And bought the Sophie. It's an obscene amount of money to spend on a teether but my Dad got us a gift card to BRU for xmas so...here we are. LO loves the damn thing.

Sophie is a ridiculous amount of money, indeed, but my LO loves his too. At least Martin is enjoying his luxury teething toy! Imagine if you'd spent that much and he didn't take to it.
What is the deal with Sophie? Does it do something special besides just being a hard teether?
It squeaks. Yeah I know dumb but I gave in and got one for LO at 6 months. He did not take to it for the first few weeks. Now he cant get enough of that thing! I am such a cheap bastard normally but $17 to give my LO such joy is a small price to pay.

I just caved and bought one too with a gift card. We had a playdate the other day with a friend and her LO and she had a Sophie. My DD kept stealing it from her. I had to pry it out of her fingers before they left. No clue why she likes it so much but she's getting one too!
i thought we could get by without after losing the first one. we did. but after getting a replacement sophie i now see there was a certan joy missing from stella's life. you sould see her face light up when she sees sophie!

When i bought mine at BBB ( using a 20%coupon to justify getting it the lady at the register guaranteed my lo would love it and told me if he didnt to just bring it back for a refund. Of coure he loves it! It was really worth the money so good for you for getting it. Lol

My LO isn't a huge fan of sophie or any other teether. It wasn't a total waste though since it is the only toy he can sqeak himself, and that's kind of fun. I'm glad your LO likes it hepcats!!
Reed got the Sophie bath toy for Christmas and he LOVES it. I was totally one of those people that thought it was ridiculous to spend so much on a teething toy, but I'm tempted to buy the original one too...
Late to the post, but I had been holding out before buying one a month or two ago. In Canada it is $21. Guess what, our 2 pizzas last night were $26. DS loves Sophie...and the pizza is gone, other than what's left of it on my thighs!
Re: We gave in
LO loves his too.
Confession: We actually have two of them...the origional Sophie and the little one with handles. He loves them both so much.

LO loves Sophie, it's really the only toy that calms him down. Luckily I got mine at my baby shower or else I wouldn't have bought it.
Also, your DS looks absolutely adorable, as usual!
We have both too! Big sophie was Jacobs and my mom got James the little one
