Ferber Method & spitting up

So, I am trying to get my DD to fall asleep on her own again.  She used to be able to, that is until she learned to roll from her back to tummy.  I want to try the Ferber Method but the problem is...my DD spits up every time she is on her stomach.  I can't imagine leaving her in her room, have her roll over, and lay in her spit up.  So we won't be trying the Ferber method until she stops spitting up so much Sad Anyone have this problem?

Re: Ferber Method & spitting up

  • With Ferber you still check on her so you could roll her back over if you need to. Could you also try feeding her a bit earlier so her tummy isn't so full when she goes to bed?

DD doesn't roll in bed, but she does spit up occasionally when she's on her tummy.

That is good idea but she eats about 1 1/2 hr before she goes to bed. If we fed her any earlier she would probably need to eat in the middle of the night.

She spits up pretty much the second her stomach hits the ground.  When I hear her wake up, I try to get to her room quickly.  If not, she will spit up since she rolls over the as soon as she wakes up.

Hmm. What about decreasing the amount she is eating? I can see what you mean though about not wanting her to wake hungry if you do this. It might be worth a shot though?
