Re: MoMs to be check in!

  • V day is tomorrow and I am so relieved to hit that milestone!  Ultrasound next week to check on my cervix and Baby B's kidney.  We are on day 99 of the 100 day countdown.

QOTW: I had a feeling it was twins. We were trying for our third baby and I just had this premonition that it was two. I pushed for an early ultrasound and got one at 5 weeks 6 days. I was still shocked when I saw the two sacs! I had never had an early ultrasound but I knew what it meant when I saw two. H did not know what it meant! Haha! I think I laughed and cried, tears of happiness, and kept saying NO WAY! I KNEW IT! LOL Then I had a panic attack that lasted about a week!  I think my blood pressure was the highest it has ever been in my life after that ultrasound. It felt like I was in a dream.

  • 35 weeks today!  C-section is scheduled for August 1st and I am ready!

QOTW:  I yelled at the ultrasound tech to "Shut the front door! No really, shut up!" DH said "Oh Sh*t".   Twins do not run in my family at all.  The really crazy thing is DH brother and his wife had twins in April!  It's crazy that we both have twins just 3 1/2 months apart!  We are super excited now and can't imagine any other way, but it took awhile to get used to!

Update: 27 weeks! Baby B's cord flow looked about the same at last week's appointment which is the best we can hope for.

I apparently have GD and see a diabetic counselor tomorrow. I'm hoping I'll just have to be monitored. I was angry at first, I'm a marathoner and have been eating very healthy. But at least this is something I can control.

I definitely had NO intuition that it might be twins, we were shocked and incredibly overwhelmed. I started shaking and had to fight back tears. DH held it together better and joked about it.

  • My induction was pushed back to Thursday, so DH and I are enjoying a few days of just us (he's off for a 6 week paternity leave) before the girls arrive.  We're hoping for a double vaginal delivery.  FX!

QOTW:  I was totally shocked.  It was not our RE doing the u/s, but another one in the office.  I was so scared there wouldn't be a heart beat, so asked her to check that 1st.  She scanned around and then said "which one do you want to see 1st?"  I said "what the flvck?!"  :)

24w2d! Vday last Saturday, which is a relief. Now just focusing on keeping them in as long as possible. Not much is going on this week. I have an OB appointment on Friday.

QOTW: We did IVF and transferred 2 embryos, so we knew twins were possible. My first 2 betas before the ultrasound were high, which is not a definitive sign, but prepared me for seeing two sacs at the 5 week ultrasound. I was secretly hoping for twins, because I didn't want to go through IVF or pregnancy again. That made the twin news was easy to take in. Of course, now I realize how naive I was.

  • Hello! I've posted on the boards but haven't officially checked in till now...better late than never right?

I'm 36wks along...EDD 8/9...with mo/di boys and have been on bed rest since early May due to PTL, fluid level/size differences, and GD. Our boys are stubbornly staying transverse and A is my smaller baby so we have a Csection scheduled for Friday morning if all goes according to plan. Today's u/s gave us estimated weights of 6.7 and 6.13

QOTW: We were shocked. We'd always joked about having twins since I have several in my close family, but never expected to really have them. We found out at a dating u/s when I was 6wks along. My hubby could barely form words and my DD, who is 1.5, cried as if on cue.

  • I am 15w1d and really starting to show. Depending on what I am wearing it is very obvious. No appointments until next Thursday the 25th. I am still spotting very lightly during the day and then in the morning a bit more. I feel fine otherwise and as of last Monday the twins are doing fine and looking almost the same in size and fluid levels with strong heartbeats.

What was your response when you found out you were pregnant with twins, or more?  Did you suspect twins or was it a complete surprise?

My husband and I both said "Oh Sh*t!" in unison in front of our doctor. It was a shock in the moment however once I started thinking about the symptoms of the previous weeks and how the rest of the appointment I realize that there were clues and that the doctor knew before she started looking for heart beats.

  • Thinks are good so far, I think....I have another appintment tomorrow with my high risk OB to check again for a membrane and do an u/s. After that, we will come up with a plan for the rest of my pregnancy/delivery. I have a follow-up appt. next week with my regular OB and have to try to get her to transfer me over to the high risk guy for the rest of this pregnancy.

    I will keep ya'll posted.

What was your response when you found out you were pregnant with twins, or more?  Did you suspect twins or was it a complete surprise?

We were shocked and thrilled. I knew this pregnancy was different than my last and I showed right away, but I just thought the gender may be different or someting. We are vert excited though and feel so blessed!

  • 30w1d today! We were concerned about Baby A measuring small, but she gained 10oz in two weeks and is back in track with her growth. Yay!

I'm scheduling my csection next week since baby A is breech. I'm hoping for sept 9, which will be at 38w1d. Crazy that its only 8 weeks away! Eek! Fingers crossed that I won't need the csection, but at least I'll have a date.

QOTW: The day before our ultrasound, DD prayed for a baby brother and baby sister and was pretty insistent. Ha! So when we found out it was twins, I think I was more shocked that my 4y.o. called it than the fact that there were two. Then I had a panic attack. I don't think DH has still gotten used to the idea!

  • I felt my babies move for the fist time last night!!! I'm so excited. I felt everything on the left side last night but I felt some on the right side today so I'm hoping I've felt both babies now. Oh, and I'm getting seriously huge.

I was on fertility meds and twins run in my family so I knew twins were a possibility and I knew that I had two mature follicles but It was our first month on the meds so I wasn't even expecting to get pregnant that fast but once I realized I was pregnant I just had a feeling it was twins. my husband was absolutely shocked and I said very loudly "I KNEW IT!"

  • Hi ladies,

The boys and I made our 5 trip to L&D yesterday. 4 of the trips have been for fluids and trip 5 was for contractions. Thank goodness they got them to stop. My OB did put me on modified bed rest. I have a trip planned for this weekend, he said I can still go as long as I take it easy. We have our next ultrasound on Wednesday :)

QOTW: We did IVF and transfered 2 excellent embryo's and  so we knew that we   had a chance of twins

  • I'm 17w1d today. Had my first appointment with my new OB on Friday. She was great. She's sending me to the MFM doctor for monitoring along the way but she says everything looks great so far. After that appt. I gave some blood and then waited for a little ultrasound since my previous office didn't do one after I started bleeding at 12 weeks. The u/s tech took a peek and verified that we are having TWO MORE GIRLS. That makes 9 girls among our immediate family (no boys). People keep asking me if I'm disappointed that we aren't having a boy and I say it was more surprising that one wasn't a boy then disappointing. I should be making my appt. with the MFM doctor this week and he'll do the a/s.

QOTW: We were shocked. Who isn't? I was so worried going into the ultrasound because we had a chemical pregnancy the month before so all I wanted to see was a healthy heartbeat. Right away we saw a baby with a beautiful heartbeat, After the tech did all the measeurements, I jokingly said "so just one right?" She moved the wand around and gasped. We said "you're kidding?" And lo and behold, there was baby b. Thumping away.

  • Hoping I can join in!

I am 10w6d with mo/di twins after my 2nd round of IVF.  Had a pretty easy pg so far with the exception of a spotting scare yesterday (brown spotting for 4 hours and terrified me).  Have my NT scan scheduled for next Monday at 11w6d.  We already had the Harmony test and are waiting for results.  I am due on 2/4 (which happens to also be my birthday) but we are probably looking at early January with a scheduled c-section.  This is my first pg.

QOTW:  We transferred 3 embryos so  twins was not out of our thoughts, however when we did the intial u/s at 6w2d and only saw 1 gestational sac, i though, oh wow- there's only 1, twins would have been terrific but i'm thrilled there is one!  And then she moved the u/s wand and said, "oh wait, here's another one".  at that time i think my husband about turned white and was ready to pass out.  For some reason, ID twins were such a foreign concept to me and by that time I was really thankful that only the 1 embryo stuck!  If all 3 stuck and split I'd be in trouble!   I am thrilled now and just hopeful I can keep these babies in and that they are healthy.  I am protein-ing it up and taking it easy as best i can.

    Me (37) DH (39); PCOS changed to Unexplained, changed to DOR in 2012 (finally a correct diagnosis!);
Started TTC 2009 with RE after 6 months.

    IUI + Follistim x2;

  • Katybriggs, I'm so sorry! Prayers for your family.

Girls have been doing well at MFM and NST. I'm doing ok on sbr. Having some swelling.

QOTW: some have said I'm crazy for this, but I had a gut feeling I was pregnant with twins. I have no idea why. I just did. In the weeks leading up to my first u/s I mentioned to a few people I felt like I was having twins. We had our first u/s at 7 weeks and only saw one heart beat. I asked the tech, are you sure?? She looked around more and said yes. At 10 almost 11 weeks I went in for unscheduled u/s due to spotting. Surprise! Twins after all! All I could do was cry and say OMG! Over and over.

  • Still on modified bed rest and working from home. I had a growth scan on Thursday and the girls were 2 lbs 8 oz and 2 lbs 3 oz so we are very happy with their size and progress. Cervix is still on the short side so I am continuing on bed rest.

We did go meet a pediatrician last week that we really like so that's one more thing off the checklist. We have out first multiples parenting class on Wednesday so I am looking forward to that.

QOTW: We transferred two great embryos and my initial betas were very high so we weren't shocked to find out we were having twins. I will say, that even though we knew it was a very real possibility we still had the "Oh, sh!t" moment when it was confirmed. But we are thrilled. We always wanted two and my egg quality had declined so much recently that a second a few years down the road may not have happened for us.

I'm at 18w2d.  All is going good.  Called the doctor about swelling in my legs, most noticeable in my ankles.  After describing everything and verifying I am having no abdominal pains or blurry vision, they felt that pre-eclampsia wasn't likely, but if I were to experience those symptoms to come in immediately.  (It has been hot and humid here, so figuring that's the cause of the swelling)  They did recommend I see a doctor that comes to this clinic once a month, a Maternal/Fetal Nutrition Specialist.  They are recommending this to any MoM's, not because they feel anything is wrong.  This doctor will do a detailed scan of each baby to make sure all is good.  This is scheduled for the 18th, so there's a possibility we can find out then what we're having.  Otherwise, that appointment is scheduled for July 30th.  Still haven't felt anything definitive as far as movement goes, but when we've done ultrasounds their heartbeats are strong and they are moving on the screen, so I'm not worried.  I have discovered the cause of my horrible headaches...strained muscles in my neck.  Now I see a masseuse when they are bad and it's all good for a couple weeks.  Also understanding what people meant when they said I will probably get a back ache.  Yep, getting those daily too!

QOTW:  We had done IVF and had 2 embryo's implanted, so weren't too surprised with our news.  However, it is still a bit of a shock but a happy one.  All of the nay-sayers are saying how difficult it's going to be now with 2 babies.  While I'm sure it will be a struggle, I'm choosing to focus on the positive.  I'll have 2 smiling faces looking at me when I sing to them (until they learn that I'm not a good singer), I'll have 2 sets of arms to hug me back, I'll have 2 adorable children to get excited at Christmas time, I'll have 2 wonderful babies to share with my loving husband.  Yes, it'll be a struggle at times, but I choose to see all of the good that will come from this.  :)

  • I'm 16 weeks and find out the sex this week! I have an OB apt tomorrow and an elective u/s on Wed. I'm so excited!

QOTW: We both had an intuition it was twins.  We joked about it with DS but we did IVF so we kind of expected it. Even though we had an intuition it was still a shock considering all we had to go through to get pregnant with DS and then naturally got pregnant with twins.

  • I'm now on limited activity restriction and taking it easy at home. It feels nice to not be working! I'm so excited for the twins to arrive! My OB office is trying to schedule our c-section for 8/2, but the hospital is full. They are continuing to try. I'll be 37weeks 5days by then. I have a growth scan and NST tomorrow. I hope it goes well!

QOTW: My husband and I were completely shocked! I was really nervous for our first ultrasound. I had been reading too many sad stories on tb forums... I just wanted to see a heartbeat. The tech was asking me how I had been feeling as she got started. As I was telling her how great I've been feeling, I thought I saw 2 things pop up on the screen. But, I had no idea what I was looking at. Then, the tech said "That's great you've been feeling so well. Most women expecting twins don't feel so great their first trimester." My husband and I were like "What?? Are you serious?? Are you kidding?" The tech said she wouldn't kid about something like this. The tears just started streaming down my face as she measured their heartbeats. My husband and I were extremely shocked, but overjoyed. My mom was told she was supposed to be a twin, but that the other baby didn't make it. Because of that, my mom always said I could have twins. I still didn't expect it.

  • 33 weeks yesturday, have my shower this weekend! QOTW: We did IUI and had 3 mature follicles so we knew there was a possibility. It still seems surreal though,, I don't think It will feel real until I have them in my arms.

Well, I had an ultrasound this morning.nbsp;nbsp;I havenbsp;good and bad news.
Twin B has a heart rate of 157bpm and measures 7w3d
Twin A has no cardiac activity and is suspicious for fetal demise and measures 7w0d
So I guess mynbsp;time on this board is over, and I'll be going back to the singletons.nbsp; I'm not sure how to feel right now.nbsp; Part of me is devastated, part of me is relieved, and part of me is guilty for feeling relief, and a big part of me is worried about the health of Twin B.
    Thanks for the Tamp;P everyone.nbsp; I'm hoping for a healthy rest of this pregnancy, and one day I hope to be able to tell my future child that they almost had a twin sibling.nbsp;

I just wanted to say I am sorry for your loss and I am sure all you are feeling is valid and normal. Prayers for a healthy baby B.

  • 33.4 today and day 22 of SBR. I am happy to be holding on to these little guys but my body aches from all this laying on my side. Friday I actually get to go out! It's growth scan day and game plan for meds, bed rest, delivery info. As far as I know they will keep me medicated and in SBR until the 25th. Which is 35 weeks. I will be thrilled if we make it to then!

QOTW: we did IVF and transferred two embryos so had an idea it could happen. But I honestly didn't think it could be considering it took 7.5 years to get a pg. not to mention our failed 1st attempt at IVF. My hubby said he knew all along.

What was your response when you found out you were pregnant with twins, or more?  Did you suspect twins or was it a complete surprise?

My husband and I both said "Oh Sh*t!" in unison in front of our doctor.

This was my reaction exactly - "Oh Sh!t!!" My husband just had a big grin on his face, but was in shock. He said he felt like an unmarried broke 17 yr old all of a sudden lol  We really did NOT think that this would be a possibility. I felt great, no sickness, etc, so I was expecting a blighted ovum, not TWO heartbeats.

I am 12 weeks today and yup, showing. Especially after I eat. We told all of our family and friends over the weekend. We have an NT scan tomorrow, which should be fun (we already got the MaT21 results and are trisomy cleared, so we don't expect to find any issues).  I am on "bed rest" for spotting but it is clearing up nicely so I am working from home. It is nice to cut out the commute and shower (though I work 3 miles from home)

Twins look great - got a check in with the spotting on Thursday and one was kicking the other in the head! They are in so much trouble already!!

  • am 15 weeks today and just got back from an impromptu appointment at my MFM because of some spotting. The babies looked great, as did my cervix so I was cleared to fly to Chicago on Wednesday for a work trip. The nausea seems to be subsiding a bit, although I am still throwing up daily but am hopeful it will be over soon. Have had some cramps, which my doctor attributes to the uterus stretching, and sleeping is starting to get tough. Last night I didn?t sleep longer than a half hour stretch at a time between having to constantly pee, getting used to side sleeping and my two dogs cuddling in the July heat. Can?t wait for my next appointment on the 25thto find out if we are having boy/boy or boy/girl because a Y chromosome was detected in my Mat21 results.

What was your response when you found out you were pregnant with twins, or more?  Did you suspect twins or was it a complete surprise?  I had been on fertility meds and had 3 mature follicles before my IUI, so I had to sign a multiples waiver. My first beta came back high and my progesterone was also high, which my nurse explained meant there was a high probability that more than one could be in there. At my first ultrasound, when the ultrasound tech said we were having twins my first reaction was to ask if they were both ok because after a previous loss I was convinced that this pregnancy wasn?t going to stick as well. DH?s first reaction was, ?I hope it isn?t two hot girls because I can?t handle them dating.?

    BFP #1 on 12/15/11 but missed m/c with d&c on 2/1/12.
BFP #2 on 5/1/13 = boy/girl TWINS with EDD of 1/3/14 but expected no later than 12/20/13.
  • I guess I'll introduce myself!

I've got a 9 yr old and 21 month old b/g twins. I'm expecting my 2nd set of twins Feb 27th. I plan to be Team Green but with all the u/s I'm not sure they can keep genders hushed!

I'm super excited for another set of twins. We did a FET so it wasn't much of a surprise as we transferred to embryos. I think everyone else is more shocked than dh and I.
  • I haven''t checked in in a while, but mainly because I have been taking care of the best things that have ever happened to me--my babies!!!  They arrived on their scheduled date and are absolutely beautiful!  Jordan Christian was born at 12:46 pm, weighing 5 lbs 3 oz and 18 inches.  His big, little sister, Kennedy Elizabeth was born at 12:47 pm, weighing 6 lbs. 1 oz and 19 inches long.  They are great babies and we couldn't be happier.

QOTW:  I was aware that it could be twins since we went through IVF and we chose to put 2 back.  We were both happy and relieved that everything was going as it should.  Now, if it was more than 2, Im not sure what I would've done.

  • New to this post. 8wks 3days with twinsstarted as triplets. We are so excited since we have been trying for almost 5 yrs. The last 2 yrs IVF. This is our first pregnancy. Due date 2/20/13.

    Q:
We were shocked to find out we were pregnant with Triplets! The beta levels were very high, but . My husband and I just kept nervously laughing. Three great embryos were transferred, but this was the 7th attempt. Other transfers also were with great embryos. The only diff was this was the 1st attempt after Laprascopic surgery and they removed lots of endometriosis. The 8 week ultrasound showed 1 baby had not grown since last visit and now did not have a heartbeat. The other two are doing great. I am relieved nature took its course. I was terrified about triplets. The twins will be healthier because of the loss of their sibling. Sad, but happy it was early in the pregnancy.

Babies are officially 3 weeks old! The post says they were born July 23 should be June 23, otherwise they would still be inside babies and way past their due dates ::mobile smiley face::

Everything is going great! They are growing and we are seeing their personalities shine through already!

QOTW: utter disbelief! We don't have twins on either side of our families so completely spontaneous. My husband even made a comment about all his college classes failing him! Haha! The ultrasound tech we saw throughout our pregnancy still laughs and mentions that story.

  • I was extremely hungry early on, ALOT more than with DS so I wondered if it could be twins but still was in complete shock when I found out. I think I sat on the bed saying "oh my gosh" for about 20 minutes!

We of course have let it sink in and are so excited now but I don't think I have ever been so shocked in my life!

  • Update: I'm 15 weeks and the babies are healthy and growing. I have an appointment on Wednesday to check on them. At the last appointment they were measuring a week ahead and moving around a lot.

QOTW: When the u/s tech told us it was twins I was speechless and my DH had to sit down. I had no idea I was having twins.

  • 36 weeks today and I think I hit my breaking point. They offered me a wheelchair at MFM today! A wheelchair! I lost it. I cried like a baby. The ultrasound tech tried to make me feel better. My waddle is now a shuffle. Everything hurts! But, babies are doing great and I can't ask for more. Two more weeks until my scheduled c-section.

  • This is my first check-in!  I found out a week ago now that we are expecting out mo/di twins.  Original due date is 1/20/14.  I am hoping at our next ultrasound in 3 weeks that they will be able to take a good guess at the babies' sexes.

What was your response when you found out you were pregnant with twins, or more?  Did you suspect twins or was it a complete surprise?

I was alone at my NT scan because my husband was home with our almost-2-year-old daughter. The tech was moving the wand around and asked if it was my first ultrasound of the pregnancy, but I already knew why she was asking...I had seen little baby B, too!

I thought maybe there could be twins, but didn't REALLY expect there to be twins.  At 1st appt with my midwife at 10w, she heard an echo when listening to the heartbeat, but thought the echo was my heartbeat.  Then she was surprised we were even able to hear the heartbeat at that stage because my uterus was tilted so far back on exam. Then she told me I was measuring "10 weeks...and change...".  So I guess there were some signs! :-)

  • I'd like to be added!  I am currently 16w4d.  My official due date is 12/27, but we are looking at the beginning of December if all goes well.  I have an 8 yr old and 5 yr old boy from a previous marriage, but this is my current dh's firsts!  We know 1 is a boy for sure and they think the other is a boy also, but we will find out for sure in about 3 weeks!  I can't tell if I've felt the babies move yet (you think I would know after having 2 previously), but hopefully I can feel them soon!

qotw:  We had issues getting pregnant, so these babies are the result of a FET and we had transferred 2 embryos.  No surprise, but just happy we are here!

  • 33 weeks today. Definitely feeling reality setting in that they will be here soon. I'm such a worrier, I wish I could just turn it off sometimes! I really think these hormones are reeking havoc on me... ugh!

I'm very excited to see what position they're in at our ultrasound tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed they're both head-down, but we'll see!

We had a 6-week ultrasound and they just saw one baby... then we had a big SCH bleed at about 9 weeks and went in and they saw both babies... CRAZY! We knew there was a chance at the 6-week, but were told it was just one, so we were blown away at the 9 week ultrasound. We couldn't get over the shock!

  • Hi! New here - only 7w6d in and feel enormous already...

Just found out yesterday we are having twins! I had been spotting for several days and went in to doc yesterday. I was thrilled to hear a healthy heartbeat during the u/s...and then in shock that there were TWO!!! Hubby couldn't believe it when I told him - and not sure I totally believe it yet.

Does this nausea ever go away??? Only thing that seems to make it better is eating all the time, which is why I feel enormous...

I have new respect for everyone here :)

We had a bit of a shock on Saturday night when 5 minutes after going to bed my water broke. No warning, nothing. People joke it's nothing like you see in the movies or on tv, but it kinda was.

Our boys arrived on Sunday, July 14th, both at 3:28 pm. Strange, but the Dr. Had them out less than 30 seconds apart. I will post more on their birth story when I have more time.

Cooper Timothy weighed 6lbs 4oz and is 20 inches long.

Griffin Thomas weighed 5lbs 7oz and is 19.5 inches long.

They are in the NICU because they were not quite 36 weeks but they are doing great. The only thing they struggle with is eating. "Immature" eaters is what the nurses tell me.  But the doctor is happy with them overall.

We transferred three embryos so we knew there was a chance of multiples.

  • Hello! My name is Hayley and this is the first time posting on this board. I'm currently 18w0d with b/g twins due Dec 18th. I just had my monthly check up with my midwife yesterday and she said everything was looking good. I had my 1st appt last Thursday with MFM and they did an extensive ultrasound. I have another appt on Aug9th with them , so my midwife said that since they were going to do the a/s that she wouldn't schedule me for another ultrasound with them and for me to just come back in four weeks. So I have close to another month before I can hear my babies hbs or see them again. I'm a nervous wreck!!
  • I got my official csection date yesterday!! Aug 19th my little ones will be evicted. What a giant relief to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm so excited to meet them.

QOTW mostly relieved that I wasn't crazy. I had already told my entire family that i thought it was twins. And then the panic set in. But with every milestone passed that subsided also.
