Re: Introductions!

  • Due date? July 25, 2021

How did you find out? Period was late, did a pregnancy test and was surprised to find out we were expecting.

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?) My husband and I have been made married for 10 years and I have been working as a Senior IT Project Manager for a Financial Company. We currently have an 8 year old daughter and a 4 year only daughter. We were going to try to get pregnant after getting getting the COVID vaccine, due to my current age and health concerns, being 41 and will be 42 in January. Fingers cross everything goes well.

First appointment? Any symptoms? We had an initial appointment with the doctor that confirmed we were pregnant and got all the blood work taken care of. Last week we had an ultra sound verifying everything how far along we are which is roughly 8 weeks, 6 days. Have extreme nausea, headaches, exhaustion, etc. Had this during my first pregnancy, but did not have any of this during the last pregnancy, so its been a little rough to say the least.

Hope everyone else is hanging in there.

How did you find out? tested WAAAAAAY too early (like 8 days DPO), thought it was negative so I just shoved it in the cabinet before the reading window was up (im not sure why i didnt throw it away). But three days later (TMI), I started to feel like my bodily odor smelled the way I remembered with my first pregnancy so I decided to test again. Positive right away and checked the cabinet to look at the test from a few days prior and that one was definitely positive, too lol.

My husband and I have a toddler son (May 2018) and a black lab/pointer mix. I'm a tax accountant and have lived a pretty boring life during covid lockdown. We live in the Sf bay area. I'm 32 years old.

    First appointment? Any symptoms?
Had my first appt on Dec 7th. One baby, thank goodness. Awful hyperemesis gravidarum since around 5 weeks. I had HG with my first pregnancy, and mentally it is much much harder the second time around. Mostly because I know that this nausea and vomiting will likely last the entire pregnancy. Would love to connect with other ladies with HG.
  • @kpc914 I’m part of the HG club too, although it’s taken much longer for my Dr to actually diagnose it this time around. I’ve found this time around to be MUCH worse. I was able to get the right meds and diet going with my first after my initial ER visit and it was mostly tolerable after that, but this time no such luck yet.

I agree mentally this time is much more challenging too. It’s been so bad this time that we are considering being done with 2 because I just hate feeling this way all the time. I hate to complain because pregnancy in itself is a beautiful gift, but man it is HARD to be positive some days
  • Ugh. I'm so sorry, that's frustrating. Seems so strange that with your previous history this wasn't just "dealt with" by your OB.
  • @jessd0117 ugh I’m so sorry. Happy to have you here and have someone who can related though. We are 100% done at two.... I can’t do this again and will be signing the consent to have my tubes tied if I end up with a c section. Either way my husband is getting a vasectomy. Mentally I just can’t do this for a third baby.
  • @kpc914 I’m in the same boat here! I absolutely cannot do this again mentally. We were discussing how we want to prevent another pregnancy going forward, but haven’t come to any concrete conclusions yet. I started feeling much better somewhere around 20-22 weeks last time around so I’m an just trying to focus on a potential light at the end of the tunnel lol
  • Thank you thank you!!

The move was nothing like "smooth" - but it's over!  Now I live out of boxes - - finally over all-day-sickness so hopefully my body will let me unpack more now!

  • Apparently, I am a little late to the party. Lol

    Due date?  July 24

How did you find out? I was feeling really sick and it was the day that my period should have started so I went and bought a test. It was very much positive.

Tell us about yourself: my husband and I have been married 9 1/2 years. I have 3 boys, ages 7, 5, and 2 1/2. This is our last nugget and we are over the moon after having suffered a miscarriage in September.
I am a 4th grade teacher and I absolutely love my job, but this year has been incredibly difficult. We have been in person most of the year with only a 2 week break where we had to go online.

First appointment? Any symptoms? My appointment was in mid December and everything looked good. I have another appointment this next week to just check in on baby. My anatomy ultrasound is the beginning of March and I can’t wait to see baby again. It always gives me great peace of mind afterward.
  • Hello everyone! I’m excited to share this journey with you!

Due date? July 13 (exactly one week before my own birthday!)

How did you find out? I was a day or two late so took a home pregnancy test

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We have a two year old son, 4 dogs and 2 turtles. I’m a physician assistant and recently switched jobs this year to assistant professor and clinical coordinator for a PA program. (If anyone has suggestions for discussions with boss and HR when you haven’t been there for a year yet I’m open to advice!) my husband is a physical therapist but is also doing an online masters for health informatics currently. I also started a side gig a few months ago and sell Usbourne Books & More books and activities for kids! We like to travel and have missed it dearly this year!

First appointment? Any symptoms? Had my dating ultrasound in the beginning of December. This pregnancy, I’ve had more symptoms than my last - nausea, fatigue, sore breasts, skin breakouts.
  • *high five to a fellow teacher. I'm first grade. I totally understand the hardship of this year. We're hybrid (asynchronous thank goodness). The snack drawer is in full swing this year!
  • Hi Mamas!

I was advised to introduce myself here since I'm due in July with my second baby.

    Due date?
Roughly July 9, 2021 (don't have an exact date because my ovulation was about a week late but I don't know the exact day)

    How did you find out?
We had been trying but I had lost hope because I'm still breastfeeding and my hormones have been wacko since I day-weaned my daughter last January. Once I actually started a "normal" cycle again, I regularly took pregnancy tests, but I was pretty sure I had a short luteal phase and knew that could make it difficult or impossible to get pregnant. I tested when I thought my period was due based on my previous two cycles (the only two regular cycles I had had since my daughter was born in March, 2018). Test was negative but I didn't start my period. I thought my hormones must still be messed up. I kept testing when my period continued not to show but wasn't expecting to get a positive. I was utterly and completely shocked to get a positive on cycle day 34 (which I was planning to be my last test to assure myself once and for all that I wasn't pregnant), a week and a half after I was expecting my period! So turns out, you can get pregnant with a short luteal phase, miraculously!

Tell us about yourself (Other children/pets?Job? Things you like to do? Spouse/partner?)
I am married to my husband of 8 years and currently have a super-sweet 2 1/2 year old daughter. I also had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks back in December of 2016 before I had my daughter. I am a stay-at-home mom and I blog about various aspects of mom life. I share my experiences as well as my research in hopes of helping and encourageing other mamas (https://mamarissa.com/).

    First appointment? Any symptoms?
I've been feeling pretty awful with this pregnancy, VERY different from my first two pregnancies. With my daughter, things were pretty easy and enjoyable all around. A little bit of morning sickness during the first trimester, not too bad. And toward the end of the third trimester I got a lot of back pain and got worn out easily. Oh, and I was ALWAYS thirsty (which continued quite intensely throughout labor and also throughout most of breastfeeding).

But this time around ... the exhaustion is just unreal. I have literally spent the majority of my days since about 8 weeks laying on the couch all day, getting up only to meet my daughter and my basic needs. It's been pretty brutal. I'm not the most energetic person to start with, but I've never experienced anything like this. And I didn't even have exhaustion with my daughter! I've also had worse nausea than I did with my daughter, although the exhaustion is the worst symptom. I've also been having those back problems that didn't start until about 7 or 8 months with my daughter. And I'm not sleeping well. I wake up frequently to pee and also sometimes wake up during the night or really early morning and just can't sleep anymore. I've been taken quite off guard by how much harder this pregnancy has been.

As for appointments, I've only had one in-office visit and one phone visit so far. I plan to have a natural birth and low-intervention pregnancy and have a wonderful midwife and natural-birth-friendly hospital. My husband and I have agreed to not get any ultrasounds or dopplar this time around, and I will be doing a healthier alternative to the glucose test. I had a beautiful natural birth with my daughter, but there were still some interventions we had that we later regretted, so we are going a little further with it this time.

Congratulations to all you other July baby mamas! I'm looking forward to going on this journey with you!
  • Due date? July 19

How did you find out? Found out super early- felt nauseous, so took a test. Totally stunned.

I am a first grade teacher. I have two girls, ages 7 and 5 and a beagle mix fur baby. We were planning to be done and it has been really tough for my DH. We are still working through it.
  • @AShaw2010 I'm a first grade teacher as well! Welcome to the July club. :D

    Hi!

    I m due July 4

Found out early because i was late by a week. I was more surprised than him!

My physician let me down at 11 weeks just before christmas and it was kind of stressful to find someone to follow me! But now everything s good.

I m a bit of a workaholic, and he is starting his own company. We are French / Anglo-canadian - which has its challenges ;). not other kid !

    (& we are in Canada)
  • Hello!

    Due date: July 17

How did you find out? We were already TTC so I was testing as early as possible haha. Took a second test before it was very obviously positive

A bit about myself: I'm an American who moved to Canada 7 years ago to be with my husband. I have a background in ECE but got out a few years ago, not sure if I want to go back to teaching in the future. Might do something like teaching/instructing in corporations or businesses (I know there's an actual term for this but I'm pleading serious pregnancy brain right now). For now I'm a SAHM to our 19 month old lil guy. Covid and winter is driving us crazy but we're getting through it. Daniel Tiger has been doing a lot of heavy lifting for us 😂

First appointment? Any symptoms? In the second trimester now so that is all behind us now, thank god. It was largely the same as my first: evening nausea, fatigue. I feel very grateful that my symptoms weren't too bad. It also kinda tipped me off that possibly we would have another boy (we are). Happy to be here!
