Soooo I'm only 12w and 5 days! My dr gave me an u/s and tells me that I'm having a girl! Should I get excited??

Wow so jealous they actually even guessed! I didn't get asked until 20 week u/s if we wanted to know I think this is the norm. I would be excited bit NOT buy everything in pink! I would wait until next ultrasound and get a double check if they ask you again if you are interested in knowing! Congrats!

I wouldn't trust it yet, to be honest. If it was a boy, that would be a tiny bit more reliable. But it's really, really early to be guessing girl.

From what I've heard, boys and girls look about the same at 12 weeks. So I wouldn't go out buying stuff yet.

I have friends who were told around 12 or 13 weeks that they were having a boy, and obviously they were thrilled.  When they had their a/s they found out it was actually a girl.  They spent a few days feeling like their world was rocked because they spent a while thinking it was a boy and buying things, etc.  

I would definitely wait to start buying things until you know for sure at a later ultrasound.

I agree with PPs...I wouldn't buy anything pink yet.

I wouldn't buy any girl themed stuff until after 16 weeks. I don't think boy parts show up until then.
