CHRISTINA...... because there is a "christina" I am not fond of. Or Mandy.
EVER!!!! LOL....
What about you ladies? Is there a name that makes you shudder??
(Not trying to offend anyone, or put down a name you may potentially have picked out- this is just a game! I know everyone has to have a name or two (that they MAY even like.... but would NEVER use because of something this person said/did etc)
So....?
Re: I will never name my child _______?
Both are H's names:
Allison: long story but I will say she's a straight up ho that ruined the name for me
Trucker: I'm 51% sure H is teasing me about this one
Those are the two that I have definate strong aversions to.
I would LOVE to use the name Stella, but..............
1. it's the dog's name
2. our last name is Ellis so it would never work.......boo
Vasili (pronounced Vas-ee-lee)
DH has hinted at naming this baby Vasili (Greek) after his uncle if it is a boy. No fecking way. Nothing against his uncle but, I think the name is awful for a kid living in the US.
big brothers 12.2009 and 02.2012
There are a couple names that have been ruined by students. I won't name them because the kids are currently in my class but one was my favorite boys name before this class...
Boring names like John, Michael, Joe, Jessica, Jennifer, etc
Old people names like Barbara, Margaret, Beatrice, Eleanor, Mary, Sophia, Frank, George, Sullivan.
Ridiculous names like Destiny and Nevaeh.
bfp 1 - m/c 1.31.11 @ 10 weeks
bfp 2 - baby born via c-section on 5.4.12 @ 37 weeks
bfp 3 - blighted ovum/d&c on 4.13.13 @ 8 weeks
bfp 4 - 3rd IUI, very late BFN with super low P, c/p
bfp 5 - natural bfp while on lupron, baby born via RCS on 4.27.15 @ 39 weeks
bfp 6 - surprise! baby born via RCS on 11.13.16 @ 38 weeks
Yes, this. Again, I won't list them because they are currently in my class, but I have had two boys with each of these names and they are just destroyed.
I will also avoid names that remind me of the early 90s, like Mallory, Melissa, Jessica, Brittney, etc.
And I can't use Abby because it's the name of the dog my ex-H and I shared. People might give me the side-eye if I use that name.
Anything with random letters just because you want to make your completely unoriginal name look different.
And I seriously hate Nevaeh too.
(Ellie I like, but the hubbs is not a fan. But then again, he likes oliver. It doesn't get more old and foreign than that.)
Ekk never liked Nevaeh either . ick.
not a fan of Nevaeh at all! ekk
LOL....
Isabella... or any form of Bella... I frickin hate Twilight.
I am cracking up because I had a dog named Jessica with my ex-H.....too funny! I also had a dog named Maggie, so I guess that name is out.
Names that were ruined for me after working with kids: Any K-girl name (Kaylee, Kylie, Kayla), Kevin, Abigail, Madison, Ella, Catherine, Donovan, etc. Some of those aren't even b/c the kids were that bad, it's just because there were so many of them!
Weird names like Naveah.
Owen, Eric - both ex's & they're both tools
Peggy, Penny, Mandy, Lance. All names ruined by horrible people
I'd say nothing super trendy, but DD's name is Emma, so I guess that I didn't follow my own rule...
I'm currently avoiding all names suggested by DH. Apparently his taste has changed dramatically since we named DS (Carter). He now prefers oddly spelled named (Rhys instead of Reese), names that will get our kid name fun of (Leif - uhhh... our last name is Erickson, for goodness sake!), and horrible family names (wants "Pleasant" for a middle name. for a BOY).
I think I'm just going to have to tell him that he can pick the last name. And that is IT!
Our Family Blog.
Lol! Yeah I don't blame you. Those names are pretty bad, especially Leif... he must be joking, right?

Haha, my MIL is Greek and her name is Vasiliki. Her name is definitely not on our list, because it is just too much for the US.
This.
Also, Oliver and Ellie are our top names! We both like older names for the most part.
Ditto PP's on Nevaeh.
Tiffany - negative memory from childhood
Any name that will get misspelled or mispronounced over and over. My first name is common, but it's shortened nickname is spelled just a LITTLE bit differently than the usual spelling. Absolutely noone spells it right the first time. Then, my maiden name was unusual and noone knew how to say it or even begin to spell it.
Now our last name is super easy so I cannot screw it up by naming our child something difficult for a first name.

When I was growing up, we had a ferrier(sp?)/blacksmith named Leif Erickson. Made me chuckle every time we called him up.
Any name that's made up, a food or other random word that shouldn't be a name, i.e. Apple, random spellings of normal names, and any name on the top 20 list for either sex. Plus we have a huge family and pets that have used normal names, so those are out too. Our dog: Sam, Bros dog: Pete, BIL's dog: Parker, our cats: Perry, Tyler, Bros cats: Audrey, Oliver
100% agree
I also don't like the name betty or bethany.
Anything that is one syllable and ends in "-ck." Our last name is Cook, and while I adore Luke, Brock and Jack, they just don't flow.
I adore the name Nolan, but a close friend just had a baby and used that one.
I'll probably also steer away from any name on the top 20 lists. My name is Melissa and in fourth grade I had three Melissa's, a Melinda and a Marissa all in my class. Talk about confusing!
I am a teacher so some names are ruined such as Matthew and Christopher
I am not a fan of Destiny, Nevaeh and Genesis
We do not plan on naming our child after myself or my husband and nothing that rhymes with our names: I sugested Ryan but DH name is Brian he nixed that name
My father who was born in Italy has a very Italian name, not many italian names will go with my married name. If we have a daughter I will give her my maiden name as her middle name
Jackson...because we named one of our cars that! hah!
I'm not as much of a name snob as DH is, almost every single name I bring up he shoots down. "Oh I knew someone with that name...he/she was a dou___". Luckily I think we found a couple we agree on!
LOL! Yeah that is just way out there.
No Rachel for us... I dispise a Rachel. I dont even like to hear the name. Honestly I didnt even like to type it. haha
And, sorry H, but none of is Italian family names. Its horrible. H will say Nick called and I have to ask which one. Brother, Cousin, Uncle or Great Uncle.
His brother and him both have the same middle name.... it drives me crazy for some reson.
haha, I have a Mallory and at the hospital a friend said, "yo Mallory" and I went OMG how did I not remember that! It hasn't stuck fortionately.
Our first is Mara Grace and we had 4 first names picked out. We decided to use Faith as a middle name and liked Mallory Faith the best. Now we have to use another m name if it's a girl. I like Makenna Hope and H likes Molly Hope, but we'll see. We have no boy names as of yet.
I know two Leif Ericksons...
DH and I agree on most names and actually have a boy and girl name picked out for this little one. He nixed a couple of my ideas early on like Oliver, Benjamin, and Maximillian (only cause I like the nickname Max).
His family on his dad's side are soooo unoriginal when it comes to names, love them to death but they are. Every boy is named after another man in the family. My husband is a Bruce, his dad is a Bruce and my SS is a Bruce. There is also a Donald, Donny, DJ (Donald James), little Donny and Trey which is actually a Donald the 3rd. The one cousin adopted a boy and his name is Dante but they are petitioning to have his middle name changed to James so he to can be a DJ. My BIL is Seth and if him & his girflriend cant agree on a name for the boy they are having in like 2 weeks then its going to be Seth Jr. My SS already says that when he gets older and has a son that he is going to name him Bruce. AHHHHH!!
DS is George
big brothers 12.2009 and 02.2012
Stella is also the name of my husband's favorite beer. ha ha
I worked in a child psych unit for 3 years and we had more Austin's and Brianna's than anything. (Had a lot of Brittany's too, but clearly I would not name my child my name). Bad, bad kids.
My BFF named her son Austin and I told her that she was setting him up to fail, but she didn't listen.
No offense to any Kristin's out there - but a girl in grade/high school ruined that one forever for me.
I LOVE Gabriel for a boy and think that Gabe is a great nickname - but the bully in my DHs school was a Gabriel and it's a no go for him
this this and this. hate hate hate it.
