I bent down on Friday at work in our staff lunch room and smoked my head on our fridge door that I had open. It freaking hurt like a SOB. I found this on my head last night. No wonder why it hurt so much 😖

My dog is getting fixed on Wednesday. It's so overdue. It was scheduled but then covid. Then his vet left the practice and I didn't love the person they had moved the surgery to. So I cancelled. Just got in at another practice and Wednesday is the day!
my MIL made us dinner this weekend (spaghetti and meatballs). The meatballs were really good but I knew they weren’t homemade. She got them on qvc (which is very typical of her lol she loves qvc). I looked them up and she spent $60 on 4 lbs.. They were good but not 15/lb good lol. I found them at my local grocery store yesterday for freaking $5.13/lb!! They are Mama Mancini's if anyone’s curious. I sent a picture to my MIL and she was like “oh they must be different then” trying to justify her qvc purchase lol 😂. It’s the exact same package!
@sgrn18 This sort of reminds me of my dad's recent short rib purchase. No idea where he got them, but was super excited and said, "it was only $100 for about 10 servings, that's cheaper than the grocery store!". Um...no, it's not. Full-price short ribs run closer to $7-8/lb, but I often find them on sale for much less. Hopefully by "serving" he meant "pound", which makes it more reasonable. I generally don't much care how other people want to spend their money, but my parents have some pretty bad financial issues that my dad is totally in denial over and always tries justify some random purchase he made by saying it's cheaper than the store when it's very much not. Just admit it's a splurge!
@akoros MIL will complain about the price of a prescription but turn around a blow so much money on QVC. That kind of financial irresponsibility drives me insane!
@sgrn18 Same! My mom is working so hard to rectify their finances, but he just can't help himself (and refuses to help her). As awful as the past year has been, the pandemic and my dad getting sick with shingles has been a budgeting godsend as he can't spend money on travel or restaurants and my mom has been able to pick up full-time virtual substitute counseling jobs. /rant
Buying meatballs from the QVC is the funniest thing I’ve heard all day! I can’t imagine being convinced that there are *any* meatballs worth that amount! What??

@mindyb2019 holy smokes! How's your head feeling today?? @sgrn18 I didn't even know qvc sold food??! I love that she's convinced they must be different from the ones at the store!
My random is that we still don't have a working oven (since Jan 1). We have called all the repair services in our area- small ones, ones recommended by our oven manufacturer, large ones, etc. We've had 3 that have responded to us, got the part number, told us they would order the part& send someone out, and then ghost us. We have one last resort and then I think we'll have to buy a new oven. So frustrating, it's only 8 years old and the broiler works- seems like it's just that ignitor that's broken. We want to redo the kitchen in the next 3-5 years so just buying a new oven for 3 years is annoying (it's a wall unit and we wouldn't do that in our reno). I want homemade brownies so stinking badly lol.
@_orchid_ this happened to us and we ended up just buying a new one for like $400. We plan to remodel sometime so it’s pretty basic. If you can find a good deal, it’s been worth it for us than spending who knows what to fix our old one
@_orchid_ my head is doing ok thanks. Still tender to touch it though or run my hands through my hair. Damn no oven since Jan 1st?? What do u guys use to cook with then? Lol I cant belive they ghosted you. Wtf?? Im sorry you have to get a new one and then have to do a reno.
@mc0303 right? I think they are figuring it's not worth the money. I've seen on local FB groups that people are waiting weeks for appliance deliveries so idk what is going on. @dogmom5 ugh sorry you went through the same thing! Bc of the wall space we are very very limited (it's a super narrow spot and we had a hard time finding a model that fit there last time). We just hate it so much bc it's so small and are bummed to buy another one
This is kind of random: I’m having a hard time connecting with this baby and I think it’s mostly because she doesn’t have a solid name. One name I loved and my husband was adamantly against. Another we both liked, but before it was solidified, my mom pried it out of our 9 year old and it just kind of has a shadow on it. We had another one that we liked, we weren’t crazy about it, but it for our family... now I’m interviewing (with a very good feeling) with a job in which my potential new supervisor has that same name. Maybe not a huge deal, but it put a bit of a mental block on the name for me. This is our 4th child (all girls) and this is the longest I’ve gone without a name. I am kind of irritated with my husband because he doesn’t seem to care until I say I really like a name and then he’ll say something mean about it, but not offer suggestions. He keeps saying, “what’s wrong with the other name?” And I tell him and he says I’m being difficult. I don’t think I’m being difficult, I have a list of like 20 names and he has 2 that he is luke warm on. Sorry that turned into more of a rant/vent than I meant.

@_orchid_ so we’ve replaced our igniter ourselves a few times. It’s actually not too bad. And waaay cheaper than buying a whole new oven. We found the new part on Amazon, lol. Might be worth looking into if you’re trying to stretch it to remodel time.
Currently baking cookies because last week was a doozy and this week is shaping up to be just as busy. I’m a stress baker and, really, who needs sleep when there’s cookies?
@disgruntled_pelican I’m sorry you’re struggling on the name front. We don’t have a name yet and anytime I throw one out there DH says something mean too. I hope you can find something perfect soon.
@_orchid_ Could you get by with a toaster oven? Until this most recent place (where we have a brand-new double oven I love) I'd use the toaster oven for anything that would fit in there since it was easier than heating up the big one: cakes, pies, baked meat/fish/vegetables, small casseroles, etc.
@disgruntled_pelican We don’t have a name yet either for girl #2. Names are so hard and we just can’t agree, I think we have 4-5 possibilities but non of them sound quite right. What is the name that would be shared with your potential supervisor? What are your other girls’ names?
@MelissaMay82 - we have Es.me, Pho.ebe, and He.idi at home (periods in there to thwart Google). The supervisor name is Bridget. The name my mom of messed up was Joslyn. I really loved Keira but my H really doesn’t like it.

Question: I bought some saline spray to irrigate my nose, but I don't think I know how to do it properly. It says to tilt your head, shove it up the top nostril, and spray until it comes out the bottom nostril. However...it never comes out of the bottom nostril, just back down the same one. What am I doing wrong?
@halfanewt hmm glad to hear it's not too bad... I think that's our current plan. DH was going to try it initially but is nervous bc the gas line. We have a retired electrician who does a ton around our house/my ILs and seems to know someone for everything so we might ask him if he knows anyone that would be able to help.
@akoros we thought about that but in normal pre-covid time we usually do a ton of cooking on Sunday and have stuff in the oven pretty much all day. Haha I have to hope we'll be back at that point before we remodel in a few years. We've been able to get by this long bc we're not marathon cooking every week for dinners, daycare lunches, my lunches to pack, etc. DH has a big green egg that he's obsessed with so that helps too.
@disgruntled_pelican we're having a hard time with boy names- too many males on both sides and we have some family members that are very... possessive... about names (I like a very common name that is my nephew's middle name but his parents would flip). DH isn't helping. I keep calling baby "it" instead of "he" and I feel like a name would help that.
Maybe we should revive the name thread!! I’m struggling too. We had a a name for DS1 by this point (I wasn’t sold on it at first but MH kept calling him his name and it just stuck). This time I’m down to a few but MH keeps vetoing names and making it almost a joke. He’ll go a week or so with no name conversations then in a day he’ll send me 50 names that I KNOW aren’t even contenders it’s like he’s just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks.
@srgn18 I'll second that idea! We're on the naming struggle bus here too! The only one we both like is a family name that has already been used by other family and turns out to be very similar to the name my cousin named her little boy she had earlier this week. MH doesn't like anything I suggest but then only suggests completely silly names that are usually the names of a character from some TV show he likes.
Dudes. I cannot wear pants right now!! I’m at the point where over the belly AND under the belly things don’t feel good 😭 I’m just walking around in sleep dresses going commando. Can’t wait for my belly to firm up a little and tolerate pants again
@mc0303, haha I was just having this same thought. I have PJs on but they're so uncomfortable. I should go shower and change. It's so irritating!
@disgruntled_pelican, I love all those names. I don't think you can go wrong using one of them!
@_orchid_, omg nearly 2 months without an oven?! I think the toaster oven might be a good idea unless you have super large things to cook. Can you do a cheaper one for now (maybe like an open box model or something)?
All night I kept waking up on my back and would have to turn to my side. I never even sleep on my back pre-baby so I don't know why I kept rolling to it. Also I am really glad my placenta is anterior because I can feel this kid moving so much and I'm hopeful it won't be as painful as my son.
@mc0303 same! My favorite lounge pants from my first pregnancy are suddenly miserable this time.
I have to work outside this morning for the beginning of our vaccine clinic and have nothing to wear. I hate to wear jeans to work, especially since I won’t be out there all day, and all my work maternity pants are ankle length. It’s supposed to be in the 30s this morning and then 70s this afternoon. Also, I know for the Canadian ladies here and those in much colder areas mid to upper 30s is probably glorious this time of year, but that is still cold where I am.
I hated the process of getting ready for anything while pregnant with DS1. I remember being 16/17 weeks with him and having to attend a wedding. It was a very informal wedding but I still couldn’t find any pants or skirts that fit right. I’m usually a lounge wear type of person and scrubs at work so I wear comfortable things all the time. Everything I wear now I have to wear under the belly because it’s annoying to have a band touching.
@mc0303 I'm still able to handle my yoga pants, but nothing else. Before I'd suck it up and put on jeans when I go outside the house, but don't want to do that anymore. I know I'll be sweaty and miserable, but I can't wait for dress weather.
@klj0228 Yesterday my boss was talking to me about various meetings and the thought struck me that he might ask me to come in for some (need a secure line so can't be done remotely). First I panicked because I haven't told him about the pregnancy yet, and then I realized I have no idea what I'd wear! Pants are definitely out, I might be able to squeeze in a stretchy dress but not sure how my tights will feel and it's still too chilly to go bare-legged.
