December Symptoms

Re: December Symptoms

  • @nicademus20 thank you !! I am doing MUCH better! I received the monoclonal antibodies treatment ( I qualified for pregnancy) and within 48 hours felt so much better !  I have my ultrasound next week I’ll be 12+2 then. I Feel like my pregnant normal self with some fatigue and heartburn so taking that as a good sign! :)
  • @elmann1 Has an iron supplement been mentioned? Prior to pregnancy I had my blood levels tested due to extreme lack of energy. My doctor said that my iron levels were “normal” but in her experience a lot of patients don’t feel better until their levels are well above what’s considered normal

  • @blf2072 Hey! I'm on day 6 of covid right now. I also qualified for the infusion but by the time they got around to calling me to schedule, I was already feeling better so didn't see fhe need. My question is- when did your smell and taste come back? It's driving me crazy! My husband got his back by day 8 but I've read that it can take months..
  • Hey there! I had Covid a couple weeks ago and my symptoms only lasted two to three days thanks to my vaccination and it was pretty mild. My taste and smell were back about seven days after my last symptoms were gone. I was craving a ton of citrus at the time and I think that maybe helped!
  • @stardustskies I hate to say it, but it varies. BIL had covid and it took months for him to get his senses back. Still don't think he's 100% and he had it in March. But MIL had it in October and got hers back within a month. Fx that you get yours back sooner rather than later.
  • @stardustskies hey! I’m sorry you
got sick, it can be a scary time but thank God I think the vaccine is helping us all have more mild symptoms. I am on day 10 ( last day of quarentine! 🎉 ) I will say my taste still is not 100% back to normal but has come a long way from being totally gone! My smell is lagging I think… I can smell certain things that are stronger like coffee and cinnamon but then at times, I feel like I can’t smell as good as I was. It’s definately coming back, just not as fast as I want! I think Being vaccinated has helped most cases. My SIL took months but that was before the vaccine. Im hoping you can get it back to enjoy the holiday food ! ❤️
  • @stardustskies I’ve read about people using different foods and I think essential oils? to help get their taste and smell back. I hope it comes back soon!
  • Had my first experience with round ligament pain today when I sneezed and felt a sharp pain in my side. Didn't happen again the rest of the day. I appreciate that so many of you have mentioned round ligament pain, so I knew that was the cause! Definitely a relief.
  • Ugh today is 8w5d for me and I'm struggling. Had a headache for a full 24 hours which eases up with Tylenol and then just comes right back. Nauseous stomach, and just general yucky feeling. My 3 year old does not seem to care and has been running around the house just screeching for 2 hours. Come Come on second trimester, I need a break.
  • Anyone else dealing with pregnancy induced anxiety? Because I am struggling right now.

I think I posted last Sunday about dealing with it but then have had an excellent week. We went away for a kid free weekend and got back about 2 hours ago. I’m happy to be back with my kids but the 15 month old has been super fussy and clingy since we got back. I know that is 100% normal and in my mind I’m ok with this, but the more she fusses (even when DH takes her and I walk away) the more I feel the anxiety rising in me.  Any tips or tricks on mitigating it until I can talk to my OB?
  • @twentythree19 I have found the best way to mitigate this is to just give in, at least temporarily. If the baby is fussy and clingy I just let go and let her cling. As you mentioned, in your mind you know it’s normal, but it’s understandable that it’s causing anxiety. If you can I would say just try not to fight it good luck!
  • I’m in Wk 9 Day 4. Headache started last night, lingered and worsened throughout the day, still have it. Breasts soreness worsened too. Nausea hasn’t been as bad as last week though. Past week, I’ve been waking up in the middle night (usually ~5 hours into my sleep) to pee. Constipation is a constant battle. Same goes for bloated and gassy feeling, especially in the evenings.

This in my 2nd pregnancy. First pregnancy was a *TW* loss at Wk 9 Day 6, so I’m paying extra attention this week and really hoping this will be a healthy pregnancy. *TW end* Can’t wait for 1st prenatal appointment with US in Wk 11. Quick question - do you usually get the sonograph / photo during the Wk 11 US? Or is it usually during Wk 20?

Food aversions- getting better, but for a while I had aversion to the thought of meat, but was ok when I actually ate it. Also heightened sense of smell (husband calls it my superpower) sometimes the nasal congestion symptoms help a bit because I kind of don’t want to smell anything and everything. 🙂 Food craving - been craving Bagel & cream cheese 🥯 for a couple days now. Will probably go buy some tomorrow. Water consumption - I know it’s recommended for pregnant women to drink 64 oz a day, I haven’t been able to drink that much these past few weeks. Almost like I have an aversion to water. Ive been drinking closer to 32-40 oz. I used to love drinking warm/hot water, now I prefer cold water. How have you ladies been doing with water consumption?
  • @sacha0088 They should give you pictured to take home for this ultrasound as well as the 20 week. I'm feeling you with literally all those symptoms as well. I wake up at like 2am to pee and then have trouble falling back asleep. As for the water, prior to pregnancy I would drink it so much without an issue. For some reason now I'm having trouble getting it down. I bought a lemon at the store and sliced it up and add a squeeze of juice to every glass of water and that's really helping me.
  • Thanks @stardustskies! Can’t wait for the pictures! I’ll have to try adding lemon slices to my water - thanks for the tip!
  • I’m not the greatest at drinking water either. I like to use True Lemon or True Lime (it’s crystallized lemon or lime that isn’t sweetened) so I don’t have to deal with seeds lol. I’ve also been drinking a ton of decaf coffee. I love the flavor of coffee so decaf is perfect.

@sacha0088 mmm bagel and cream cheese… *adds to my grocery order* Yum!
  • @sacha0088 I saw a bagel with cream cheese on a commercial last night and want one SO BAD. I went dairy-free for my son 2 years ago bc he has an intolerance and was nursing. He’s still nursing and we’re introducing dairy but I’m afraid it may upset my stomach bc I’ve been off it so long and the last thing I need is a reaction on top of the pregnancy nausea. So for now, my cream cheese craving will have to wait.
i was really good at drinking water from weeks 4-6ish…was always thirsty. Now I’m not drinking much at all.
  • @melanier26 There’s a plethora of dairy free cream cheese options if you really want it. Kite Hill is my personal fav

a lot of women get an aversion to water in first tri. I always do too. I basically only drink water normally, so it’s extra super annoying. But if anyone is really struggling to drink anything, you can try:
    Watery fruit (watermelon,cucumbers)
    Popsicles
    Sucking on Ice

  • Hi Ladies, I am 12+1, having some low /mid back aches at times. My second US is tomorrow. Is this a normal symptom for around 12 weeks? First timer here 🙂
  • @sunshineandlemons - haha nice! adding to your cravings list 😆 It’s freezing and snowing in my area, so decaf coffee sounds great right now.

@melanier26 - I’m actually lactose intolerant, but love cheese! I take lactaid pills right before eating dairy and helps with any upset stomach.

@stardustskies, @sunshineandlemons, @melanier26, @tuxielove93 - Glad to hear I’m not the only one with some aversion to water and thanks for sharing tips!

  • @blf2072 Yup, normal and sorry to say, will probably get worse as the pregnancy progresses. 😔
  • @blf2072, yeah, that sounds pretty normal.  Like @stardustskies said, it'll likely get worse.

One of the best purchases I made when I was pregnant with DS was getting a cheap exercise ball.  It was great while pregnant for stretching out my sore back and relieving some of the pressure, especially later on when you get too big to really effectively stretch any other way.   After he was born, it turned out to be a great tool for bouncing him to sleep.  Definitely recommend if you don't have one!
  • As long as the baby is good, I can handle whatever pregnancy symptoms may bring !! Thanks for the response and suggestions!  @zwink1 and @stardustskies ☺️
  • My heart rate has been so elevated. This seems to happen to me every pregnancy though this feels a bit earlier this time. I’m getting winded often and in the evenings my resting heart rate is high and it’s making me feel panicky and lightheaded. Anyone else dealing with this?
  • I’m 11 wks 6days and have been experiencing a lot of twinges and spasms in my pelvic region. After talking with my doctor she wasn’t sure what to tell me, saying it seemed to early for me to be experiencing round ligament pains this early. Anyone else experiencing similar symptoms.
  • @etcorgi22 Yes me too. I figure it's just my uterus expanding.
  • @etcorgi22 I’m a third time mom, but I 100% have round ligament pain. And have been having it since …. 10? I wanna say 10 weeks but definitely 11. I’m 12 weeks today

  • @etcorgi22 third time mom here too and I’m definitely having round ligament pain. It happens sometimes if I sneeze really hard or if I twist funny turning over in bed.
  • @julzy I had a cardiologist appointment last week (that I had scheduled months ago) and she said due to our increased blood flow, our hearts will pump like crazy. I stopped wearing my Fitbit because my heart rate was giving me anxiety. But she did an ekg and said I was totally fine. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, get an ekg for urgent care. They definitely put pregnant women on the top of the list for heart things, but if you’re already generally healthy, high heart rate and out of breath at times is “normal.” According to my doc, after she reviewed all of my labs.
  • @julzy yep. Not the lightheaded piece but my heart rate gets up much easier now and I’ve had occasional heart palpitations at night. The first night they weee the most annoying and intense last week but now they happen intermittently. My doc was not concerned at this time in my case. I had them with my first starting later in pregnancy but we are just keeping an eye on things for now.
I also get out of breath in general more easily, mostly I notice when I’m talking a bunch at once (like to explain something at work) especially if I’m wearing a mask. Definitely talk to your OB because sometimes they’ll refer you to a specialist depending on your specific symptoms and history
  • If I could just stop puking every night that would be great y’all. I’m 11+ 3 and it’s been like this for almost 2 weeks. I think recently part of the problem is drinking “too much” liquid at night - one it’s not a ton , and two I’m so thirsty. I’m having a really hard time getting in enough fluids during the day - not in an excess thirst way but in an I can only drink little sips at a time and am not taking in enough.
I think I’m part of the problem in irritating my stomach at night but it’s finally when I’m just sitting and being and can continuously sip and then my belly is sloshy 🤪
not really looking for advice but just sharing in case anyone else can relate
  • Everything cooked smells of roasted red peppers and Not in a good way. I don’t have any cravings, just aversions
  • @runnergirl2018 When I was struggling to drink but getting really dehydrated, I started setting a timer. For like 40 minutes, I’d drink every seven minutes. Just little sips. The wait awhile to do it again so I didn’t get bloated and sloshy. Maybe do that a couple times a day instead of just at night?

  • Try taking Pepcid! Sounds crazy, but I had so much nausea and when I would drink water, it would come right back up- which sucked because I was so thirsty! My Dr. recommended Pepcid tablets 2x/day because the extra hormones we have are causing our stomachs to produce much more stomach acid than usual. Even though I didn’t feel like I had heartburn or reflux, taking Pepcid has helped so much. I’m 11+4 today.
  • 11+2 and all my symptoms have completely disappeared. The magic of almost being out of first tri, or something else?  :s thanks anxiety!
  • @quelinda99 I'm at 10+5 and I haven't had morning sickness in 2 days, so I feel your anxiety. I scoured the internet (and this board) to find answers that aren't ominous, and there's something having to do with the placenta being in place... Maybe? My anxiety is skeptical. ☺️
  • @quelinda99 @velvetblue88 I used to consistently have an upset stomach feeling when I'd wake up every morning. I wouldn't even necessarily call it nausea because it just hurt or felt like I ate too much or something. For me I think I wasn't far past 9 weeks when I finally felt that wasn't really happening anymore so I figured my body was starting the transition of the placenta taking over. My understanding is that's why women tend to start feeling a lot better in late 1st tri/start of 2nd tri. I think our bodies stop producing progesterone to support the pregnancy and the HCG levels start to level off (or even decrease?). Not 100% sure on that.

Pretty sure it is totally normal for symptoms to start subsiding around now.

  • @quelinda99 @velvetblue88 It’s normal. At week 8, the placenta starts to take over. By week 9, a lot of women notice a reduction in the worst of the first tri symptoms (although some find 9-10 to be the worst). And by 12 weeks, almost all of the awfulness of first tri will be gone (for the majority of women). The placenta fully takes over at 12 weeks.

@inthewoods23 HCG levels hit their peak between weeks 8-11, and steadily decrease from there. Progesterone will continue to be produced throughout the pregnancy to keep the uterine lining healthy. It increases in the third trimester to work with relaxin to loosen your joints so you can give birth. And then crashes HARD along with estrogen after you give birth

But the moral of the story is that if you don’t have any miscarriage symptoms (basically bleeding/extreme cramping) and have seen a healthy heart beat on an ultrasound, your symptoms disappearing is not a sign of anything being wrong. It’s completely normal! And good for you to boot. Second trimester is when most women feel the best during pregnancy.

  • @tuxielove93 I was somewhat right lol. I had the right idea. I never had major symptoms with the increase in progesterone during the TWW period so I'm curious how hormones will make me feel in the future.

But yep, that's what I keep telling myself. Even if I'm not feeling anything really in terms of symptoms, if I'm not bleeding then everything is a-okay.

  • These headaches man.  I did not have this particular treasure of a symptom with DS.  I'm hoping they clear up on their own as I get closer to 2nd tri, but in the meantime, does anyone have any non-med based suggestions for knocking these down a peg or two?  I have had what feels like a virtually constant low grade headache for a few weeks, so I'm trying to only take Tylenol when it gets really bad, but it's also gone on long enough at this point that even the "background noise" level of pain is getting tough to deal with.
  • @zwink1 they’re awful! My doctor said they would increase in second tri (which I experienced with my two kids). Could you drink something with caffeine? Sometimes that helps mine. I feel like with DD2, I had a full headache for a month straight. I’m really hoping that’s not the case this pregnancy (and for you too).

Has anyone noticed their boobs aren’t as sore or sore at all once they reach 11 weeks? I know based on the discussion above, the placenta should be taking over but I can’t remember the timing from prior pregnancies. Just hoping it’s not something to worry about.
