Question about Oxi Clean

Does it work on old stains?  Ever since we switched to Dreft, DD's really nice clothes are coming out of the wash with the same stains they went in with.  This is also partially due to my DH and his mother doing the baby's laundry these days and not bothering to pre-treat. DD has some perfectly good clothes that have these terrible stains (prunes, unidentified food products) and really aren't fit to pass along even though other wise they are in great condition.  Any chance oxi clean (or is it oxy clean) could get that stuff out?

Re: Question about Oxi Clean

  • You might try soaking her stuff in OxyClean, that may help the old stains, and then put it in the wash as well.  OC is amazing stuff - it has really saved several of T's nice outfits after DC and an unfortunate incident with brand new jeans (accidentally washed with everything, and turned most of it blue.  Thank you, DH, do not touch my laundry again).  :)

LOL.  My DH has shrunk more silk sweaters (can you please LOOK at the clothes BEFORE you toss them in the dryer?) than I care to remember.  I really should prohibit him from doing the laundry, but the logistics of our laundry situation (no laundry in the bldg, no laundromat close by) makes it unavoidable.  I will try the oxyclean, then.  Some of this stuff is BabyGap, to cute to toss!

  • I soak things in OxiClean.  There have been a few items that had been in the dryer and had stains baked in and the results have been about 50/50 with those but as long as they haven't been in the dryer, OxiClean is a Godsend!
  • Oxy Clean is FABULOUS and really works.  I've used it on old stains and the clothes come out looking brand spanking new.  Definitely do a soak in it first, then put some in the wash as well.  Usually the soak gets most of the stain out anyways.

  • I LOVE Oxy Clean!!  I have had very good luck with it and DD's clothes..even DH's work clothes that are greasy and dirty from farming.  DD has these cute swimsuit covers that she would wear at the lake and thanks to Oxy Clean, they came out looking brand new.  Okay~ I know that I am the only stupid one out there that would get white suitsuit covers for our lake lot...which is pure sand, with a little dirt and grass.  It was brown one day (rained and she found the mud puddles...couldn't pull her away) and then next day......wonderfully white!!
  • Yes it does (for the most part) get out old stains.  What I did was spray the stains with Spray and Wash and then let them soak in Oxy Clean for a couple of hours.  Rinsed out and then put in the washer.  And then I checked for stains before putting them in the dryer.  For me about 98% of all stains came out and even the clothes were brighter.  It was a happy laundry day for me.  :-)
