Re: May Symptoms Thread

  • Every afternoon I hit a wall and feel dead tired. Sitting at my desk struggling to keep my eyes open. Thinking I might need to cut my morning coffee in half and add the other half into my afternoon routine. It doesn't matter if it's a weekend or weekday, or got enough rest the night before. It hits every day.

  • @mnmomma84 I can't help, but I can say you're not alone. Even on a calm day with little physical activity, I need a 1-2 hour nap in the afternoon... which doesn't happen on work days :(
  • @mnmomma84
you ain't lie.  my (only partially effective) solution is half-caf coffee in the morning and then a soda with lunch.
    Current pregnancy -
First BFP on 1/4/22.  Due date 9/13/22.

Four prior losses, no living children - 1 first trimester miscarriage, 1 blighted ovum, 1 chemical, and one extreme premature live birth daughter who died at 15 days old.

  •  Ugh, the struggle! A soda sounds like it might help. Looking forward to the weekend nap already!!

@mnmomma84 right there with you! I try and walk around the school mid afternoon. I’m still tired but feel less like I might actually fall Asleep. It’s getting a little too hot though. High is 98° on a Thursday 🥵
  • @mnmomma84 Same, girl. Have you ever tried the V8+ Energy drinks? The energy comes from tea and vitamins that give you steady energy instead of a major caffeine kick that will cause you to crash. They're not something everyone likes, but when I need something to get through and don't want to be jittery later, they help. I like the orange pineapple ones, but the pomegranate blueberry (I think that's the blend) is good too.

I'll try them out!! I always liked the V8 fruit blend juices so might like those, too!
  • @mnmomma84 I hit that wall most days. The worst part is its during my prep period at school so I get nothing accomplished. Today I got through working with my husband's fsa and I was like I can't do any work anymore. I want to nap.
  • I cannot seem to regulate my temperature today!  Working from home since I'm still recovering from this sinus infection and I'm boiling then freezing then boiling then freezing.  My thermostat must think I'm nuts because I keep changing it up or down by two degrees!

  • @jhysmath I have had about... one or two prep periods since February when I did not nap. If I am useless anyways, it should count as prep so I can do my job after my prep.
  • @pangolindrome I don't think I could finish a nap in my prep time, and my advisory students would be coming in and waking me up and I'd be as grumpy as my 4 year old is today because she didn't want to wake up from her nap at preschool.
  • @jhysmath Fair. Mine is 54 minutes and attached to lunch. I usually settle for a half hour because I'll get distracted and that's all that's left. Being grumpy would definitely not help.
  • @dvmmomma I’ve been absolutely ravenous lately…. Dinner is almost ready and I can’t stop snacking because I’m starving! Snacks all day long! I know I should slow down but I’m so damn hungry!!
  • @pangolindrome We are big fans of the squeeze bottle in our house. Also works awesome for toddlers!!!
  • +1 to being tired in the middle of the day. On the weekends I nap, during the work week I drink a cup of half caff in the am and afternoon.
  • @maple1422 same but at like 3:30 / 4am! Usually my brain just wakes up out of nowhere and then she starts kicking. I just get up and read for a bit until I go back to sleep and at least my work schedule is flexible for now  if I need to sleep more. But it’d be nice to have a regular body clock again.
  • @dvmmomma heck yeah! Appetite is so up and down especially with heartburn that’s stuck around since the first tri. And sometimes when I’m very full and know I couldn’t eat another bite I’ll see the Taco Bell breakfast box or the Pizza Hut dinner box commercial and think “Yes! That is exactly what my life needs right now!” Staying hydrated plus trying not to go too long between meals so I don’t feel like Cookie Monster helps somewhat.
  • @trapperkeeper87 Those sound V8 drinks sound good! I'm gonna have to hunt for those today.

@foreveronyourside snacking is exactly what my doctor recommended! Healthy snacks, but she said “graze” all day to combat acid reflux, feeling too full/uncomfortable, nausea from going to long without eating….basically all the things lol.
  • @laj0217 Are you having regular bowel movements? When I get a little backed up, my acid reflux gets worse, which makes perfect sense.

@trapperkeeper87 luckily no constipation. I’ve always been really regular. I do have acid reflux issues, though, and had my gallbladder removed due to them about 5 or 6 year ago. Doctor was more concerned at the time that my weight gain was low and I wasn’t eating dinner bc I was too full. But she said snacking is good for all the possible problems.
  • I do black  tea for a caffeine boost. Mint tea has been doing wonders for digestion. Highly recommend
  • @bigworldlittleg thunder nuts! 😂
  • LOL @ thunder nuts!!!
My jokester is super proud of the fact that when I was complaining about hot flashes and the swass that accompanies it, he suggested taking a SWASSpirin. What comedians!
  • You guys, I have a problem, and that problem is hemorrhoids. I’ve tried witch hazel and it helps a little but not really much. Is there anything else I can do?
For the record, I’m not at all constipated. Actually, the opposite (I’ve been going probably three times per day since I got pregnant).
Any advice anyone has would be GREATLY appreciated. Being on my feet for any period of time is becoming painful… Ever since I hit 23 weeks this has become a persistent problem :-/
  • @blanket_girl go without panties at night. Extra air. Wear cotton underwear and breathable fabrics. Use warm water on tissue to wipe and do gentle patting.
  • @blanket_girl I'm having that problem currently, but it's because I can only poop once a week now and it is not fun. Even with stool softeners. I've been using hemorrhoid cream with lidocaine the last couple days because I can't sleep or sit comfortably. Standing makes me feel better.

You can also try Epsom salt baths, ice packs, and leaving the witch hazel pads on over night.
  • @blanket_girl have you tried Tucks pads? They have witch hazel and are advertised for hemorrhoids. I bought them for postpartum and they really helped soothe everything down there though I surprisingly didn’t get hemorrhoids from delivering a baby. I would line up a few of them on a pad and keep them on until I had to go to the bathroom again. Worth a shot? Sorry you’re experiencing this 😞
  • My belly is HAIRY
  • laj0217laj0217 member
@ashking0922 my underarm hair, which I lasered off, is coming back. I’m blaming the testosterone from having a boy but I have zero scientific backing for this. It just makes me feel better 😂
  • @ashking0922 Yup. Same. This time and last time, the hair grows so long and dark on my belly while pregnant. I think it has to do with hair not falling out as much, so it seems worse, but I don't know. Either way, I could do without that.

  • @ashking0922 you aren’t alone. 😩

@laj0217 My MIL swore that she hardly shaved her legs with my SIL but every two days with my husband, so I think it checks out. I haven’t been shaving my legs nearly as often as usual.
  • @pangolindrome I’ve had to shave SO MUCH MORE since getting pregnant and I’m having a boy… maybe this checks out 🤔
  • I'm having a boy and I rarely have to shave.

  • My hair didn't grow much with my daughters. It's also not growing much now, but we are team green. I feel like we're going to have a boy, but I would love for this to check out and we have a girl.
  • @blanket_girl I've been getting hemeroids too. It's not too painful to wipe when I use wet wipes. I put them in those plastic diaper bags/doggy poo bags once used so they don't smell up the garbage can since even flushable wipes clog toilets. Also, don't push when pooping. Let your body do the work. This is also good practice for labor 😜
  • @jhysmath With me, our daughter-to-arrive, and our dog (Tosha), my husband very jokingly says he's an island on an estrogen ocean.
  • +1 for hemeroids. The tucks pads provide relief, but hasn't healed them. I'm going to try the other recommendations
