  • @minnie_yoga_mama We'll circumcise because DH is Jewish, and I'm half Jewish. But we'll do it in a hospital, not at a bris.
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: Apr 5, 11+6

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments: Nothing for two weeks; would've had my midwife appointment next week but I'm away, so we decided to push it

How are you feeling?: Nausea is still sticking around. Fatigue is awful, and insomnia is starting to kick in. So in other words, I'm beyond cranky

Rants/Raves: My daughter woke me at 4:30 to nurse, and I couldn't get back to sleep. My husband had been up since 2:30 with insomnia and was just back from a run, so I could hear him moving around and it made it even more impossible. So I got up and made bread. Both kids ended up waking up before 6, when they usually sleep until after 7. It's going to be a rough day for everyone.

@aukeev Eww... even just the thought of milk makes my stomach revolt haha! Aversions and cravings are such a bizarre thing!

@kiwi2628 I feel you about being tired and having two toddlers - I keep telling myself it'll get better, but I know I'm lying!

@doxiemoxie212 Awww, sorry you won't be able to get the scan :(

@minnie_yoga_mama We circumcised our son, and will if this one is a boy. I probably wouldn't have if it was just me, but my husband is Jewish, and although he doesn't really practice, it was important to him. Like doxie though, we don't do it as a bris (here you go to a specialist)

@queenklau Have you joined Car Seats for the Littles on Facebook? They have CPST that can help you figure out if your seats will fit, and give recommendations on what might work in your vehicle. Personally, we're comfortable with our car (F150) since it's got a HUGE back seat and won't have trouble fitting a third seat - but it's also part of the reason we are almost completely sure we won't go for a fourth!

  • I’m waiting for Thursday - my first appointment finally - to do an actual check in. Finally.

@minnie_yoga_mama I have three boys so far and circumcised none, my DH felt strongly about it. My social circle seems to be a mix of some who do and some who don’t, I’m not sure of the exact ratio.
  • @doula-mama do you guys celebrate any of the holidays? DH grew up very Jewish (I mean, like everyone is Jewish in NYC lol so it's a lot easier), but he doesn't really practice anymore, but we still do Hanukkah and kiiiind of try to do Passover (but him being vegan and allergic to tree nuts limits this considerably lol). My other bmb has zero Jews, and a lot of the moms have never even met someone Jewish IRL which blows my mind.

@queenklau I second the CSTFL recommendation and will add The Car Seat Lady. We followed her guide and got an Outback when we purchased our car in 2018. She has lists of all the cars you can actually realistically do 3 across in, and the options are pretty limited, but I do think the CRV might have been one, so it might be possible depending on the seats you have. We opted out of the CRV because DH and I couldn't fit in the front seats with RFing car seats behind us. Still tight in the Outback but a little better. We have been tossing around getting a Honda Odyssey, but it's so hard to get used cars right now, and a new one would still be hard to get but also would be $$$$$. We only have one car currently, though, and at some point DH is going to have to start going into the office 3x/week unless covid just never ever ends.

  • @doxiemoxie212 If we have the opportunity to be near family, we definitely take part in the holidays... but we live on the west coast and his family is mostly back in Ontario, so it's only when we can travel or join virtually. We did do the menorah for Hanukkah last year, since it was the first year that our son was old enough to get excited, and we'll definitely do that regularly. For holidays in general, we've taken a low key approach until the kids were old enough to start to understand, so this will be the first year that we're going to try and properly do any of them (Halloween, Hanukkah, Christmas, etc.)
  • @aukeev I'm craving strawberry milkshakes

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

    Upcoming Appointments: MW appointment Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Exhausted. I also sometimes forget that I'm pregnant because I don't really have any nausea which still concerns me.

Rants/Raves: it's been such a hard week. DD1 was in the hospital twice and the second time, the doctor wanted me to make an appointment with her pediatrician if x happened. It did happen so I called but she can't get me in until the end of November so I have to take her to the Children's hospital tomorrow morning. She's been perfectly healthy until she started daycare on Sept 1st. I just want a definitive answer on what's going on with her.

    Questions: none

  • @doula-mama last Hanukkah (so DD was 2 still) I forget what happened, but DH decided to light the menorah with her without me, and my mom filmed a video, and then she sent it to me, and I was like EXCUSE ME??? Because he LET THE 2 YEAR OLD LIGHT THE MENORAH!!!! hahahahahaha like what the eff??? Like he lit the main candle and HANDED IT TO HER, didn't hold her arm or anything, and he didn't even have her long ass hair tied back. He's so lucky she's like the most careful kid on planet earth. I can laugh about it now, but I was so mad at the time. So... yeah... we also are low key.....  :p

  • @doxiemoxie212 Maybe we should change to due date check-ins in October? Then we’ll be different enough development-wise?

@minnie_yoga_mama We will get baby circumcised if it’s a boy, because that’s just what our family does, but there is no (proven) medical reason to do it. I’d just encourage you to do your research and see what you and DH feel comfortable with!

Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 28, 8+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Upcoming Appointments: Another OB appointment (new patient intake) next Wednesday. I need to stop procrastinating and call the specialist back to schedule with her.

How are you feeling?: Today and yesterday have been good days. I was so nauseous last week and miserable. Saturday, I worked a full shift plus 3 extra hours after to help out and I felt like warm garbage. But I also got my flu shot Friday so I’m wondering if it was side effects from that.

Rants/Raves: I’ve discovered that iced coffee > hot coffee, something I’ve never liked before in my life (I will drink hot coffee in 100 degree weather). I was dying without caffeine so it’s been a good day so far!

Questions: Our infant car seat has been in our non-air controlled attic for 5 years and while it doesn’t expire for a few more years I’m wondering if I should trade it in since Target is doing their car seat program this week. Anyone know if long exposures to heat damages the car seat? I may just go ahead and do it anyways so it’s one less thing to pack when we move in November.

  • @doxiemoxie212 Oh my goodness - I don't blame you for being upset! Mind you, my kid would've burnt the house down if we let him do that haha!
  • @miss_lynn9 that is a hard week!! I hope the visit tomorrow will give you some answers!
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 4th/ 12 weeks

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Upcoming Appointments: Had my NT today and everything was normal. I also had my blood taken for NIPT and should have those results in a week (hopefully earlier). I have my next appointment with my actual doctor on Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Still nauseous at times, headache, tired

Rants/Raves: Rant: The doctor at the hospital I went for my ultrasound today made me cry. I was talking about how our babies tend to get very big toward the end of pregnancy and how I'm always asked to repeat my GTT for that reason but I always pass... and she said well it's not surprising, you both are not exactly "tiny people". Now- would I consider myself "tiny," no. But the way she said it made me feel like I was a beast of a woman. I felt super self-conscious after that and left the office in tears. I was always a thin person but now, this being my third pregnancy, I dont have the body I used to have and I guess I'm more sensitive about it than I thought? It could be hormones too but I just dont think anyone should ever comment on someone's size. My husband is trying to convince me it's because "I'm tall" but I'm hardly 5'7- that's not crazy tall and even so, no woman wants to be thought of as being "big".

  • @aloha_mama I have been on the iced coffee train too ever since my aversion to hot coffee started a month ago. It’s so awesome to have caffeine! Also, I’m not really a side drinker, but a half a Diet Coke seems to really help my afternoon sickness and sluggishness.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

    Upcoming Appointments: Bloodwork tomorrow

How are you feeling?: Dare I say I might be feeling a tiny bit better? Saturday ( 9+6) was the worst day of this entire pregnancy and I was on the verge of tears thinking how I was going to manage feeling horrible for much longer and then bang on 10 weeks exactly I started to see a glimmer of hope.

Rants/Raves: Yesterday I was able to eat something after 5pm for this first time in weeks- sure, it was Carmel popcorn, but details details

Questions: I am a woozy medical person and I have to get pregnancy and NIPT bloodwork done tomorrow. Is it like viles and viles of blood or what are we looking at here?
    aloha_mamahoosiermamajaydenloveanddatadrivenrobbenson
  • @Ivorytower2, I did the Sema4 and it was 2 small vials.

  • @minnie_yoga_mama I circumcised my oldest son because I thought it’s just what you do. With my second son (7 years later) I didn’t see the purpose and didn’t want to pay for it out of pocket so he isn’t circumcised.

@winterviolethope I am so sorry! Completely inappropriate and uncalled for.

    Upcoming Appointments: Hopefully early October

How are you feeling?: I think the nausea is starting to reduce, but the fatigue is still there. I’m just wiped out by evening, especially if I was active at all during the day.

Rants/Raves: new employee orientation is the worsttt

    Questions: natm

@doxiemoxie212 It’s seems like a good time to change since we are approaching the end of the first trimester

@minnie_yoga_mama DS3 is circumcised. That’s what felt “normal” to me from my experiences, but I left the decision up to DH since he’s the one with the penis experience.

@miss_lynn9 Sorry to hear your daughter has been in the hospital!
    aloha_mamaminnie_yoga_mama
  • @miss_lynn9 sorry to hear about your daughter. It can be so frustrating to not get answers but also little urgency from drs. I hope you get answers soon and that everything is ok!

@minnie_yoga_mama our DS5 is not circumcised. We don’t have any religious reason to do so nor did we see any medical reason to do so. I ultimately left the decision up to DH and he decided not to. He isn’t circumcised either so that felt right to him.
    minnie_yoga_mama
  • Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: 28th, 8 weeks and change?

    FTM/STM/TTM+: 5th time

Upcoming Appointments: soon.  Waiting for a call back

How are you feeling?: Nausea is intense.  Tired.  My kids got a (not covid) virus from a soccer mate and were kind enough to share which the congestion makes the nausea worse so yay!!!

Rants/Raves:  Rant: I fell doing laundry at my mom's house (foot was asleep and I stepped wrong) but now my foot is super sore.  Apparently this is going to be a clumsy pregnancy.

    Questions:

@minnie_yoga_mama Neither DS3 or DS2 are circumcised.  I hang in relatively "crunchy" circles and a lot of our friends' kids aren't either.  DH was a little worried about the boys looking different from him at first, but they don't really even notice.

@queenklau we had to upgrade to the grand caravan for number 4 (before that we were squeezed into a teeny tiny Ford focus).  I have to experiment with our seats to see what makes sense as far as arrangements this time.  Oldest will be out of a booster by then so we can squidge her in wherever but it'll be 2 seats and two boosters which is tricky.

  • @doxiemoxie212 happy to switch over whenever, though not volunteering to start all those threads lol. I do feel like this is still a pretty small group so I'm not sure if it's worth it..? But I'm good with whatever the group wants.

@minnie_yoga_mama I actually randomly mentioned this to MH the other day... we're team green so have to make sure to prep for everything! MH was surprisingly very much for circumcision. We're not Jewish so I'm actually not sure why he was so adamant. I might ask him at some point but honestly it doesn't matter that much to me, so it's one of the decisions I would probably defer to him.

@miss_lynn9 sending hugs and hoping you get some answers/your DD is feeling better <3

@winterviolethope how rude. I don't blame you for being upset at all - that probably would have driven me to tears too.

    Est Due Date / Weeks + Days: April 12 / 11+0

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Upcoming Appointments: next scan is early Oct

How are you feeling?: Feeling pretty good! Fatigue is my number 1 symptom right now. Last night my stomach was weird but I think I am not eating enough (or enough of the right things!).

Rants/Raves: We have 3 weddings in a row starting last weekend and ending in early Oct. It's a whirlwind! MH is in the wedding this week and it's our very close friends so I'm excited. Also happy that the bride & groom have required vaccination or negative test to attend. Still not sure how I'm feeling about the last wedding since there aren't any requirements and it's indoors. I keep going back and forth about whether I'll actually go. Obviously we will still give the same $ whether or not I go but I do feel bad about cancelling at the last minute. I also wonder if I'm just being overconcerned or if it even matters bc MH will be going either way.

Questions: Thoughts about big indoor events? I wasn't feeling anxious until the last couple of weeks as cases started going up.

    minnie_yoga_mama
  • @fameonmain2,

Risk tolerance for COVID is such a personal thing. I would look at your local transmission, how big is the wedding, vaccination %, will it have outdoor sections, how close are you to the couple etc etc. Personally, I avoid any medium-large gatherings indoors (just my preference). I am in NY with our county with 71% of 12 and up vaccinated, we still have 6% test positivity which is a bit high for my comfort. That being said, I have only eating indoors with DH twice in June, my daughter goes to preK in person and also does gymnastics with mask on (with mask mandate in school). I still work remotely. Just to give you a point of reference in my situation.

  • @queenklau I know, it is such a personal thing. Unfortunately I can't look at most of those statistics for this one b/c the wedding is out of state and I anticipate there will be people from all over there. I feel like I'm going to go back and forth on it until probably a couple of days before. MH is going no matter what.
  • @fameonmain2, oh yeah, if people are coming from all over then that’s another variable.

Whatever you decide just be as safe as possible with it and feel good about your decision.

@aloha_mama I'd do the trade in. a hot attic can potentially warp the plastic. We live in a hot climate and have our old car seat at the top of DS closet bc I was afraid of the attic.

@minnie_yoga_mama DS is circumcised. DH and I discussed it and made the decision together, but honestly he's the expert in that area so it was more up to him. I found it odd though that people will ask about this (not here, but in life). someone we met friends of friends asked us about it and then was like oh well thats okay. gee thanks random person.

@miss_lynn9 hope you're getting some answers today. what a hard week.

@doxiemoxie212 I think we should change to the due date week check ins sooner rather than later.

@fameonmain2 big indoor gatherings make me a bit anxious, well even more so now that I'm pregnant. I am vaccinated, but still. I think it comes down to what you feel most comfortable with. I'm kind of glad most of our friends/family are married and/or not planning to for a long time. I don't envy those that have to make these kinds of decisions.
