I get major food aversions during pregnancy and have to entirely rethink my meals. I went to the store before I started work today and stocked up on things I can stomach. Today has been saltines, 7up, turkey jerky, and chicken noodle soup. Other things I grabbed that I hope I still want to eat later: ruffles and French onion dip, suma oranges, cheese & crackers, crinkle fries, blueberry muffins.
Yesterday I had to order fast food delivery at 930am to get through my morning. The heart wants what it wants.
I’m constantly in need of food and picky as hell right now, it’s miserable.
@agea I totally feel you! I haven't hit the point yet in my pregnancy where I am having cravings or food aversions yet. But with my past 2 pregnancies, I had some crazy aversions. Things I normally loved, like pasta, made me so sick. And I craved oranges like crazy. I also craved fast food so much during my 2nd pregnancy. So I feel you with the delivery at 9:30am! I would get a sonic cheeseburger at 9am so often because that was the only thing that would help my morning nausea and vomiting.
Right now I am craving pasta actually. But I can't tell if it's just my normal self wanting it, or if my pregnant self does. I am only at 4w3d now, so once I hit 6 weeks, that will probably when all the things happen.
@Whitmore1027 sounds exactly like me. I just hit 6w today and it’s really kicked off in the last couple days. I can’t do pasta either. But yes to oranges and fast food lol!
I end up eating whatever thing I can get down way too many times and then finally get sick of it too so have to find something new. It’s a fun cycle.
I'm pretty sure this is just my regular self because I have been eating these since before Christmas, devoured a whole bag in like 4 days, but I have been just having a tiny bowl after lunch most days.

I don’t think this is a craving yet, but cheddar cheese and pretzels have been a daily snack this week. So good! Really anything cheesy, but that’s fairly standard for me haha
I want to eat everything, the last few days I am constantly hungry.
Been craving salty and spicy, which happened early in my last pregnancy too. Crackers, pickles, queso and chips. I'm trying to have fruit or a yogurt first so I don't eat half a bag of chips in one sitting!
Last time I had a strong poultry aversion for about the second half of my first trimester, and I think it's starting already. We ordered takeout the other night and I couldn't stomach the pot pie I ordered. Oddly enough cold chicken was fine last time, I just couldn't eat it hot.
@agea last pregnancy I ordered 2 McDonald's apple pies from ubereats one night. Just pies. No shame.
Right now all I want is carbs! I definitely had orange cravings my first pregnancy (as well as a bunch of random one-time cravings for food I never eat!) and I have no memory of what I ate at all for pregnancy #2.
So far I haven't had any cravings or aversions. However I am constantly starving and feel like I never stop eating. My toddler is loving it because I have snacks out 24/7.
The only thing that sounds good is citrus! This is exactly how it was with my first, so far. Almost all food sounds horrible and makes me queasy, but I could drink my weight in fresh-squeezed lemonade.
No cravings or aversions so far, and I've *mostly* been trying really hard to eat healthy in case the nausea shows up in the next few weeks and I get more limited. With my last pregnancy, I don't remember feeling ill until around 7-8 weeks, and it lasted until about 15-16 weeks, so we'll see. With DS, I craved plain unsweetened applesauce, so I considered getting some at the store last weekend for fun, but it didn't sound good so I skipped it.
Mostly trying to keep a high protein (since I'm a vegetarian) and high fiber (because of pregnancy constipation) diet while I don't have aversions yet. Last pregnancy my main aversion was meat, which is obviously not an issue this time.
I guess the closest thing to nausea/aversion that I've had so far is just really disliking the taste of my own breath in a mask at work. Gum has fixed that pretty easily so far!
It’s still early for me so I haven’t had any cravings/aversions yet. With my second all I wanted to eat was potatoes (in all their forms) so we’ll see how this goes! Nausea is usually an issue for me and it’s already started 🤢
@IdleFancy this is the hardest part for me- that virtually all food sounds gross. I have on hand right now, oj, lemonade, and oranges. I’m scared drinking too much at once will make me feel sick so I’m limiting it but when I have some it’s like the nectar of the gods.
@lmcw I would be too, deep fried pickles are life!
I had just purchased a meal plan, that is specifically tailored to me, just before I found out I was pregnant (my first day of it was the day before) and one of the breakfast options is Greek yogurt, fruit, and granola. I thought I'd try out a new granola for it and it is so good. I've been really, really enjoying that breakfast and I've even had it for dinner too lol. No real aversions yet, though the nausea has been around frequently since my bfp at 3w2d-ish.
I am craving a margarita, so I'm now frantically googling mocktail recipes. The same thing happened to a friend of mine. She never really liked them but when she got pregnant with her DD they were all she wanted!
I totally forgot until I was putting away my grocery order this morning but I have been all about cranberry cinnamon goat cheese warmed up with wheat thins as a snack! SO good!
New favourite snack is an apple with Nutella. That might be old news to a lot of you, but I only recently found out that I’m not allergic to hazelnuts so this is very exciting for me lol
@CanadianGamerMom that sounds delicious! I’ve been all about triscuits with chive & onion cream cheese lately! I had my husband pick up two containers of cream cheese yesterday because I don’t want to run out lol
I made some vegetarian/bean chili and it is giving me life. Im sure I’ll be over it soon but enjoying it while it lasts. So hard to find anything that sounds good.
@CanadianGamerMom that sounds delicious!! There's a cranberry and spice soft cheese I can get (pasturized!) and I may have to add that to my grocery list... (also, hi from another Canadian mama!)
@emeraldduchess@Aerialmrs@nasalot188 you will not regret it! And if for some reason you do regret this choice just send me your nutella, I will take care of it
@lmcw I am going back and forth between apples and Nutella or apples and chocolate hummus. The Trader Joe's brand tastes like brownie batter! Another good snack is pretzels with Laughing Cow cheese wedges.
This morning I had pickles at 9:30am. Can’t tell if it’s purely pregnancy or partly because our pickles from last summer turned out so good! Either way, I guess morning pickles are happening now.
I’m laughing about the pickles. I don’t like them, and if pregnancy changes that, hubby will be all over that. I’m a little less than 5 weeks I think, so no cravings outside what is normal. However, I am constantly hungry!
I finally had a non-citrus craving! We drove over an hour yesterday to get take-out from my favorite BBQ place in Austin (The Salt Lick). We have great BBQ locally, but suddenly I needed the very clean non-greasy style I grew up with and nothing else would suffice. The only downside? We couldn’t bring leftovers home, because being trapped with the smell would make me hate BBQ for the next year.
Also, I’m currently in my bedroom, because my daughter is eating peanut butter crackers and I thought I was going to pass out from the smell. So ready for more cravings, less aversions!
@emeraldduchess I’m sorry, WHAT?! I guess I can add chocolate hummus to the list of reasons why Canadians are screwed over by not having Trader Joe’s. I may have to search for alternatives.
I love laughing cow cheese. I can’t buy it too often because it doesn’t last very long 😂
@lmcw that is a crime that there's no Trader Joe's in Canada!! Can't Justin Trudeau do something about that?! That place is magical. 😆 Their seasonal products are the best! I'll be dreaming about their mini chocolate peppermint ice cream cones until next December.
@emeraldduchess it stinks!! My inlaws have a home in Florida so I used to get a TJs fix a few times a year but not right now. The last few times I went to Buffalo I added a TJs stop on the way home but that's out of the question now too. I'll just have to live vicariously through all of you American gals!
