My cousin just named her daughter Ellie even though some consider it to be a nickname. If you're looking for a more "official" name, I would go with Elizabeth or Eliza.

I know 8 baby Ellie's right now and their full names are:
Ellie
Eliana (x2)
Ellis
Ellen
Elizabeth (x2)
Elliot
Seems like if they have an E and L in their name they can be called Ellie. I have a niece Ellie (short for Elizabeth) and a met a little Ellie at the park (Elliot). I also know an Eliza that goes by Ellie. I prefer Eleanor as I *think* this was the traditional fn for Ellie. I think anything goes now though.

My bf growing up went by Elli (no e at the end) her full name is Elizabeth. I recently met someone who also goes by Ellie (with an e) and her full name is Ellen.
Elizabeth was the first name that came to mine. Ellie is so pretty.

I wouldn't use it, but if I would, I'd go with Elizabeth or Eleanor. Just FYI, this exact question gets asked a lot, and there are going to be a lot of little Ellies running around.
