I called my OB about this..... He said it is no problem.
When I called I had pain in my neck/shoulder and was asking to use the icyhotstick. He said as long as it isn't on my belly it should be fine and the ingredients in icyhot never reaches the blood stream and stays only within the muscular wall. I only did it once then decided to alternate between ice packs and heating pads and not do the icyhot stick. I was in my first trimester and EVERY smell made me sick!

A quick web check says after first tri ok, just fine in small amounts and WebMD says "During pregnancy, this product should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor."
