Congrats on your beautiful boy! I know that your emotions must be all over the place right now, but I just wanted to say that you are obviously a GREAT mom. Perhaps that is the reason this little one with extra needs is with you. I can't wait to see more pics of him.
Please vent/cry on here all you need!
Rebecca- mom to 3 kids: DS born 2005, DD born 2007 and DS born 2010.
I don't think I could say anything more eloquently than xb, but he is beautiful - and congratulations on your new little boy!! I'm sure he will bring so much love and life to your family.
He couldn't have been more lucky to have been born to your wonderful family!!! I'm sure you'll get through any challenges with ease and as always, we're here whenever you need us!
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! He is going to amaze you.
As for finding out at birth and all the emotions that come with that, if you ever want to talk, I'm here. I found out about DD not having a hand as they put her on my belly, and it was a unique emotional journey. It's hard for someone to imagine all the thoughts and emotions that come with such a surprise, but I've been there. And it gets better once you move through it.
And then it just keeps getting better, because these special kids are amazing in so many ways. And later you might find, like I do, that you were given this beautiful gift that wraps itself around you and teaches you that everything you thought you knew about life was nothing in comparison to what you'll learn by holding, watching, and teaching this baby.
If you ever need to talk, we are here. I have a feeling that Miles is one lucky baby though to have you as a momma.
(((((HUGS))))). I'm glad he's super healthy! He's beautiful and he's very lucky to have you as his mommy!

I'M GRAPE JELLY- ALWAYS AROUND & ALWAYS THE SAME
If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me. For I must be traveling on now. Because there are too many places I've got to see. -Allen Collins & Ronnie VanZant
My favorite verse!
What a lucky little boy to have been born to such a wonderful, capable mother! Thinking of you and sending lots of love your way as you welcome Miles into your family.
I'm sure finding out something is wrong is overwhelming, esp at first, and you can cry, vent etc as much as you want or need to. I am glad that the good news is filtering in (like his hearing test and no heart defects). A friend of mine had a baby with special needs and despite the challenges that come with raising a special needs child you gain a lot too. They have a way of bringing your family together in ways you couldn't have imagined before, they teach you about what is Really important in your family and your life and help you to not sweat the little things. He's a beautiful baby and you will be a faboulous mommy to him.
The responses to your post are making me cry, too! I don't think truer words have ever been written--you are an amazing mom who has been gifted with an amazing child. Just as we all know you will take this challenge and turn it into something incredible, God knew it, too. He sent you this baby boy because you are the absolute best parents in the world for him! He's a very lucky baby and you are both very lucky parents=) Congrats on your beautiful family, Cooker. Thank-you for sharing this with us and letting your nest family be here for you.
Evelyn-Mommy to Ben 9.20.05 and Emily 5.14.07 and Callie 7.10.09!
Sarah, it's rare for me to be at a loss for words, but I've been staring at the screen for so long trying to think of something that didn't sound cliched.
I am so thrilled for you on the birth of your beautiful son. I'm so sorry there will be extra challenges ahead, and my heart aches both for you and him knowing that things may be more difficult than usual. But please know there are so many of us who really care about you and will be here, no matter what.
Everyone else has already said it so well, but I just want to add my congratulations on your beautiful son. It's great that he doesn't have any of the health problems typically associated with Down Syndrome. There are many more resources available and people are more educated about and accepting of children with special needs than ever before. You have a great attitude and Miles is lucky that you're his mom!
I can't think of another Nestie who would/will handle this as you will/have. I am glad little Miles (feels weird not calling him BSF!) has you for his mother, he is very lucky.
We are all here for you, day or night, to help you with whatever you need to do-cry, vent, cheer, you name it.
I hope this doesn't sound cliche, but my favorite patient is special needs with a condition similar to Downs. He is a walking miracle in that anyone who is around him can't help smiling and having a better day. I can only imagine how much joy he brings his parents on a daily basis.
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! He is one lucky baby to have you as his mommy.
Welcome Baby Miles! And Congrats to his loving family. and that includes all the nest family for three pgs. of such great support. I, like many probably, are looking forward to watching Miles grow through what you share. He is beautiful.
I'm new to this board, but I just wanted to say congrats on your beautiful son!
I can't imagine how hard this is for all of you, but you seem to have an amazing outlook on things. Big hugs and well wishes to your entire family, especially sweet little Miles.
I can empathize with you on the topic of getting tough news and needing to cycle through all those emotions. We're here if/when you need to! But you sound like you're handling it all in stride and you already are focusing on the most important thing: that he is a beautiful, healthy baby that is already bringing so much joy to your family!
I can only imagine that it would be a difficult time you're going through as well as an amazing time now having a sweet baby boy to add to your family. He was very blessed to get the family he did and I bet his big sis is just going to love him endlessly (with a few arguments thrown in).

Sara- Hugs to you and your family during this difficult time. Enjoy that beautiful baby boy and all the joys he will bring to your family. I am so sorry that you're now on a different path than you expected, but it will still be a wonderful journey.
Congratulations on the birth of your son Miles!!! I know it's not what you expected, however I am so glad to hear that he is happy and healthy...that's all you can ask for. Everything else will fall into place. You are an amazing mom and i know you will excell at providing Miles the very best life as you do with Norah!

Congratulations on your baby. He's a blessing.
I'm just curious, though. Did you have an NT scan done? If so, what odds did they give you?
Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! He is going to amaze you.
