OK, deep breath here.....
Just wanted to get that out in the open to everyone. I've only told a few friends and obviously our families so far....it's been a hard week but things are getting better.
We had no idea until they handed him to us and I just knew. He has the Down Syndrome eyes and his ears were small and lower set. No cleft palate, but I could just tell. We got the official test results back yesterday, which confirmed Trisomy 21, or Down Syndrome.
We were pretty devastated initially. I cried a lot Monday, but the good news just keeps rolling in about him. No heart defects, which Down babies have a 50 percent chance of, he passed his hearing test with flying colors and has great muscle strength for a Down baby. He also has a great latch and sucking reflex, so nursing is going OK with him so far.
And, obviously, he's beautiful and just the sweetest being on earth. He's already brought our family closer together and I think he'll bring us so much joy in other areas of our lives as well.
Just wanted everyone on here to know as I start posting more photos of him. I also may need to vent/cry/etc. as we start dealing with the challenges of raising a special needs child.
And thanks again to everyone for your congrats and well wishes. I appreciated them so much!!?

FINALLY!!! After 7 years of infertility!
I am sure he will touch your lives in ways you can't even imagine.
Good luck with everything.
I cannot imagine the roller coaster of emotions that you and your family are dealing with at this time. That is good news that there are no heart problems, and also that he is doing so well.
Post some pictures of that new beautiful baby soon.
My thoughts are with you! Stay strong!
((hugs)) I'm not going to say anything trite or cliche'. Just know we're all here for you.
Cooker, I haven't had a chance to congratulate you yet- I wasn't online when you posted his birth announcement. Congratulations! He's gorgeous. This might sound odd, but babies with Down's often are breathtakingly beautiful.
I work with adults who have Down's. The two men I currently work with have very happy, fulfilled lives: they have girlfriends, they have jobs, they have their own apartments, belong to a bowling league, take vacations, have their own friends, interests and hobbies. I'm certain that Miles will grow up to be just as happy and fulfilled with his life.
Congratulations again.
Oh my love. I can't imagine how hard it must be to hear that news but I know that seeing him, holding him...etc, you don't care. He's yours and he's perfect. Whatever challenges you may face, you will get through.
I want to keep seeing him and Nora and both of their beautiful faces and nothing will take away from that.
We are always here for whatever you need and its ok to vent, cry, etc.

Oh honey, *hugs*. I bet that was hard to learn but he is absolutely perfect and will be a huge joy. He is lucky to have you for mom and Nora as a big sister.
Was this a total shock? Was it discussed at all when he was in utero?
I couldn't have said it better than this. ((HUGS))
(((((hugs))))))
During this very difficult time it sounds like you've got the right attitude. You realize that he is a happy and sweet baby and he will bring unfathomable joy to your life. But you also have every right to cry, vent, mourn and ask why.
I can't wait to see more pictures of your beautiful son!
