  • Hey Ladies... I'm Sarah. I have a 7 year old step son, a 5 year old daughter, and just found out I'm 5 weeks preggie! I am cautiously optimistic, as I have had 3 miscarriages over the years :'( But this little bun seems to be tougher... and I'm having all the classic symptoms. Sore breasts, super moody and emotional (more than usual LOL), crampy, etc.

I calculated my due date around May 14, 2012. I have not told my doc, as I am considering going with a birth center / midwife this time around. I managed to deliver my daughter completely drug free, despite the hospital's attempts to make that as difficult as possible on me :( This time I am thinking of avoiding them all together. Thoughts?

  • We just found out today. This is a first for us too! I did not have any morning sickness (YET). The only major thing I've noticed is fatigue and major mood swings. Does anyone have any advice? We are both super excited but have NO idea what to expect!
  • I'm excited! My husband and I are both looking forward to having this baby, which will be our first. I'm scared because of the high percentage of possible miscarriage that could happen but i'm hoping it all goes well. It's nice to know some people are in the same stage as I am and are feeling some of what I am as well. Good luck to everyone!
  • Wow!  Can't believe we are actually doing this!  My husband and I have been married 6 years (as of Sept 3rd) and just started trying to get pregnant last month!  I guess it worked!  I took a home pregnancy test on the 10th (positive) and went into the doctor for a blood test on the 15th (also positive!)!  It seems that we are on our way!  I have had a little nausea, light headedness, and been very tired!  Oh, and I have to pee all the time!  I guess that is all normal, but it is still weird knowing that there is something growing inside of me already!  We are very excited, very nervous, and waiting to tell for awhile!  It is so hard to keep the secret as I want to tell everyone, especially our families, but we know as soon as one of them knows, they all will know!  We just want to make sure everything is going well before we get too far!  How about all of you?  Have you told anyone/everyone?  Any cool ways to tell a first time grandmother who will be more than excited??
  •  Hi,

I'm 5 weeks pregnant and found out last week. I was having nausea for the past couple weeks but that seems to have gone. The main thing for now is heavy, sore breasts....man! So not cool! lol  They hurt when I have no bra on. Other than that, I don't really have any other pregnancy symptoms...yet. Congrats to all you ladies and I wish you a healthy and happy 9 months :-).

  • I just found out today, but I made a purchase back in February when we quit BC.  I bought a pretty little silver fortune cookie.  I plan to take my parents to dinner and have them pull out the fortune, which will say "You will soon be grandparents." with the due date as the "lucky numbers" on the back.  I don't know what gave me the idea, but I think my mother will get a big kick out of it.  She has been DYING to have a grandchild and will be besider herself.
  • I started trying to get pregnant last month too.  :-)  Did the test on the 13th of September just for the heck of it, and it was POSITIVE!  The line was somewhat faint so I retook the test the following morning (4:30am) just to be sure and the line was much darker.  I had the blood test on the 15th also.  Positive!  I am so excited, but I have only told my sister, best friend, husband, and 4 ladies at work.  I want to tell everyone but I am so nervous!!!  I am afraid I will miscarry or whatever else bad that can happen.

Sometimes I have cramps in my stomach, and boob pains, and other times I feel fine, which makes me nervous.  Ugh!  Why did I find out so soon???  When I first found out, I did notice I was peeing a lot.  When is your first appt with obgyn?

  • I couldn't wait to tell my family! I figured, even if something did happn I would need my moms support so I told her this wk-end, it was awesome! and I am so glad she knows so I have her to share every detail with. She is my best friend, but as for everyone else we are waiting till after the first ultra sound which is just 13 days away! Praying for a strong heart beat.  As far as symptoms I am totally exhausted! I think some of my other symptoms are really side effects from the prenatal vitamins. Like the constipation and burping and overall gassy feeling. I am trying hard to drink lots of water but I am finding it difficult getting enough down throughout the day. What kind or prenatals are you taking and is there much of a difference in brands?

I'm also a first time mom and i found out about a week ago. I was very nervous to also tell my family. My boyfriend is also very supportive and he helped me through telling them. I know it may seem very hard and scary at first, but they'll always be there to support you. Although we've only told our parents, siblings, and grandparents that's still a big step and scary. We're not telling the rest of the family until I'm at least 12 weeks. It was a shock to me how supportive they were about it. I'm not sure how old you are, but I'm 21 and living on my own. That may have made it easier for them to see that I do know how to take care of myself. Needless to say it's been nothing less of a roller coaster and I'm only 5 weeks. There are some very important things that you're family can help you through. As in, making doctors appointments, knowing what to eat, knowing if it's right to feel the way you are, etc. It's better to get it from someone you know/a website like this rather than just something that you google. I'm here for you if you ever want to talk. :)

  • My husband and I were TTC for 5 months. We finally got the great news that we were pregnant 3 days ago!! So far we have not told anyone, but it's so difficult to keep the secret. We are going to tell my parents any day (when the moment is right). We are also going to tell my siblings when we see then which should be in another week or so.

I am totally torn over telling people so early. On one hand, we are thrilled and want to share, but on the other I am worried something will go wrong. It's so soon. We don't have a Dr. appointment until my 8th week (which I am told is normal). I think after that Dr. appointment we will tell the rest of our immediate families and friends! I don't plan to tell work until 12 weeks.

  • I have know now for two weeks, and I couldn't keep it to myself. My hubby and I decided not to wait to tell people because if the baby is meant to pass it will and it will be an awkward situation either way, so why not be happy and tell everyone? We had a death of a baby in our family not to long ago and it is a very hard thing to have to deal with. So if people know we are pregnant it will be easier to cope with if you have family and friends that can relate and help you through it, because they knew of the coming baby. The hardest thing that I have had to deal with is the lack of support/excitement from my mother and step-father, and the complete opposite reaction from my In-laws. I feel I have to mention that this will be my In-Laws 23rd Grand-baby, and my family's first for most and third for some (divorced and remarried so there is a lot of parents). So why the apparent lack of excitement? Its hard to be excited for my self when my mom is so down about it and hating that I will have to deliver in Alaska.
  • What kind or prenatals are you taking and is there much of a difference in brands?

I did a lot of research on the type of prenatal to use before I got pregnant and I must say that I love the brand that I chose. It is called Garden of Life (brand) Vitamin Code (type) and the name is Raw Prenatal. They also have a version that contains DHA which is a good item to supplement with but not essential. I chose this prenatal because it also contains a lot of vegetables, fruits, sprouts, and trace minerals. I particularly like this brand because there are no fillers, preservatives, or dyes. The nutrients are also not heated or heavily processed which of course lowers the potency. I also like that they don't make me sick. The only down side is that they are on the upper end of the price scale, but if you want the best these would be it. You can find them at gardenoflife.com or at most health stores and whole foods.  I found mine on sale for 31.29 at whole foods and the bottle is a month supply, so not to bad. I'm hear if you have any questions about these prenatal pills.

  • If you go by, what not to do, some of them things are just unbelievable. Just don't do things that are seriously harmful; like alcohol, smoking, pop, etc. And other things are common sense! Ya know, but just wait till after your birthday, Most people dont show at 5 weeks, I know I never with my first or am now, at 5 weeks. And I ended up being the size of an elephant by the time I was due with my first! but if you wait till after the first week of november, you will have been to the OBGYN by then and know if things are going okay, etc. And then you can spill the news : ) Goodluck!
  • I totally know what you mean! I just barely found out this morning and haven't even confirmed it with a blood test (will be doing that tomorrow) My biggest fear is getting my hopes up and then something happening. Good Luck with keeping the secret...I'm about to burst!

  • Hi everyone, I'm 5 weeks pregnant. We found out at the end of my 3rd week. I was 2 days late on my period when I took my HPT, which I was on the phone with my Mother when it said positive, and proceeded to say " mom I have to go, something came up " .

I spent the next half hour staring at the stick, then the half hour after that trying to text a picture to my DH. I then had some juice and took another HPT. Can we say shock!!!! ????!!!

Four HPT later, I made an appt to see my OB which isn't until Nov 8th..

I'm really nervous and so tired all the time. I have to use the bathroom every 30-45 minutes. If I don't drink water I get dizzy, if I don't eat every 45 min (a small snack, like carrots) I get nauseous. Is this suppose to happen so early?

  • I'm pregnant with my second baby and am also 5 weeks along. I was very excited when I found out and immediately started telling my loved ones. I had complications with my first pregnancy, but am blessed she's here. Each pregnancy isn't the same and has different outcomes. Just tell everyone when you feel most comfortable, but don't wait until it's time for the baby to come. (lol) Keep your head up and enjoy your pregnant body.
  • Hi everyone!

My fiance and I found out last week that we are unexpectedly expecting our first child.  Needless to say this past week has been super challenging with trying to figure out what's the next step etc.  Today is my doctors appointment to confirm everything that the ER confirmed last weekend and to make sure there was no SAB.  As nervous as I am I have so many questions and concerns I hope they can answer them all!!!

  • My husband and I just found out on Saturday that we are expecting! I have been having odd cramping every 30-90 minutes which I find weird but my sister-in-law says it's from my body trying to get ready for the growing baby? I have very sore, firm breasts too. They hurt so bad that I can't sleep without a sportsbra on. OMG. Also, like the most of your, I've been extremely tired! I haven't had any morning sickness and little nauseasness BUT have been extremely hungry all the time, is this normal? Or has anyone else experienced this?? I have a feeling that I am further along than 5 weeks, maybe like 7 or 8? Although, we will not find out until we see the OB. Anyone have any ideas or tricks how to relieve the cramping or hunger?? This is our first child and it's all so weird!!! LOL

Good luck to all expecting mommies!

  • Hi, my husband and I had to turn to in vitro and this is my first pregnancy so I am very nervous. I have back pain and my legs are sore especially when I wake up!
  • Congrats!  i just found out on Friday December 30th that I'm pregnant with my 1st.  Totally unexpected but I am really excited!  Also very very nervous...  :)  I'm having slight cramps and little pains in my tummy and have read that its normal but still very nerve wracking.  Especially when my OB won't see me until I'm 8 weeks which is in 3 weeks.  It seems like FOREVER away!

  • My husband and I found out Dec. 22 that we are expecting. This will be our third pregnancy, but our first child.

I went to the doctor yesterday and got an u/s (previous ectopic) and we saw the gest. sac and yolk sac. I was so thrilled to see that! Never had the chance to see it before. My doc is guessing that I am 5w4d today, according to my LMP I should be 6w5d. I honestly think I O'd late in the month.

As for symptoms, I have just had sore boobs/nipples and very tired! A little before I found out, I had slight nausea, but not anymore.

  • Hi Mommy's to be....

It's so comforting to come here and read about what everyone is going through.  I also have sore breasts, cramping, and fatigueness.  No nausea or vomitting, so I hope that isn't in the coming weeks, LOL!  My husband and I just confirmed with our Doctor on Monday. We are 5 weeks pregnant.  Still really early, but I'm praying God blesses us and keeps our lil appleseed safe and healthy.  We are looking forward to telling our families.  What an exciting time for all of us!  Good luck with you all and keep me posted on how things go....Wink

I am also 5 weeks. I have a 9 month old and an 8 year old. I am very nervous about the closeness in age that the two younger ones will be. I just keep reminding myself that I am strong enough to do all of this! I am sure it will be an awesome adventure but the unknown is always a little scary. I am sure that you will be fine ....both you and I will. They grow up so quickly and now our children will always have someone close in age for them to always play with:-) built in best friends! Best of luck to you momma!
  • So while I was home from working out of state on hiatus, my husband and I decided to start trying for #2 before #1 gets too much older. Well I had the IUD out on Jan 4th and we didn't get a chance to try until the morning I left to go out of town for 7 weeks on Jan 7th.  We seriously only tried one time, and I had no idea where I was in my cycle because it had been so messed up, but...It worked. First try. Last time we did two rounds of Clomid. I surprised him by sending him a custom jelly belly tin that said " I was going to pee on a stick and send it to you. That would be gross. This is better. Congratulations We're Pregnant" He opened it while we were on face time together. He was shocked. Honestly so was I. I totally forgot we could have gotten pregnant until I noticed that my boobs were bigger in the shower around 3 1/2 weeks. By time I tested I was pretty sure. I got up to pee, at 4:30 like I have been and took the test. Ready or not here we go. I guess that we were right in deciding to go for another, I am looking forward to telling #1 once I start to show.

  • Hi ladies! I found out yesterday that I am roughly 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my first! I am waiting to hear back from my OB to set up my first appointment. I was planning on waiting to tell everyone until I had my first doctor visit but my husband and I have been trying for 9 months so the excitement got the best of me and I spilled the beans to our families and some close friends. I think I am still in a little bit of shock, I had almost started to give up hope! Smile

  • Hello everyone!!  I am 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant.  So excited!!  Was on the Depo shot for 6 years after my first child (who is now 8).  and was so nervous because it seemed to take forever to conceive. We have told some of my family because I couldn't help it.  Was going to wait til after my first Dr. appointment but that isn't til March 5th!

  • Hello everyone! This will be my 2nd pregnancy and my first little guy is almost 3. I had to have a c-section with him since he was a vasa previa baby. I'm hoping to go natural this time though...anyone have any experience with v-bacs or thinking about having one this time around?
  • I just found out I am pregnant today! It was completely unexpected and I've felt the full range of emotions, from denial to shock to sadness to panic and now to happiness and excitement. It still feels weird to say things like "I'm pregnant" and "we're going to be a mom and dad." I guess it hasn't sunk in completely yet. I am excited about going to the doctor and having all my millions of questions answered.

Right now I am avoiding a superbowl party because I know my best friend will know immediately when I refuse a beer lol.
