My hair is just past my shoulders and I am trying to grow it out, but I need something that is more of a style. Also, for some reason, after having DD I had new hair grown around my hair line and I look like I have really thin bangs and they get in the way and look ridiculous. I try to slick them down with product. Right now it is just layered a little on the ends. I found some pictures of Nicole Richie (when she has short hair) and of Lauren Conrad (also with short hair) that I liked. I figure as I grow out the length they can become shorter layers in the front and not so much bangs if I want. Will I regret it??
ETA: post pics if you have any
This is an ugly pic of me, but I have a round face. I chose this one because you can see my faux bangs that grew on their own ![]()

Re: NTR: Side Swept bangs - do you have them or what do you think about them?
DD and I both have side sweep bangs.
I have longish hair (past my back bra strap) and long layers.
I had the little bangs like you are describing. I have heard it's called "baby Halo". Where you hair staying in the growing stage while you are pregnant and breast feeding. Then when you stop, the hair that would have normally fallen out...falls out - at the same time. I hated that stage, but I can say...it was over in about 2 months. It eventually mixed with my other bangs. I do have side swooping bangs. Here is a picture. I have never mastered posting pictures...so here is the best I can do. I am on the right with the dark hair (the dark hair is new for me too).
The bangs were something you have to get used to, but you do eventually.

Auburn-
Can you PIP the two inspiration pics you mentioned? I'm contemplating them too and would like to see those.
These are some of my inspiration pics:
I have really fine, slightly wavy hair. I alternate between straight "regular" bangs and side-swept bangs. For some reason, when it's humid outside, my bangs won't lay straight and they side-sweep on their own.
To do the side-sweep right, seems like you have to have fairly thick, long bangs. I love the look of the Nicole Ritchie bangs, but that length is my pet peeve -- always poking me in the eyes.
