RE Office Fail

While I was waiting ot be seen with my IUI, someone came into their office to show off their 2 month old son.  He was absolutely precious, but I just think this is the most terrible thing to do.  I was having a bad day already, and this just hit me...I got up and went out to my car for a good cry.  People just don't think before they act.  Perhaps these same people skip through AA meetings with a bottle of Jack?  I sure hope not.

I came back in to pay my copay, and the receptionist opened the window to tell me to hold on a second...then put the phone to her ear and told someone that their beta's had doubled.  Woo, Freaking, Hoo. No

Blah, NFT.

Wow, people do this? Can't you just mail them a pic?

  • That sucks.  Sometimes I think the front desk people at the REs office are completely clueless as to what business they are in.

I went in for my beta re-check after my m/c to make sure it was dropping on.  Well, the appointment was the same day as my 6w u/s should have been.  And the receptionist asked me if I was excited to see the baby when I checked in....I was like thanks for pouring a little more salt on that wound.

  • You would think that someone who knows the people at the REs office well enough to want to go back to show them her baby would understand exactly why she shouldn't be parading her baby around the waiting room. I'm so sorry. (((((hugs)))))

Surprise! Baby #4 is due in March!
  • I know!  I thought in the very least that the receptionists or nurses should have brought her right into a room or something, rather than gathering around to ooh and aah at the little guy.

The woman even talked about how she didn't go to the RE to conveice this LO, it was just "pure luck".  She knew them because she had to go there for her first 2 children.  And just thought about stopping back with this one years later!?!

    Jerks.

  • Ick.  You would think they could be a little more sensitive about these things.  After all that, I hope you're the one getting good beta news with this IUI!

When I went in for my ultrasound Monday, there was a woman that walked in with a little girl, proceeded to sit RIGHT next to my husband and I and coo and laugh with her the entire 30 minutes we were in the waiting room.

My husband has a short fuse with that and saw them come in and start heading for us and leaned over to me to whisper, "Oh, FFS!" lol I mean, I make a point to hide my pictures and not smile when we just walk through the waiting room, why in the world would bringing a baby/young child in be okay?

  • Aw, I'm so sorry. I hope your next appt goes much better than this one. Big Smile
  • My RE's office actually encourages people to bring their children and has a little waiting area with kids books, but I refused to bring our older daughter (now five) to the RE's office.  It's just not appropriate, and brings too much pain.

The day I had my first "let's see if it's going down so we don't have to give you methotrexate" beta in December, a dad was wandering all over the waiting area with his just-walking toddler.  When I saw them come around the corner, I just burst into tears.  The dad and I locked eyes, and I decided not to hide my sadness.  It wasn't his fault I was miscarrying, but his decision to mill around the RE's waiting area (rather than the lobby downstairs) brought me a wave of sadness.

I hope that your next visits are less horrific, and actually bring some great news for YOU.  Good luck.
