I'm not religious but my son does have godparents. It's a woman who I grew up with and is very much like a sister to me and her husband.
If something should happen to me, I was to be absolutely sure that he will be in good hands.
Your husband should understand how important this is to you, and you just want the best for your child whether you're alive or not.
