I am baffled when I hear how long some women push during labor. I will be honest, I have no idea how long you are technically "allowed" to push. [Poll]
I pushed for 2 hours 15 min. She then had to be vacuumed because her arm was up over her head, which is why she wouldn't come out. It sucked, but she's worth it:)
I pushed for about an hour. I would think you'd be "allowed" to push as long as it takes as long as baby is not in distress and mom has the energy to keep going

Me...exactly. I was EXHAUSTED! 2 hours of pushing was horrible, I had no energy left so they tried to give me a sugar/caffeine boost with a Coke. Try pushing while burping. Pretty hilarious. She ended being vacuumed which hurt like effing hell. Doesn't help that I tore wide open with no epi. either.
Wow, I pushed for 45 minutes and thought I was lucky.
You ladies who only pushed for 15-20 minutes, you better be careful with your next LOs! You might be delivering in the car!
Due to how fast everything happened once they started the pitocin, my OB did tell DH to pay attention because if I go into labor on my own with the next one, I could seriously be giving birth in our bathtub. His face turned white.
Two hours and 55 minutes. My OB said she would only let me push for 3 hours. If I couldn't get her out in 3 hours, I had to have a c-section. I just barely made it! My mom was in labor for three hours total with me (her first) -- I thought I'd be like her. Not so much!
45 minutes. I consider myself lucky it was so short, because I absolutely hated the way pushing felt. Maybe that was because my epidural was wearing off, though.
My Bradley instructor said the average was 2 hours. I pushed for 2 but at the end my MW said I either had to push him out or they were going to get the vacuum. Out he came.
However, they also let me push way, way earlier because my urge was uncontrollable and they were hoping it would get things going more than they were. I needed to push and couldn't control it from 6cm on. It was awful.
i pushed for 15 mins .. 3 pushes and she was OUT !
eta: they started my pic drip at 8:45a and she was born at 10 to 4p the same day

Who the heck clicked "4-5 hours"! I mean- 4 HOURS of pushing??? I was a little over an hour, but it went so fast that I was surprised when they told me it had been an hour. Epi was my friend.

8/2012 Surprise unmedicated BFP!! Due May 8, 2013
With my first, I got to the hospital 13 minutes before DD was born, so I must have pushed for less than thirteen minutes.
So, with the second, my doctor decided we should induce, so I didn't deliver in a ditch somewhere. (I live 45 min. from the hospital on awful roads.) Two days before my induction date, I went into labor. We decided to break my water to get things going. I went from 4 cm to baby out in 1 1/2 hours. I didn't push very long. I also didn't tear.
I am terrified of delivering any future babies in my car or at home, etc...

I was debating if I should add a "LO just fell out" hehe.
I cannot believe how many of you only pushed for 15 mins. I only pushed for 1hr 15mins, which I did not think was crazy.

This was about mine too for #2.
#1 was way too long (hours).
It was daunting enough to know I had to push one baby out. I don't think I could have mentally prepared myself for the idea of pushing two out.
Due to how fast everything happened once they started the pitocin, my OB did tell DH to pay attention because if I go into labor on my own with the next one, I could seriously be giving birth in our bathtub. His face turned white.
Does it make you feel better that I was in labor for 24 hours??? Even though I only pushed for 15 minutes....

LOL I guess that makes it better! I was in labor a long time too, damn induction. Hopefully I go on my own next time!
2.5 hours then c-section.
For some reason I was expecting it to be about 20 minutes. ha.
Not sure how long exactly, but it was under 30 minutes.
No, b/c I was in labor for 28 hrs, hehe.
this.
I don't know how you ladies did it for hours. I feel lucky!
I labored at the hospital for 45 minutes and then pushed for 15 and she was here.

You need a category for 1-10 minutes. I pushed 3 times for a grand total of 5 minutes.
I had a planned c-section with #2 so who knows how long I would have pushed with him.
