February 2019 Moms

When did you start to show?

this is my second pregnancy and I’ve heard you start showing sooner the second time around.. i know every body and pregnancy is different. I’m 6 weeks and 5 days today, so I know mine is just bloat.. I started a new job last week and they don’t know.. not sure how that one will play out when they find out.

#1: I was in maternity pants at 10 weeks.
#2: I was in maternity pants at 7 weeks.
#3: I'm in maternity pants or non-fitting stuff now at what I think is 5w3d.

I have a very, very short torso, so any bloat or bump shows quickly with me. Looking back at pictures with #2, I was starting to have an actual bump at 7-8 weeks and I popped by 12-13 weeks.

  • I’m at 7 weeks and starting to show :< then again, I’ve been told I look pregnant since I was pregnant with DD...
  • I didn’t really pop with either baby until 20+ weeks.  No earlier with baby no. 2.
  • I “popped” very early with DD. At 15 weeks my mom and I went to the states to shop for maternity clothes and when we were in the store this husband was all freaked out because his wife and I were due the same day and she’s wasn’t showing yet and I had an obvious bump.

My stomach never got as flat as it was before DD so I’m thinking I can hide it better this time but at 7w3d the bloat is real!
  • DS (Baby #1) 20 weeks
    DD (Baby #2) 14 weeks

We'll see how things go with baby #3!
  • So last pregnancy was a March 1st due date, little guy was born February 23rd instead, i did the dates 9th month. Anyway, I remember buying maternity clothes in September, but definitely showing in October.
  • No clue, I’m not a tiny person anyway, but I’ve gained about 25# since January. I’m currently close to the weight I was whenever DD was born.  :s

    Probably 15-16w?
  • This may be a silly question (first timer here).... how/when can you tell it’s no longer bloat and you’re actually starting to show? I’m bloated and just feel huge in general currently (6w 2d) lol
  • I just looked chunky until about week 30. I stared looking chunky around week 16.

  • I cant remember when I was noticeably showing for baby#1 but I remember at 12 weeks I started wearing maternity pants because I had to keep unbuttoning my jeans to sit at work (I work at a desk). I think around 16 weeks maybe I was noticable. I’m 6 weeks now and very bloated but not putting the maternity clothes on yet.
  • DS 20 weeks
    DD 16 weeks

    DS - 7.5
    DD #1 - 6
    ~ mmc 7.11.2018 @ 9w ~
    DD#2 - born 12.24.19

  • DD1: 21 weeks

    DD2: 15 weeks

I had/currently have bloat and look pregnant by the end of the day but that was when I couldn’t suck or squish it in anymore.

  • Over the last year, I’ve gained some weight, and my stomach that used to be flat now basically constantly has looked pregnant for the past several months. I always used to think about how getting a first baby bump would be, but now I’m sad that I won’t really have that noticeable transition.
  • @kjr9519 you still will.

I could have hid it until 20 weeks probably with my first pregnancy. We will see with this one!
  • I didn't show until 22 weeks with DS and someone told me later they had no idea I was pregnant until I got back from maternity leave and they wondered where I had been. With DD, I was showing without question by 20 weeks. I weighed the same pre-preg with both LOs and I'm 5'9" if that's helpful info to know.

  • With my first I started showing after 20 weeks (right after we had our anatomy scan) I'm hoping it's the same this time around (I'm exercising like crazy to keep the weight down and maybe stronger core?) Bc mil lives next door and I want to hide it from her for as long as possible. (She wouldn't approve).

I am also 5'9". And I get to wear scrubs all day every day so hopefully that will hide everything too!
  • @corgicreator I wore scrubs too! Then I started my new job and I have to wear business casual  :'( pants don’t fit like scrubs do! I miss them!

  • With DS, I didn't pop until 21/22 weeks. I'm bloated now, but if anything is going tongive me away, its my freaking boobs that have DOUBLED in size in the last few weeks.  DS weaned at 9m so my boobs deflated and now, they look like BFing boobs again.

  • My first I had a noticeable bump at around 28 weeks so I’m hoping to show earlier this time. It was hard because I was put on bedrest at 24 weeks and just got all the dirty looks parking in the expectant mother spots at the grocery store even though I really truly needed them as I wasn’t allowed to walk that much
  • I usually pop around the 20 weeks mark. At least, that's when I actually look pregnant and not fat  :D
  • With DD I was at least 5 months before I popped. So I'm expecting a bit earlier this time
  • These are fascinating! There's such a range. I'm rather slim and have a very short torso so I'm sort of expecting to show early but we'll just have to wait and see...
  • I bloat easily thanks for short torso syndrome. With my first, I was in maternity pants when I was around 12 weeks. With my second, I was 10 weeks. I’m interested to see how quickly it’s going to happen with this one. I’m probably just going to rely heavily on leggings, workout shorts and my nursing wear.
