Storage for Frozen Breastmilk

I've just been filling up a large container in the freezer with the Gerber freezer bags, and yesterday it occured to me:

- I am running out of space...not a problem

- I use BPA free bottles, shouldn't I be using BPA free freezer thingies?!

Any suggestions?

Also, if you use the Gerber bags, do you pour them out into a bottle or do you somehow drop it into something...

Re: Storage for Frozen Breastmilk

  • I use the gerber bags and I dump them into playtex drop-ins.  I sometimes put the gerber bags right in the drop-in bottle, but it's hard to see how much milk is left.  I don't know about the BPA thing, I thought BPA was mainly in hard plastic.

  • I use the Lansinoh bags so I'm not really familiar with the Gerber ones, but are you laying them flat when you freeze them?  I had a pretty big stash that was taking up a lot of space when it dawned on me that I ought to be laying the bags flat to freeze.  They take up so much less space that way.
