December Symptoms

Re: December Symptoms

  • Ok my new thing is now I wake up every night around midnight or 1am to go pee. Its like clockwork. I expect that this will only get worse...😆
  • Loading the player...
  • I was wondering the same thing. I’ve had that happen several times now. When o cough and sneeze, it feels like a sharp pulled muscle across my lower pelvis, uterus area. I read somewhere round ligament pain isn’t usually for a couple weeks down the road, so I wasn’t sure if that’s what I was experiencing. I’m only 10 +4 weeks…
  • @melanier26 OMG I laughed out loud. 🤣 I needed that, thank you!
  • @zinnia19 Me, too! 😆
All these articles say to limit water intake before bed to limit night time trips, but I have a pile of vitamins I take at bed, so water is inevitable. I suppose it's practice for a future of sleep interruptions. 😴
  • @melanier26 amazing! 🤣🤣

@velvetblue88 I take my vitamins at night too but only recently started waking up. My last pregnancy, it felt like I was getting up in the middle of the night as soon as I had a positive test!
  • @sunshineandlemons That's funny! The day before I took my test, I just knew I was going to get my period because I was crampy, and my boobs hurt (normal for me). Then I got up in the middle of the night (not normal) and told myself I'd just take a test in the morning, even though I didn't expect it to say anything. And here we are.

    TW: loss
I had a MMC around 9wks last time (2yrs ago), so I remembered so many trips to the bathroom!
  • @zinnia19 I'm up like 2 or 3 times a night to go pee, so consider yourself lucky. 😩
  • @joellelamb congrats! Thanks for the update! My pregnancy symptoms are mild, and now have mild cold symptoms from covid so easily worried over here. I have an ultrasound 12/21 So still a long wait for reassurance!
  • I have been having crazy dreams- like all over the place lately, which is strange for me. I very rarely remember my dreams when I’m not pregnant. With my first two kids, I had some dreams but not like a week of them! Pregnancy is wild!
  • @velvetblue88 I ended up in tears over wanting a specific salad when I was pregnant with my first 😂
@sunshineandlemons I’ve been having very vivid and random dreams too. Almost every night for a couple of nights now! Last night I woke up a lot but my celebrity crush was in 3 dreams in a row 👀 Nothing dirty haha

So I’m not sure if this is exactly a pregnancy symptom, but not sure where else it would fit. *TW - anxiety* I had a mini anxiety attack in church today. A friend brought their 10 month old 3rd kiddo to church and I was just loving (from afar) that age, how snuggly and cute she was, etc. but then realized that when DD2 was that age, I can’t remember having those feelings - instead I remember I just felt tired and overwhelmed the whole time. Now, I know that isn’t 100% true - I certainly have good memories with both kids at that age, just also a prevailing memory of exhaustion. And I’m already dreading that constant exhaustion and overwhelmed feeling for this baby.

Before TTC this time, I talked with the midwife about feeling like I was just army crawling through the trenches during both kids’ first year of life and she suggested putting me on some medication before I leave the hospital with any subsequent kids. Now I’m seriously considering discussing maybe trying something while pregnant too.

Anyone else ever felt this way or dealt with this?

    ETA trigger warning
  • @twentythree19 I'm on an antidepressant now (and have been for just over a year) and it was honestly the best thing I could have ever done for myself. I'm only a FTM so I can't speak to the feelings of raising a child, but daily life improved now that I'm more levelheaded and much much less prone to having meltdowns from being overwhelmed. For me, when I had been on medication for a month it was like a switch had totally flipped and I truly felt more at ease and wasn't so anxious. I would highly recommend going on medication during pregnancy than to wait until after baby arrives to give the medication time to take effect.

  • I am so nauseous. All the time. And dizzy at times. What are you all feeding the rest of your family? We’ve been doing so much takeout but it gets expensive and I feel guilty bc it’s not the healthiest.
  • @melanier26 i do crockpot meals if i can, otherwise we are eating a lot of frozen food and pasta - refrigderated spinach tortellini with a side of green beans from frozen and crescent rolls or frozen garlic bread, sometimes chicken tenders and sweet potato fries from frozen with a side of fruit, chicken kiev with boxed couscous on the side with from-frozen corn, french toast with some protein and fruit.  hubby has been doing as much cooking as he can and his limits are heating up food

Well I started to have a couple nights of feeling only kinda terrible rather than super terrible and the super terrible is back tonight.
Anyone already struggling with acid reflux at night? I'm having a hard time because I pretty much have to snack throughout the evening to try to reduce the nausea but then i'm eating close to bed and have lots of reflux symptoms when i lay down -it's been taking me an hour to fall asleep, even with taking unisom, mostly because of waiting for the reflux to calm down.  i'm going to try some chewable cal/mag tonight - any other ideas?
  • New symptom… beef aversion. Yay.
  • @twentythree19.  My understanding is providers actually like you to start something during pregnancy so that it can take effect and protect your mental health and well-being throughout the postpartum period. There are lots of antidepressants and other medication for anxiety that are safe during pregnancy. I would talk to your OB-- many women just react to the hormones of pregnancy and postpartum with really severe anxiety and depression. It's totally normal and really treatable, but it sometimes takes some work to find the right regimen (which is better to be doing now than in the newborn phase).

  • @twentythree19 I have anxiety without being pregnant. For both kids, pregnancy and post partum were really rough in different ways. Finally when my youngest was about a year old, I decided I couldn’t do it on my own anymore. My kiddos deserved a better mama and I needed more help in getting my brain balanced out. I went on medication, and it has been everything. I didn’t even appreciate just how anxious I was until I wasn’t anymore.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to take it for the last month because of the morning sickness and holy nuggets. I was not ok for a minute there. I was able to start again this weekend, and it’s slowly getting so much better.

If you think you need something, I would suggest starting earlier so you can find what works. Not every medication works for everyone, and sometimes you have to tweak the doses. And it can take some time to start working and really get you stabilized

  • Anyone else feeling extreme fatigue around here? It's always hard at this time of year at work - we are all overdue for a break by now - but this year is just extra rough. I cannot wait to get through this week. Hoping my mom will watch my son most of next week so I can get a real break (and get all of the billions of errands needed to be done before Xmas actually done!)
  • @courtneyqdk yes, serious fatigue! Had to lay on the couch and watch Netflix for awhile last night. Just couldn't do anything else. And I am so over the nausea. Hard to not think about it all day at work.
  • Is between 9 and 10 weeks about when symptoms start easing and you get your energy back? I'm feeling less crappy in the morning now and I seem to be less fatigued over the last couple days so I'm guessing the placenta is starting to take things over?

  • @inthewoods23 yep! The placenta starts working at 8 weeks, and takes until week 12 to fully take over. I always notice a decrease in my nausea and general awfulness around week 9.

  • @tuxielove93 I hope this is true for me! I am supposed to be 9 weeks tomorrow - dating ultrasound this week and I suspect I ovulated late so I am thinking it might be later this week - but I cannot wait for this to pass! This week is dragging...and it's only Monday hahaha
  • I’m 9-3 today and the nausea has been rough.  It’s so hard to try and eat, force something down, only to then get hungry an hour later,  and to hate the idea of all foods. Ugh!!!   Really hoping things get better by Christmas     Sounds like there’s hope for symptoms subsiding a bit in week 10 …
  • @twentythree19  I went on Zoloft last year because my anxiety from October-December 2020 just became almost-paralyzing. I spoke with my OB before trying for this baby and he asked if I thought I could wean off and be okay. I know that answer is no, and he was super supportive of staying on it. It has helped me tons; I feel like I have a solid baseline and while I can still get overwhelmed, it takes a lot more to get me there. I'd definitely talk to your doctor about it.

  • Thanks ladies! Your experiences have been very reassuring. I feel like I read somewhere that you have to go off the meds the month before birth so that baby isn’t born with any dependency. Is that true? Just depend on the medication?

This is new territory for me. I’ve always been a little high strung but DH & I have always joked that I’ve been my most level headed while pregnant (because it was so true for the last two babies!).
  • Nausea, exhaustion, super sensitive sense of smell, that weird taste in my mouth, crabbiness, strange dreams. Basically everything lol. Just trying to ignore it all and power through. I’m so excited to be pregnant and I know all of this will pass.
  • @inthewoods23 @tuxielove93 I’m in the same boat! I’m at 11+1 today and my nausea and fatigue are basically gone, was starting to panic this am but good to know it’s normal 😅
  • @elsalee26 totally normal!! The majority of women will have the nausea and general bull of the first trimester disappear by 12 weeks. Just poof. Gone.
It’s magic 🤣 I’m ten days and counting until 12 weeks and I’m very excited lol

  • I woke up yesterday and my belly button and the area around it was soooooo tender to the touch. I literally had to cup it each time I moved around as it just felt like it was tearing. Happening again today not as intense as last night but it’s not comfortable at all. Nurse said it was normal but I feel like I’m falling apart.
  • @msspoon12 put a bandaid on your belly button. I’ve heard it helps

  • @twentythree19 - You are not alone in dreading the impending exhaustion and sense of being overwhelmed. I felt like I was underwater the first 3 months with DD - looking back I definitely had some level of PPD, but I didn't realize it at the time. I must have said 300x in those first few months that I was NEVER having another baby - and here I am with a 12 month old and expecting again (very much wanted and planned). I will be asking my OB for something to help with that if it happens again.
  • Anyone else with heart palpitations yet? just started getting them tonight while sitting around (i'm 10+1)  I had them in my last pregnancy during 2nd and 3rd trimester intermittently and OB cleared that anything more was happening so I'm confident that it's likely the same again, but they're super annoying and I'm not super excited to have them so early.
  • I am in my 29th week. I am tired, and this week began my feet and hands swelling like Shreks, my hands hurt too--that never has occurred before either. It feels like they lose circulation, but returns. Hard to describe properly.
My breasts still are achy, and the round ligament pain that was the earlier months now fits more under the "pelvic girdle pain" as it is felt just in the crouch, not up the left side of my belly as with the ligament pain.
Out with the old, in with the new!!

My symptoms have been mild! Just diagnosed with covid today, fully vaccinated and very cautious. Super anxious about the baby. Supposed to get monoclonal antibodies ! Is there anyone out there that doesn’t feel super sick or nauseated at 10 weeks? It’s a blessing but a curse bc it’s hard not to worry!
I hope you get well soon!! I hope the best for baby too!
  • @nicademus20 Hi and welcome! Are you twenty nine weeks pregnant? If that’s a typo and you’re due in July ignore me

If so, congrats! But I think you would find it more helpful to go to the February or March BMB, depending on which month you’re due in. These communities are set up by due date month. All of the women in this group are due in July, so the latest we have here is only 12 weeks now! Pregnancy changes so much, its easier to connect with women due really close to the same time.

I know my iron was almost low at my last blood test but I’m trying my best to eat well and some days I can take multiple hour naps any chance I get. I miss being human sometimes. I feel so drained most days.
