I have been catching a whiff of cat urine in the living room on and off today, but I haven't been able to figure out where it was coming from. Then tonight, MH caught one of our cats trying to go into the fireplace.
Once she ran away, we looked around inside, and sure enough she's been going in there for quite some time! We had to scoop out all the poop, then vacuum up all the sand. The pee has soaked into the cement...any ideas how to get the smell out?
I bet my cat isn't the only silly furbaby on this board...where has your pet done his/her business?

Um.. your cat is probably smarter than you think he/she is. It goes in there because it best resembles the litter box. At least it's not going on your carpet.I hate it when people call their animals stupid when they're a lot smarter than people think

Aub I agree. And my beautiful dog is 3 years old and still has accidents, I wouldn't ever call her stupid for it though.

Seriously, they're not "stupid". Did it drive you nuts and bother you? Probably! But, channel your emotions into something more productive than calling your cat "stupid." Like using GOOGLE to find out how to get the smell out.

Haha. thanks for playing? I can play this game all day. I didn't realize this was a game to you. You know your cat is probably just f*cking with you because it probably hates you right? And at least its just pooping on the carpet. That can be removed easily, its piss you have to worry about because that smell never comes out.
Just because your pissed at your cat doesn't give you the right to call it stupid. What if someone called you stupid? Wouldn't you want to screw with someone that thought you were stupid too?

I find it really ironic that certain people who are often very negative and rude (you know who you are, don't deny it) are jumping down my throat about this. I just spent the day with that cat at the vet because she's putting on a lot of weight and I want to make sure she's healthy. She adores me. She just happened to do something that I found funny and I thought others would have funny stories to share. Not really sure why you're attacking my character, but if that sort of thing makes you feel better about yourself, go right ahead.
Then, perhaps, you should PROOF READ and THINK about what you wrote. Most of the pet lovers who frequent this board would not be pleased to see someone call their pet "stupid." If you had used the education you've received in the past, you have recognized that you used phrasing that was not appropriate to the objective you were attempting to acheive.
In other words, don't be a flaming newbie who acts like a nutcase. Google is your friend, use it! Read before you post!

I don't remember calling you or anyone else a jackass. If I would have known people would take such offense to the word "stupid," I would have clarified that I thought it was funny...strangely enough, the first couple people to respond were amused, as was I.

Ugh, cats can be jerks like that. My parents have a cat that pisses in all the sinks.... it favoured one sink in the downstairs bathroom, and pissed in it so much that my parents had to replace it, put extra closing mechanisms on all the bathroom doors in the house.
There is a product called Nature's Miracle that they sell at Petsmart. It works REALLY well, we use it on the cement downstairs in the basement where the litter boxes are. They also have a no more marking spray, which you could spray around the fireplace. GL!
