And the media hype surrounding it is ridiculous.  He sent nekkid pictures of himself over the internets.  The media needs to realize this shits has been going on since the 90s and is no way a new phenomenon.

I don't understand why women who stopped smoking for 9  months while they were pregnant would start smoking again after they have had the baby. If you quit for that long then why would you start back?

    Because smoking is awesome.

    There. I said it.

I thought it was cause it makes you look cool.

Oh it totally does.  Stick out tongue

Anywho - the same could be said for people who drink.  Why drink after 9 months of not drinking? (If you chose not to drink at all while pregnant.)

Ok.  You can link your blog which can refer to your etsy shop? Right?

You can't link to a blog that ONLY advertises your shop and you can't advertise for blog giveaways. Although I've seen the latter often, it is actually against the rules.

I don't think that "naturally thin" women should ever get to have big boobs, natural or fake.  You know, the type who don't really have to diet and excersize, but are still thin, just because they were born that way?  That in and of itself is unfair, so they should be flat chested to boot.  Boobs should be reserved for those of us who have to literally starve ourselves and work out daily just to be in a size 8 or 10.

    Are you serious?

I think it is dangerous for you to assume that everyone on the Bump has the same body type as you. But, I guess this is an UO ...

    Seriously.

I have a smaller frame but it is my genetics. My mother is a small lady, her mother is a small lady, her mother's mother was a small lady. Should I have to have a flat chest because of this??

For the record, I do have small boobs. I have cried over not feeling pretty before because of them. Do you think that is a fair punishment to me?

Ok.  I see.  That's why a blog with a long list of etsy shop links wouldn't work!  I have a better understanding of why it's a rule now, but it still sucks.

I love him too. My grandmother refers to him as "that handsome homosexual that designs things"

I cannot STAND Nate Berkus.  For being a designer, he has shitty fashion sense.  His hair is awful and he always wears super tight jeans.  He doesn't act natural on TV, either.  Just UGH.

I also always think about the tsunami whenever I see him though, and I feel so bad for him.

  • Having quote issues...

I am not saying pregnant girls should get married, or get married so they could have sex.  Nor am I saying divorce is 100% avoidable. And H and I have worked things out, but there was a time where I was so frustrated I just wanted to pack my sh!t.

I think people can get to know each other without some of the 'fog' that crawls over some personalities when it comes to sex.

Speaking of fog, I don't think I am very good with words so I am not sure how clear I can be. But, in a nutshell, I think pre-marital sex, or the feelings around it, hide some of the things one would notice if they waited.

  • Prior to becoming a parent I had very strong views about direct reports wanting to work from home due to childcare issues (as in no childcare was available for some reason). Becoming a parent, and having to work from home while caring for my child has solidified my views that one cannot and likely does not effectively work to their potential if they are also caring for a child at the same time.

This is not to say that working from home cannot be done, and it should be allowed if the job can be effectively performed offsite. In fact there are times when it is necessary to work offsite. It does mean that if you are allowed to work from home and there is a child present, there should be another person present and responsible for the care of that child. If there is not, it is a lose-lose for everyone involved, your child, you and your employer.

Obviously, the exception here is if you are self-employed.

If you have a loan for more than 3 years on a car, you are either buying too much car for your budget or you didn't save enough for the down payment. Does this make me a hypocrite? Yes, but I've learned my lesson since buying my first new car in my early 20's, and I won't make the same mistake twice.

I disagree. I bought my first car in 09 and financed it for 5 years and put down a substantial amount. We could afford to finance it for 3 years but we chose not to. I ended up paying it off in a year and a half so just because you don't finance a vehicle for 3 years does not mean you are irresponsible or didn't save enough for a down payment.

Maybe someone can explain to me what the point is in financing a car for that amount of time then? Paying any interest seems like a waste of money. I'd much rather buy my car outright.

Because I don't have $18k sitting in my back pocket. I have about 10 grand but that's our emergency cash fund. I'd rather be able to finance and still have a large chunk in savings so if we lost our jobs we could continue to pay for our rent, cars, etc. I'd rather be able to live for a few months that way than only being able to live in our car because that's the only thing that's paid off.

Disagree. But I also have a view on marriage that, in general, seems unpopular.

My H was my 'first', and though leaving his lazy arse has crossed my mind I never would and never could and he will be my 'last'.

Marriage is taken too lightly anymore, and I think having sex before marriage only says "eh, it's just marriage, nothing worth saving anything for."

I have seen too many girls around here think they need to have sex with a guy to keep him, only to get pregnant and realize how worthless the guy was.  It breaks my heart and I wish I could shake some sense into them and say "if he is worth it, he will love you regardless!!"

I guess my UO is that I like Oprah. I haven't watched the show in years, but I think she's a pretty cool chick. She came from practically nothing, worked her way up in TV not by being thin or pretty or artificial, but by being relatable and smart and a good business person. She defined a television genre,  built an empire and regularly gives back to communities here and abroad. She got a nation of women to turn off All My Children and pick up a book.

I think bumpies should be able to post a link to their etsy shops in their siggys.  I don't have an etsy shop, but I love etsy and I don't get why it's such a big deal.  I'm still waiting for someone to explain this rule to me.  Putting a link in a siggy is not hounding anyone to buy anything.  You can go to the link or ignore it.  So there ya go!

In my opinion, it's a slippery slope.  Yeah, there are us regs who could have link to our cute tiny Etsy shops.  But if they allowed that, than any business or company can create a profile and link their business in their siggy.  They can then spam the boards as they wish and nobody here wants that.  So the TOS forbid any and all direct advertising to prevent this from happening.  And it's not fair to us bumpies who respect the TOS for other bumpies to just ignore it and advertise their shops.

What bumpies can do is link to their blog, which then has a link to their shop, provided that their blog's content isn't used to just advertise their shop.

I totally understand what you're saying.  Is there a way to allow some, but not all?  Maybe not, but it would be nice to be able to support other bumpies and their etsy shops.

Would it be against TOS to compile a list of bumpie etsy shops, post that list on a blog, and link the blog from sigs? Or if not including it in the sigs, just make a simple directory that could be shared?

I think that would be allowed.  Maybe?

    Nope.
they actually have one already. so i guess it is ok.

    **steps off soapbox**

And I have seen way too many women, my own mother included, stay with a lazy azz that didn't commit to the marriage himself to the detriment of themselves AND THEIR CHILDREN.  You are setting an example to your own kids of how to be treated...I'd rather get pregnant by a lazy bum then stick up for myself and make it on my own once I realized what type of person he was (showing my child also that they don't have to put up with that) than have my kids see me stick with a lazyass who didn't pull his weight and put all of my dreams and  maybe theirs on hold as a result.

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta :P

I think chocolate-covered cherries and strawberries are amazing.

Then I'll smoke all the cigarettes you don't smoke and you can have all the chocolate covered fruit I don't eat.

    Even Steven.

As long as the cherries have that extra stuff inside ... what is it called? Not nougat ... whatever.

    Sure. It's a deal.

    Having quote issues...

I understand what you are saying and I agree with a lot of what you said in your OP.  I fell victim to the fog in my younger years but by the time I met my H I was older and more mature and was able to see past those feelings. Also, I think if you are with someone long enough the fog fades over time. I don't think any of my previous partners or my H's partners have created any baggage in our marriage. We have never even talked about our sex lives before each other. I know he had a life before me and he knows I had a life before him. Thats all we need to know.

I hate the Toyota Prius. I hate the Smart Car. Why do all environmental friendly cars have to be ugly? I could get down with driving a "greener" car if it didn't look like a suppository.

We saw this car when we lived in England. It's made by Smart Car and I believe is basically the same as the ugly azz one. Its still not great, but better than the original Smart Car.

Just thought I would let you know Smile Not sure if they sell it in the US though.

Dang it, I can't see PIPs here at work. I'll check it out when I get home!

Ah too bad. Like I said not great, but better than the original Smart Car. We saw it a few times in England and if you didn't look at the hood (to see the label or whatever you want to call it) you wouldn't realize it was a Smart Car.

    Nothing to see here! :)

I don't understand why women who stopped smoking for 9  months while they were pregnant would start smoking again after they have had the baby. If you quit for that long then why would you start back?

    Because smoking is awesome.

    There. I said it.

lol I miss smoking so bad. Go to the bars, or wherever people congregate, all of the best conversations are going on outside with the smokers.

    I honestly don't get it.

In Vegas, the Casinos were full of smoke, it was awful. I just don't understand the pleasure of chain smoking.

A person that has never smoked would not understand.

And no, I don't think chain smoking is awesome, or smoking indoors. Coming home from the casino reeking of smoke is gross. Sitting outside with a beer and a cigarette is more what I miss. That's probably the addiction talking.

Every spring that comes around makes me crave this from the depths of my soul. I look longingly from my kitchen window out at my patio furniture and reminisce about afternoons spent doing just that.

Just like an absolute insistence on not getting to know about those feelings can hide some of the issues in a relationship until after you're married and it's too late...especially if you plan to stick to a marriage even if there are major issues.

I'm not saying you, I don't know YOUR marriage.  I just know that I am a bazillion percent committed to my marriage and that experiencing all aspects of our relationship before I had a ring on my finger only made me more committed to the idea of being with DH forever.  And I have seen the other side, and in my experience it was a poor choice for that situation.  Not just my own family, several occasions.

At the end of the day it's not so much whether you have sex or not IMO.  I think it's about whether you're honest with yourself and each other and communicate openly.  You can make it either way if you can do these things successfully IMO.  It's getting hung up on something as the be-all and end-all that I'm against.

I think both are valid points.

I think what mamafox might be trying to say is that having sex early can create an illusion of closeness that isn't actually there and that can compromise really getting to know each other on a deep level. That can come back to bite you in the arse within a marriage, or a relationship in general.

Meh, you can have some of mine. I'm petite and my 32Fs just make me look fat.

Everybody has their issues. Own yours instead of pinning them on other women.
