FFFC!

Re: FFFC!

  • Not long ago, I used to look like this. Despite the fact that my marriage was completely falling apart (and we probably very close to separating) this was still one of the happiest times of my life. The only point in time that could ever come close to defeating that year was the day DD arrived.

I text and drive, bump and drive, facebook and drive, etc. etc.  I know it's bad and I've stopped for brief periods of time (most of the pregnancy, the first few weeks she here).  But with 30 minute commutes twice a day on a straightaway highway, I get so bored!

No offense, but it's people like you that almost hit me when I'm running.

Eta: I literary dodge at least 5 cars while I'm out and about, and I'm all the way over. Most people are on their cell phones, which is illegal here. Please pay attention while you drive.

I've had people try to run my asss over when I'm going through crosswalks and they're texting. Or cut me off so I have to slam on my brakes because they didn't bother to look or signal and when I go around them and give them the finger, they don't see because they're too busy staring at their laps or the phone held up on their steering wheel. It pissed me off before, but now that I always have a child with me, the selfishness enrages me.

I'm sorry, but I'm judging you hard and I think this makes you an ***. If someone hits me and hurts my kids because they were texting, I would kill them. I drive 2 hours to work, and yes it's boring, but I won't put innocent people in danger to entertain mysf. Get a book on cd FFS.

Yikes.  I think we can all agree (including myself) that what MrsGreen does is dangerous, as she herself admitted...but c'mon now, do we really need to name call? A lot of what people say on here is controversial, but it's supposed to be "flame-free."  She knows that it's wrong, came on here to confess.  I think the FFFC we have now is going to discourage people from actually confessing things like we used to if people are going to flame like we have been lately. I know people are going to disagree with me, and probably flame me as well for this, but I don't think attacking her like this is necessary.  Maybe PM her if you take a personal issue with it?  IDK...

Yes, in this case, I think it is warranted.  In fact, I think she deserves a whole lot worse than what I called her.  This is so much worse than blowing your DH while nursing.  She is willingly and knowingly putting her life, her child's life, and the lives of everyone else on the road in danger because she's bored.  Would you be saying the same thing if she hit you and killed your child?  She could KILL someone doing this.  So no, I'm not going to sit by and hold her hand and sing kumbaya with her. This is an issue that I will not back down on, not when it is my kids' saftey in question.

I completely understand and agree about how dangerous what she is doing is.  I never said anything about holding her hand, just that I felt the name calling was unnecessary.  JMO.

My FFFC is that I judge people that go to Panama City beach in Florida for vacation. They don't call it "the redneck riviera" for nothing.
I've been on lots of vacays to the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area which is also "redneck riviera" territory. If you stay at a decent resort, it's really not so bad.

My aunt has condos in Orange Beach and I was shocked how nice Alabama beaches are. Gulf Shores is a little more "red". We love OB though.

  • I get that it sounds harsh, but would you still feel that way had it been a bottle of vodka instead of a phone? Here are some stats to prove my point:

Below is a study that was performed by Car and Driver Magazine.

"Driving 70 MPH on a deserted air strip, Car and Driver editor Eddie Alterman was slower and slower reacting and braking when e-mailing and texting."

    The Results:

    Unimpaired: .54 seconds to break

    Legally Drunk: add 4 feet

Reading an e-mail: add 36 feet

Sending a text: add 70 feet.

Here's my second "flame free" confession - I said a big FU to each of you said how dangerous my first post is.  No kidding, really?  That's totally news to me!!!

Oh please, seriously? People give you a nice, sorry for the flames but that is dangerous, message, and you are thinking fuckyou? How about if someone sees you pull that shiit with your kid in the car and calls the cops and gets your two month old kid pulled by CPS? Would you give someone an FU on that too? Or when you get in that inevitable car wreck? Be fuckings grateful that people on this board care for you enough to be nice about it, instead of telling you what a fuckings twatwaffle you are. You are not only putting yourself in danger, which I dont give a shiit about, but when assholez like you put your kids, or me and my kid, in danger, fuckyou too you frigging douchebag moron. Dumbasses like you are the reason there are so many more car wrecks than there used to be you twit. If a 30 minute drive is too boring for you, then STAY HOME AND STAY OFF THE FUCKINGS ROAD.

If you know how dangerous it is why would you continue to do it?  I find it very difficult to believe you cannot find something else to keep you entertained for a 30 minute drive that does not involve a crime and putting hundreds of other lives at risk. It takes someone truly selfish to risk so much on behalf of everyone around them, including your child.

Wow.  As if your first post wasn't bad enough.  How bloody selfish and arrogant of you.

You want to run into a telephone poll and kill yourself?  Ok.  What is not ok is the putting other people in danger aspect.  I cannot not flame this.  If anyone ever hits me and my child is in the car they better hope I am injured too because I will do unspeakable things to them for being so reckless.  I wouldn't expect someone with such little regard for their own safety to understand that though.

But zomg Facebook and TB are soooooo interesting, who cares about innocent drivers!  Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

Did you really, seriously think that you were going to come on here, tell everyone that you are doing the equivalent of driving drunk on your 30 minute commute (seriously?  That's all? I drive 35-40 and it's seriously NBD) and expect people to NOT call you out on it?  Have you suffered a head injury that causes memory loss that made you forget what this board was like?

Also, I hope you don't live anywhere near me because I don't want you to get me killed.

Texting and driving is dangerous.  Plain and simple.   You could kill someone because of your Cartman-like attitude of "Whatevah! I do what I want!".

This just makes you sound even worse.

It does. I just don't understand why its so hard to just wait until you get home. 30 minute drive is NOT that long. Pay attention and get off your phone. And if you won't, then at least don't do it while your child is in the car. For heavens sake, don't put your sweet daughter in danger.

I am laughing (in a so not funny way) at A)you thinking a 30 minute commute is soooo long and B) the fact that you are do cavalier about this. Texting while driving impairs you MORE than drinking and driving. Would you get drunk and drive? With your daughter in the car? Would you then laugh off that you did it? What if someone else was either drunk or texting in their car, and hit you, causing serious brain injury or death to you or your child? Do you still think that is nothing? It's ok because that person was BORED??? People like you drive me freaking insane with your complete disregard for your life and others. Because you are too freaking bored for THIRTY MINUTES.

I get that it sounds harsh, but would you still feel that way had it been a bottle of vodka instead of a phone? Here are some stats to prove my point:

Below is a study that was performed by Car and Driver Magazine.

"Driving 70 MPH on a deserted air strip, Car and Driver editor Eddie Alterman was slower and slower reacting and braking when e-mailing and texting."

    The Results:

    Unimpaired: .54 seconds to break

    Legally Drunk: add 4 feet

Reading an e-mail: add 36 feet

Sending a text: add 70 feet.

Edited to remove giant quote box.

But see, this is an appropriate response. You're giving valid information. Is she going to stop texting b/c an Internet stranger called her an a-hole? No. But maybe legitimate information will have more of an influence. I just don't see the point of responding that way.

    Good point.

Its no secret that name-calling is more for self-gratification rather clarity, so as long as that's acknowledged, to each their own.

Absolutely. The name calling has tamped down the desire to reach through the interwebz and smack some sense into her head. Total self gratification.

Besides, everyone knows that twatwaffle idiots never acknowledge or own their twatwaffleness.

Dude, come on. All I'm saying is that we all know that calling her an azz isn't going to change her mind, and that as long as we know that, its not my place to judge how people respond.

Just because its a heated thread doesn't mean you have to get p.o'd at everyone.

Oh, I 100% know that my calling her an a-hole isn't going to stop her.  Neither is your info.  She already said she knows it is dangerous, but keeps doing it anyways (you know, so eff all of us).  Therefore, I call them as I see them.  And I think this is the first time I've ever called anyone a name on here, and I don't plan to make a habit of it.  This one gets under my skin though, so I'll take my self-gratification.

Totally cool with it, honestly. I know nothing is going to make a difference to her.

Andplusalso, I just remembered that she said "f*ck us" because we "flamed (aka politely advised her) about her dangerous behavior.

My confession: I just put Camden in front of the TV in his bouncy so I could clean. He loves the TV so much and I really needed some time away to clean this filthy house. He was so content, too. I just feel bad that I subjected him to the TV this early... :-X

And a pic because he just looked SO cute watching cartoons while snuggling his blankie.

Yes, but when does he not look cute?

My FFFC is that I judge people that go to Panama City beach in Florida for vacation. They don't call it "the redneck riviera" for nothing.

    LOL

The water is really pretty, though.

  • I just want to say, I love you TK. And what you said was 100% spot on. This is "flame-free" confessions, but when someone confesses to something dangerous, that goes out the window. If someone asked you to keep a secret, but then they told you they were going to kill someone, would you REALLY keep it a secret? I hope not. I hope you'd tell someone. This is no different. When someone is admitting to something dangerous, I should hope someone would say something. I am happy to see these responses and I hope Mrs.Green listens.

    Cute pic.

Graham watches the Today Show with me every morning while I eat breakfast and drink my coffee.

Yesterday we watched a rerun of Grey's Anatomy.

At least Camden is watching cartoons...

J doesn't seem interested in TV yet, and I wish she were. It would make life so much easier. I have no problem with it. Right now, she just spaces out at the fan. At least TV offers more varied stimuli. lol

  • MrsGreen you are a complete selfish simple minded azzhole.  If you ever hurt someone I loved with your selfishness you would have quite a lot on your hands to deal with.

    Oh, and FU too.

I wish L was content sitting in a bouncer watching tv!  If he's not eating or being bounced around, he's pretty dissatisfied.

Not long ago, I used to look like this. Despite the fact that my marriage was completely falling apart (and we probably very close to separating) this was still one of the happiest times of my life. The only point in time that could ever come close to defeating that year was the day DD arrived.

    thats gross

  • I always sat Edie in front of the TV.  It didn't make her a TV zombie.  She could care less about TV.  I wish she cared more!!!!!
