Will you have professional belly pics taken? I would like to but I think it depends on what, exactly, I look like when it would come time to take them.

I'm with you on that, gym. If I'm looking good and feeling good about myself, maybe.
My sister had a miserable pregnancy and did not feel good about herself at all...she gained more than 50 pounds, had horrible acne, etc. I think if that happened to me I probably wouldn't.
I'd rather put the money into a college fund and have DH snap a few pictures with a good camera. It's not really something I'd put in a frame on the mantle.
miscarriage 12/2009 5 1/2 weeks probable ectopic...fingers and toes are crossed that number 2 sticks. Looking forward to June 2012!
YES! I didn't have any last time and I regret it. Let me also say, I felt great, but I am very overweight and was rockin' a b-belly until 41 weeks, I never really had a nice belly. They wouldn't have been cute, but I would have them, KWIM?
ETA: I don't know if you include this or not, but the chances of a bare belly shot on me is a snowballs chance in hell.
I'm with the pps. Depending on how I'm feeling/what pregnancy does to my body, I would love to. I've seen so many of my friends do this and I absolutely love their pictures. I'm nervous about gaining weight during pregnancy (I'm not at my "ideal" weight right now... but I'm working on it ) so as long as I would be able to look at the pictures and not cringe because of what I look like, I will probably do them!

That's a good point Cowbell. MH is decent with a camera And yeah, it's never going on my mantle More of just something to look back on for me.

I won't be getting professional pics done. DH has been taking at home pictures, and finacially speaking, I would rather put the money other places instead of professional pics.
I doubt that is something I would do. There would definitely be a lot of home pics taken, but I wouldn't shell out the money for a professional. I didn't even do that for my wedding!

UGH. I am glad you posted this, Gym. I just scoured my computer for my belly pics (we took one every Thursday from 4 weeks on). Apparently none of them got saved when my old computer crashed. We were able to get a few infant pics, no belly pics. I guess the single pic I have on Myspace of me at 32 weeks is the only one still in existence (besides one from my work shower someone else snapped and printed for me).
I seriously doubt it. I just can't imagine my belly looking that good, given it's current state. We will probably have a family member do some posed, fully clothed shots but that's about it. I can't believe the money people spend on this stuff.

I don't think I will- I do like the idea of DH taking weekly pictures so you can see the progress. I've seen some people's pro pics that look really nice but it's just not me.

Gym- if you ever decide to get them, let me know. If you like my engagement/wedding photos on FB, I could hook you up with the girl who did them. She's doing my mat pics for only $75 and the pics all go on a disc for you to do with what you wish. She's awesome.

Oh wow, that's a great deal! I will definitely let you know. $75 I would be willing to part with

I would like to. A place in our mall does maternity shots for free but I am sure there is some type of catch.
I bet you have to buy an infant package from them.
That is another mistake I will not make. We did our nb pics at Sears. NEVER again. We got one good one, and spent a ton. We got gorgeous pics done by nestie MayDayGirl at 10 months and I will never go back to studio pics again. She also charges much less and is the nicest person on the planet!
Like most of you, it would depend on how I was looking/feeling at the time. I did like our wedding photographer and he would probably take some nice pictures. I think it would like $125 in the studio; $250 on-location (which could be anywhere). Then for another $100 you can get a memory stick with all the pics and a full reprint release.

Yes, the same person who did my wedding also does a special package where you get belly shots and first couple of months shots and its all put into a nice book for you to keep. I plan on doing this.

Probably, but I would go for that. They were professionals that opened a store in the mall. They do weddings and such too. Their work is good. Not the typical department store pictures.

I probably will, but I have a couple of friends with their own photography companies so they would most likely do it for free/cheap. I love this picture so much!
I think I will. DH's cousin is a photographer so he will give us a family discount. I won't hang them in the house maybe one in the baby's room. They have to done right otherwise they look kind of weird.
Our wedding photographer has a package where for $150 (CDN) she does maternity shots, newborn shots, and 1st birthday shots. She usually blogs about all 3 together (and sometimes even includes the couple's engagement and wedding shots if she did them too). Really neat to see them all together with her professional eye. She was a blast to work with, and she has 5 kids of her own, so I would likely be comfortable having my belly hang out aorund her.

That is really cute.
I saw some on a friend's fb page that kind of weirded me out. The couple are really tattooed which in and of itself does not bother me, but they were half naked (lacey bra for her, no shirt for him). Then they had someone airbrush a enormous tattoo over her belly with the baby's name. It covered her entire belly. I just thought it was really tacky.

Definitely gonna do pro ones next time.
I might, instead of pro pics, do something like this, but I am nowhere near as cute as she is!!
LOL - what is "stretchening"? That was a cute video.
That was a cool idea.
