This and Rachel Ray. A couple friends and I were going to see Rachel's talk show. One friend just had to stop and get a cup of coffee on the way to the train, we missed the train and missed getting in by 2 minutes. Rachel Ray gave everyone in the audience 2 round trip tickets to Jamaica.
I hate Rachel Ray and stupid friend.
That blows! Stupid friend! Stupid Rachel Ray for not allowing you guys in even though you were only 2 minutes late. Though I do like Rachel Ray. Her recipes are pretty tasty.
Mine may or may not be a UO. I absolutely hate hot weather. I wish it was spring or fall all year long and the temperature never rose above 60 or 65 and for the most part would stay around 50.
I get irrationally angry at anyone who complains how tired they are and how badly they slept. I don't mean other moms or dads, but my childless friends and co workers. I get up every fvcking hour many nights and don't just open my eyes then go back to sleep but actually have to take care of a baby. I'm not complaining about my sleep and do my job, you can too. Then I feel guilty because I know my suffering doesn't negate their suffering.
ETA: I guess this would have been more appropriate for FFFC. Oh well.
I don't like dressing newborns in anything other than simple outfits like onesies and footed pajamas. The thought of putting them in pants and a shirt with a jacket makes me cringe. Too much stuff for such a little body. I have so many outfits DS never wore for this reason.
I absolutely agree with this. I never dressed DD in much other than this and I kind of still don't. I once put jeans on her (she was probably 5 or 6 months) and promptly took them off. The button seemed to be cutting into her little tummy and the jeans just felt too stiff and uncomfortable.

Me too! Even now, at 9 months, I'm all about all in one outfits. He's getting big though, so it's going to get harder and harder to find all in ones that he fits in.
I don't understand why women who stopped smoking for 9 months while they were pregnant would start smoking again after they have had the baby. If you quit for that long then why would you start back?
I know that seems illogical. But as a former smoker, I can tell you it's easier said than done.
When I was PG, the very thought of a cigarette made me want to ralph, so that 9 months was pretty easy for me as far as cravings go.
But after PG, with the stress of caring for a colicky newborn and with my body returning to "normal," the cravings came back in full force. I have managed to keep them at bay, but it is very difficult. Some days are better than others.
I was a smoker as well but quit years before I had DD so I understand the cravings and wanting to release stress but I'm talking about the moms who buy a pack of cigarettes on their way to the hospital to have their child (yes, I had a friend who did this).
That is wonderful that you have not started back. That is definitely something to be proud of. The moms that don't even try to continue to not smoke and start back within days of having a child are the ones that get to me. And a cigarette here and there to relieve stress is different than smoking a pack a day.
Even though they don't smoke around their children and they can wash their hands as many times as they would like but the smoke is still in their hair and on their clothes.
P.S. GO MAVS!!
OMG, seriously? The thought of doing that would have never crossed my mind! Wowsa. Sounds like someone didn't even want to try to quit smoking for good.
If you have a loan for more than 3 years on a car, you are either buying too much car for your budget or you didn't save enough for the down payment. Does this make me a hypocrite? Yes, but I've learned my lesson since buying my first new car in my early 20's, and I won't make the same mistake twice.
I've learned this too. For us, it was not enough down payment.

I feel the same way. I messed up real bad when I bought my Impala when I was 18. I still have two more years left to pay on it and we're so upside down on it that it isn't even funny. Now that we have a Jetta we only took a 3 year loan on it to avoid the same issue.
I think bumpies should be able to post a link to their etsy shops in their siggys. I don't have an etsy shop, but I love etsy and I don't get why it's such a big deal. I'm still waiting for someone to explain this rule to me. Putting a link in a siggy is not hounding anyone to buy anything. You can go to the link or ignore it. So there ya go!
In my opinion, it's a slippery slope. Yeah, there are us regs who could have link to our cute tiny Etsy shops. But if they allowed that, than any business or company can create a profile and link their business in their siggy. They can then spam the boards as they wish and nobody here wants that. So the TOS forbid any and all direct advertising to prevent this from happening. And it's not fair to us bumpies who respect the TOS for other bumpies to just ignore it and advertise their shops.
What bumpies can do is link to their blog, which then has a link to their shop, provided that their blog's content isn't used to just advertise their shop.
I totally understand what you're saying. Is there a way to allow some, but not all? Maybe not, but it would be nice to be able to support other bumpies and their etsy shops.
Would it be against TOS to compile a list of bumpie etsy shops, post that list on a blog, and link the blog from sigs? Or if not including it in the sigs, just make a simple directory that could be shared?
Yes, it would be against the TOS.

We saw this car when we lived in England. It's made by Smart Car and I believe is basically the same as the ugly azz one. Its still not great, but better than the original Smart Car.
Just thought I would let you know Not sure if they sell it in the US though.

I completely disagree. You have to look at circumstances not just the length of the loan. I can 100% afford a 2-3 year loan on my car but I was able to get a 2% interest rate on a 5 year loan and I have a lower payment. Just because I can afford the higher payment for a shorter loan doesn't mean I want to. I'm completely responsible with both the amount of car I bought and using financing properly.
I understand that there are a lot of irresponsible people out there, but financing is not the devil. When used properly and responsibly it can allow much better budgeting. We finance tons of things on 0% interest deals even though we can afford to buy them outright because it's free financing. I think it's silly not to take advantage of it and use financing to your advantage.

I know it's still several months away but I'm having a hard time getting excited about throwing a party for LO's birthday. I really wish we could just give LO a cupcake, take some pics, and be done with it but I know our families will be really disappointed. And then I feel like a crappy mom for not wanting to throw a party, lol.
Sigh.
I'm with you on this.
Same, so we aren't. DD has a lot of cousins, so her birthday will be celebrated with the "winter birthdays" just like every other person in the family. For us, throwing a separate birthday party would be tacky anyways (at least on DH's side). My family might like a big party, but it just isn't happening. I'm 100% fine with it. She'll have her little cupcake to smash and just a few family members there.
LOL I agree but in my head, my first thought was "Scout thinks so?" I got such a proper Southern girl vibe from you in NC. Not bad or anything, just sayin'
I always think the same thing and then she says something "mainstream"(for lack of a better word) and I'm all, wait, What? Haha! I always forget for some reason.
And I don't agree that everyone should live together before marriage or even have sex for that matter. It works for some people, but I've seen many great marriages from people who did not live together beforehand. I think the most important thing is that both of you are going in with eyes wide open and an understanding that marriage takes work and compromise.

I agree with the disagree for some people and in certain situations. As long as you don't have a prepayment penalty you can always pay more at a later point. I just bought out my leased vehicle and did a 60 month term. I get bonuses at set points of the year - so I can keep my payment low and then pay more off on the car at a later point. There was equity in my car when I bought it out - so no need for a down payment.
Also, when I was graduating from law school - I needed to get a car. My car was a piece of junk and barely running. At the time - Mitsubishi had a deal for no pay for the first year and then 60 months - so it was like a 72 month loan but there was no payment due the first year. I had to do this. I didn't have money to make a car payment for the first 6 months until I could start my job and then pay. If I wouldn't have been able to take advantage of this I would have not been able to start my job.

Yeah, I realized the error of my ways leasing a car when I went to get another one and my car (obviously) had no trade-in value.
Also, when I went to get a new car, the monthly payments for lease vs. purchase was only about $30, so I purchased on a five-year loan.
We got a pretty low rate and my car is almost exclusively used on the highway, so it gets great mileage and stays in good condition.
Disagree. But I also have a view on marriage that, in general, seems unpopular.
My H was my 'first', and though leaving his lazy arse has crossed my mind I never would and never could and he will be my 'last'.
Marriage is taken too lightly anymore, and I think having sex before marriage only says "eh, it's just marriage, nothing worth saving anything for."
I have seen too many girls around here think they need to have sex with a guy to keep him, only to get pregnant and realize how worthless the guy was. It breaks my heart and I wish I could shake some sense into them and say "if he is worth it, he will love you regardless!!"

I don't think that "naturally thin" women should ever get to have big boobs, natural or fake. You know, the type who don't really have to diet and excersize, but are still thin, just because they were born that way? That in and of itself is unfair, so they should be flat chested to boot. Boobs should be reserved for those of us who have to literally starve ourselves and work out daily just to be in a size 8 or 10.

I never thought of the design that way, and I'll never look at a Prius the same again! Bahahahaha!
AW, I think the Smart Car is cute! Though I admit I am not a fan of the Prius. I would drive a Smart Car but DH thinks that they are incredibly unsafe.
I think that if you are caught texting while driving, you should have your license revoked for a period of time (not saying forever, but for even a SHORT period of time). To me, it is pretty much just as bad as drinking while driving.
I was ran off the road recently by a girl that was texting while driving. She could have killed me and my child all over a stupid text message. She could have taken two seconds to pull off the road and send the damn thing.

According to the community rules:
No soliciting. There are some incredibly talented bumpies in our community with great ideas, but our boards are here for members to share ideas and hold discussions without feeling like they are being bombarded by promotions and solicitations. This applies to all sorts of businesses - photographers, daycares, graphic designers, Etsy shops, etc...
-No posts about your business -If a member asks for a business recommendation, you cannot respond with yours -In your signature, you cannot mention your business whatsoever, or link to it. You can link to your personal blog if you have one. If your personal blog has a link to your Etsy store, we are ok with that. However, please do not list items and their prices on your personal blog, essentially creating an extension of your store.
If you are unsure about what's allowed (this can be confusing), just follow one general rule:other members should not be able to guess that you are a vendor of any sort.

Is this Madame Tussauds in NYC? We went there the weekend after I found out I was pregnant with DD. In every single picture of me I have a ridic goofy grin cause I was so happy!
I think that unless the life and/or welfare of the mother is threatened, the quality of life or future quality of life of the mother or child, it is deemed medically necessary, or there was a rape involved, abortion is unacceptable. To me, the woman made her choice when she had sex. It should not be a form of birth control when a couple forgets to use protection.
No, this is not a P&R, but I am at work.

I think it would be no harm, no foul if you knew the person you were with was "the one." I think when you get into a ton of different partners it can create some baggage with the person you end up with, but that's just my opinion.

I disagree. I bought my first car in 09 and financed it for 5 years and put down a substantial amount. We could afford to finance it for 3 years but we chose not to. I ended up paying it off in a year and a half so just because you don't finance a vehicle for 3 years does not mean you are irresponsible or didn't save enough for a down payment.

I also always think about the tsunami whenever I see him though, and I feel so bad for him.

I love him too. My grandmother refers to him as "that handsome homosexual that designs things"
Francesca Pearl is here! Josephine Hope is almost 3!
I may or may not have a picture of me with Oprah, too. But I'm not 100% sure. We "met" tons of celebs on our honeymoon.
**steps off soapbox**
Dang it, I can't see PIPs here at work. I'll check it out when I get home!

I am with both of you ladies. It doesn't help that none of our family is near us so they will probably try to talk us into having a party near them to make it more convenient for them. If I have one here, I bet none of them will come.
Ok. You can link your blog which can refer to your etsy shop? Right?
Because smoking is awesome.
There. I said it.
Unable to even.

You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.
I also always think about the tsunami whenever I see him though, and I feel so bad for him.
I thought it was cause it makes you look cool.
ME TOO!
