2nd Trimester

brow waxing

Pre-pregnancy, I got my brows waxed about every six weeks or so. I got them done once at 7 weeks and besides it hurting really bad, I broke out so bad afterwards. it looked awful for like two weeks straight! I really want to get them done again, but I don't want to break out again. Anyone else experience this? Could it have been just first trimester hormones that made me break out or will I probably have the same reaction now at 25 weeks?

Re: brow waxing

  • I haven't gone for waxing because plucking hurts way more than usual since I got pg...I'm afraid to go for a wax.

  • i do hair, and i also break out really bad when i get my eyebrows waxed while prego. i would say most of my clients who chose to still wax while pregnant have lots of issues they deal with like skin coming off serious irritation and breaking out its all hormones and theres not a whole lot u can do about it except washing your face right after you get them waxed and not wearing makeup for 24 hours. Ive found that helps alot and asking your esthetitian to wash her hands before the wax.
  • have you tried threading?  I don't think it would cause breakouts like wax can.
  • Ditto the threading although it hurts like a SOB.  I found that if I washed my face/used astringent on the recently waxed area asap my breakouts were much less.

I have never heard of such a thing! What is that?

  • I switched to threading my brows/upper lip and my breakouts are a lot less.  Had the bikini line waxed for the babymoon (can't thread there) and it hurts about a million times more than pre-prego.  Female-scaping is no fun at all....

  • I'm sorry i'm so late with this response...hopefully you see it.  Threading is a method of hair removal using thread.  It's done my mostly Indian people (I believe they use threading a lot in their culture) and it is a lot less irritating than wax.  They catch your hairs in the thread and yank them out.  It can be a little painful but I usually keep my eyes closed the whole time and it minimizes the pain for me.  I love it though and your eyebrows look much neater than with waxing, in my opinion.
