Re: I’m just here for the SEX

  • That one was right for me twice and for my sister and 2 friends. So idk. It’s weird lol. I’m curious to see how it works out for everyone!!
@wigglyicecream I’ve already reused my stuff, I’m ready to buy something new haha. Realistically I’ll probably reuse most of my stuff though. Lol

  • @paytonpedro thank you for sharing! How exciting! Hope it's right for me too!!  <3
  • Has anyone tested a few old wives tales to see which they lean more in favor of? Obviously it’s just for fun, but ours lean heavily towards a girl, including the Mayan calculation and Chinese calendars and several symptoms! Not that they are accurate even if it’s a girl, but I want to see if they are really close or way off!🤣
  • @meagan822 with my last pregnancy I had every symptom/ wives tale pointing towards girl and he is definitely not a girl lol. This time I haven’t paid too close attention yet but I’ll have to go through and write them out!
  • @wigglyicecream I love that idea! I think it would be fun and help build up excitement of finding out the sex.
  • I love that idea of a old wives tale thread! Two weeks from today I get my blood drawn, so within a month we will know the gender! If I already know before a thread is started, I will compare what the old wives tale predicted to what gender we are actually having!
  • I did the chart and it was wrong for both…I guess the odds are 50/50! Also very interesting to think about in the context of ivf bc technically I made 3 girls and 1 boy all in one batch!
  • One thing I have heard, maybe from catholic sex Ed haha, is that if the sex that led to the baby was close to when you ovulated, it’s a boy, and if it is further from when you ovulated, it’s a girl. Something about fast sperm that die quickly leading to a boy and slower sperm that live longer leading to a girl. This very scientific logic holds true for my first. Maybe someone who charted can see if it’s true for them too!
  • @buffythevampireslayer I’ve heard the same thing about how close to O and it determine sex of the baby. I read that sperm with y swim fast but are lazy and x sperm swim slower but are stronger. Points to something I’ve already thought which is females are indeed the stronger sex.
  • @coco2787 true but it’s as good an old wive’s tale as any!
  • @buffythevampireslayer I've heard that too. I did chart but because we were trying we tried all possible fertile days 😬🙈  so hard to say which day even got the job done 🤷‍♀️

I've looked at the lunar gender chart and it said girls both times and was right both times. Though it was just luck, it's kind of fun. There are so many old wives tales! Like sweet cravings = girl. Well, I craved totally different things with both girls (sour/fruity for my first, savory/salty for my second) so that's debunked for me at least. I can't wait to find out, I really have no clue this time.
  • @starkette Yes!! There are so many! I think I checked around 10, although I’m still waiting on my cravings to come to know between sweet and savory!😂 I’m trying not to choose sweet just because we want a girl first!😂

    @ashleigh2271 AHHH CONGRATULATIONS!!!!💕

@buffythevampireslayer I charted and the last day we DTD was -1 day before ovulation (at least 24 hours before ovulation). With DS, we DTD on ovulation day. I've no clue if the timing will make a difference. We shall see!

@darkrose88 with my last pregnancy, I knew for a fact we DTD the day after O and we had a girl (we thought we missed the window but I guess not lol). So I guess it can be anything! :) This time I have no clue since we DTD a few different times during my fertile window. (TMI??? nahhh)

@lmaplejc how did you get the tech to admit that? Mine is SO strict about not saying anything until the official gender scan just to be safe. I want a tech that'll try and get a peek early! lol I have zero chill.

@katiecattherese congrats!! I have two girls so have zero boy advice except to say raise them to be emotionally intelligent and compassionate lovers of nature. <3 I love seeing little boys collect flowers and chase butterflies.

@ashleigh2271 CONGRATS!! Are you so excited?? Is this your first? (sorry if you already answered that elsewhere.)
  • @starkette that's a good point. honestly, I think its a shame the theory on timing sex has been debunked... it would be so much easier from a planning perspective if we could reliably time sex to choose the gender of our babies.

@lmaplejc I could very clearly tell my second was a boy at the nt scan (12ish weeks)! We had done sneak peek and I asked her to look down below to see if it was clearly visible yet. It was. Lol.

    ETA:
all this talk about dtd before ovulation is based on shettles method for ttc a girl. It’s all garbage. He did an experiment in the 60’s with bull seman that no one has ever been able to replicate.
  • @paytonpedro the tech definitely got a clear shot between the legs today but it went by so fast I didn't see any "thing" definitive and she didn't say anything about it. BOO.
  • @starkette awh! Boo! I’m sorry!! I saw you don’t have long to wait for that though! Less than a month and you’ll know!!! Is it a special scan just for the gender (because that would be awesome!!) or is it the anatomy scan you’re referring to?
  • @paytonpedro it's a special scan just for gender! Our office does it but it costs a bit extra to do it at 16 weeks.
  • @katiecattherese I understand feeling a bit of gender disappointment. For my first we had a boy and I was hoping for a girl. I'm here to tell you that being a boy mom is a blast! I can't imagine it being any other way. I know you'll feel the same way once your little guy is here 💙
  • @katiecattherese I had a very emotional reaction when I found out DS was a boy. I was so upset and disappointed. I had really been hoping for a girl. Now I can't imagine have my strong, spunky little boy be anyone else. I still want a daughter, but if this baby ends up being a boy, I will be excited for my son to have a brother.
  • @darkrose88 we think so much alike! I'm hoping for my girl, but if I have another boy I'll be equally happy because DS1 will have a buddy for life.
  • @malloryfrommn it is amazing how much ones perspective changes after you have kids. DS is SO in love with this baby already. He comes up and hugs/kisses my tummy and talks to baby every day. I'm just so excited to give my son a sibling.
  • @mdfarmchick That is so precious!
