That was in response to Missus Texas. She said animal rights were more important than human ones. I think that's insane.
I didn't say that, but either way you obviously care about human ones more than animal, so between people like you and people like me I think all rights are covered.
I must have misunderstood this:
MissusTexas:
I care more about animal rights than human ones.
Yes. I am and always will be more concerned with human rights than animal ones. This is NOT to suggest that mistreating animals is acceptable or that animal charites are not a valid use of resources. I personally have spent way to much time at the children's hospital watching kids dying to consider their rights less concerning than those of stay cats. That's just me.
I didn't make a broad statement about human rights being less important than animal ones, but I PERSONALLY care more about animal than human rights. That doesn't mean I don't care about human rights, it means that I would rather spend my time and money on animals than humans.. Which is my right and UO.
I don't think you're a single parent if you move in with your parents. Technically, it's a three parent household, you've got more adult eyes and hands at your disposal than most 2 parent household.
I have a coworker whose husband left her over a year ago, and she moved in with her parents. We've been told to allow her special accomodations because it's so hard being a single parent. Seriously? She gets to leave her kid at home when she goes grocery shopping. She gets to take showers alone while her mom feeds the kid breakfast. How exactly is she a "single parent"?
I think this is incredibly naive. I moved in with my XH's parents when I left him (long story, but same thought). I took him with me when I went to the grocery store, and he came in the bathroom with me when I showered or I showered while he was sleeping. Just because they were there, does not mean that they are automatically built in babysitters. They aren't his parents, I am, and I did it 100% on my own. The only reason I lived with them at all was because I left and didn't have anything. There was no way I could afford to live on my own.

I'd rather give my money to animal charities than those that benefit humans.
My philosophy is that humans can help themselves, animals can't.
I've come across a couple of people that have the same philosophy and none of them have ever had to face any kind of human tragedy in their lives; and in some respects I think they are very fortunate and lead very charmed lives. It's a very naive statement to save humans can help themselves; you might change your mind if you go to a third world country and see real poverty or have a parent die of cancer for unexplained reasons.
Done and done. Well, grandparent. I've been to several countries with real poverty, and it is sad.
It is very, very sad. I'm just surprised that your experiences haven't made you more compassionate. But you are more than entitled to your way of thinking and we need people out there that care for animal rights.
