reply or message me. I still have some unanswered questions.
And WE still have unanswered questions. . . like, where did you hear this? I mean, why not just buy a baby doll to practice with. . . it would be more realistic.
What happens if you end up needing a c-section?
Hopefully I won't need a c-section. I've read about massaging and preparing down there for birth. DH and I talked about it and he introduced the idea of stretching apparently its popular in the fetish culture. Some women have stretched a great deal and can fit very large objects. We aren't doing it to that point but we feel it may help ease birthing to stretch things a bit.
Oh. My. God.
This post has now made it all over the Nest. Is anyone really this dense? And OP, have you not realized that every single person here is making fun of you? "Some women have stretched a great deal and can fit very large objects?" I almost threw up I laughed so hard. Wow.
Seriously. Do some kegels or something. No need for a fist up your twat.
Holy Sh!t, this just made my night! I have been laughing so hard that my son just shhh'ed me because he couldn't hear Mickey Mouse Clubhouse over my snorts of laughter.
OP, a big ole' , er I mean fist pump. Well done, well done.

Wow! I have to admit I never thought about fisting and I would like to keep it that way. Bring on the epidural and the kegals what will happen will happen

I'm having triplets so we're working our way up to three fists. We have an ad up on Craigslist for a fist helper since obviously DH only has two.
My OB/GYN says my vagina is very elastic and the fisting isn't working as quickly as we'd hoped so at the moment I'm actually looking for a clamp or something I can put it in and hold it open with. I'll start for a few seconds and work up the time day by day.

In my birthing class with DS they suggested stretching the peritoneum ( I think that's what it's called) the lower end of your vag on top of your taint. And I tried it once.. it felt weird and I stopped doing it.. but lemme tell you had I known I would get a 3rd degree tear I would have tried the fisting! haha! Seriously though almost going from 2 holes to 1 is scary.. and having to be sewn up is no fun! So if you can sleep easier knowing you tried everything to prepare go big and go for the fist! haha! GL and I hope it helps!
All I can say is a big fat thank you for making my day pass a little quicker. This thread has given me so much to think about...things around my house I can use to prevent tearing during childbirth. Glasses, vases, candles, spatulas...DH is going to be sooo excited!

...this is almost as ridiculous as the OP. And it's the perineum that you're referring to, not the peritoneum. Unless they told you to stretch the lining of your abdomen, and I'm not sure how that would help during childbirth at all.

Despite all of the negative comments this thread has generated, there -is- something to be said about this kind of stretching to reduce tears during childbirth. Has anyone heard of an EPI-NO? There is actually a medical device that well.. basically stretches you out. You can read more about it here:
My childbirth instructor was at one point going to be a sales rep for these devices and sings their praises. Personally I did stretching in anticipation for my own birth and had no tearing.
