Retained placenta after c-section?

I am 10 weeks PP, and still spotting.  Had an u/s this morning to rule out retained placenta.  The u/s showed "something" in my uterus, although the sonographer wasn't able to elaborate on what that "something" is.  I'm assuming its the retained placenta my OBGYN suspected and am waiting to hear from her.  It seems weird to me that I may have this after a c-section though - can't the surgeon typically tell whether or not they got everything out??  So I have to admit I'm kinda freaked out over this "something."  Anyone else have experience with this?

I had one, but only in the sense that the placenta wouldn't deliver during my c/s.  It had to be pulled out piece by piece and I had some hemmorhaging issues.  I bleed the full six weeks.  I think they are less common with c/sections in that yes the surgeon can tell.

I had the same thing happen. My retained placenta was removed via surgery at 14 weeks PP. I was told we could wait and see if it passes or remove it. If I chose to wait and see I ran the risk of forming scar tissue and causing problems if we wanted to have another baby. I opted for the surgery...they were in and out in 30 minutes.
