Symptoms so far

Hey guys, I'm not planning on being the one to start all the discussions and daily/weekly threads, so feel free to jump in and start them if you want!  I usually can't get on until later in the day, so me starting a WTF Wednesday at this point seems silly.

BUT I figured we could start discussing early symptoms!  What are you all experiencing so far?

Re: Symptoms so far

  • My first symptom, strange enough, was enhanced sense of smell. I woke up in the middle of the night and could smell my shampoo on my pillow, which like those febreeze ads say,  I'm normally nose blind to. I immediately thought I might be pregnant. Otherwise, fatigue and, because I'm still nursing my first baby, a decrease in my milk supply.

  • Haven't noticed too much so far.  I had one day last weekend with a really tender breast and a few bouts of food aversion, but they can also be attributed to other things so I hadn't though too far into them!

@shleks I'm sure people will start picking them up!  I'll try and remember to pop in before work when I can and maybe post some of them if no one else has gotten to it yet. That would likely be too early for any real discussion, though! lol

  • I have had a lot of nausea and tender boobs. The fatigue is soo bad right now. A few days before I tested I fell asleep on the couch in the middle of the day randomly and the next night I almost threw up (I threw up EVERY day with my son until I was about 23 weeks)... that was my push to test the day before my missed period.
  • For me, I haven’t had much yet. Some extra hunger, itchy and tender nipples, sleepiness, and some hormone induced emotions. Ha

@WildMagelet That would be great! I was thinking we should at least start a “Randoms” thread so we can talk about whatever is going on and not just a specific topic. I just didn’t want to hog all the discussions. 😅

  • With my other pregnancies I barely had any noticeable symptoms until I started showing. This time, I had 2 weeks of CRAZY dreams when i don't ever dream usually, one afternoon of bad nausea, super tender nipples, I'm absolutely starving around midnight and I seem to be suffering from insomnia which is so weird for someone who can fall asleep at the drop of a hat (at night) 🤷🏼‍♀️ I've also been peeing like crazy which I never did with my other pregnancies. I'm not sure if all these changes are due to my age this time or what!

@schleks - The boards I've been on in the past with regular check-ins (both on TK & TB) usually it was just whoever got around to posting it first! Most people are chill and just happy to participate in the conversation, as opposed to claiming "ownership" of a specific post.

So I encourage everyone if you gals want to participate in one of the weekly posts from this thread: https://forums.thebump.com/discussion/12753856/read-here-first-and-welcome#latest to just go ahead and start it if no one else has so far on that day!

  • @WildMagelet Yeah same here!  I never started any discussions in my last group, so I was surprised no one was starting them yet here!

  • I’m having some mild nausea and fatigue. My nausea was so bad with my DS that I lost 7lbs in my first trimester last time. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen again. I’ve also been having a sharp (but not severe) pain in my right lower abdomen. That landed me my first OB visit on Wednesday and I’ll be having an ultrasound as soon as my HCG is above 5000 (hopefully early next week). Realllly hoping it’s just a cyst. I’ve also have decreased appetite. And insomnia which I didn’t have with my first.

I’m terrible at starting posts but I’ll gladly join in the conversation
  • @moguippy FX for good news at your visit!

Don't worry about starting threads if you're not comfortable, but just know you're more than welcome to if you decide you want to!

  • No symptoms here yet beyond minor cramping, but I know they’ll come in due time. Last pregnancy I had very bad morning sickness too, @moguippy. Hoping to avoid that somewhat this time around.
  • My increased level of b***chiness was my first clue I was expecting. Then the taste of coffee changing. And of course lovely fatigue but up at 4am daily. It’s really been lovely and I’m a “week” in lol
  • @lena1024 I just noticed that coffee tasted completely off for me yesterday! And now that I think of it, I had a soda that other day that tasted way too sugary for me. Guess it'll definitely help deter my caffeine consumption.

  • @WildMagelet it happened to me in my first pregnancy too! I remember going to target after leaving the hospital and finally enjoying coffee from SB lol
  • @lena1024 @WildMagelet weird coffee taste over here too! 👋🏻 Happened when I was pregnant with my DS. Other than that, the fatigue is real. Thank God I’m WFH and can tap a nap during the day if needed. Sore boobs and dizziness if I get up/move too fast is rearing their ugly heads as well.
  • Mainly just really tender boobs and fatigue (took a 2 and a half hour nap today - glorious!) so far. I was pretty sick for the first 14 weeks with my last 2 pregnancies, maybe I can avoid that this time around (FX!)

  • So far my boob have just hurt like crazy! I've had a few bouts of nausea which I've learned is triggered by the smell of latex gloves. Literally almost threw up at work because we are supposed to wear them. (I got switched to nitrile gloves now)
  • Mild cramping, a couple of intense hot flashes, and minor waves of nausea a couple of times.

And maybe enhanced sense of smell? I swore I smelled the trash from my office dumpster (which is in the back and a parking lot away from the building) when I was walking up to the front door on Thursday and the person I was with didn’t smell anything.

But I’d just gotten a BFN that morning and I’ve always had a pretty strong sniffer so I dismissed it... until now!
  • Any stms notice less boob tenderness the second time around? It’s still pretty early (I’m only 4 weeks tomorrow), but my boobs feel totally normal, whereas with DS they were tender at this point. I only weaned DS a couple months ago and my boobs are basically deflated water balloons :D so maybe they’re already stretched out enough and won’t get as sore until the milk comes in.
  • @hannahbananas11 mine are way more painful this time around. They are firmer too. I'm in a sports bra so I don't have them move at all. 🙃
  • @hannahbananas11 It's been 6 years since my last pregnancy, but mine are VERY painful this time. I don't remember them being this painful the last 2 times.

  • @hannahbananas11 my boobs haven’t been sore this time around. I can’t remember if they were last time though.
  • Nausea and food aversion are in full force for me today. The only thing that sounded appetizing for dinner was frozen bean burritos covered in hot sauce.

  • I don’t remember having boob soreness. I have some slight nausea that comes in and out and I’ve been totally good passing on coffee. Not much else to report though just yet!
  • @birdiejo That’s good to hear! I’m in the same boat as you. Makes me nervous when I don’t feel symptoms, but I need to take a breath and enjoy the last good weeks before the hellstorm that is the first trimester (at least it was a hellstorm in my experience with DS).  :D

I woke up this morning and thought, "Huh. That's weird. I don't feel pregnant." Then I sat up and everything changed. LOL Good morning bladder, hello nausea, glad to see you!
  • I am only 4 weeks today but I am sooo tired, which is always my most difficult symptom. I also feel pretty nauseous for it being so early. I didn't really have morning sickness with either of my others so I'm a little worried!

  • I’m 5+1 and haven’t had too many symptoms. I did have some bad emotional mood swings and crying around 4 weeks which have subsided for now, thank god. I’ve had weird pains in my lower right abdomen which I want to get checked out soon. I don’t have much of an appetite for anything and have lost 1lb or so since finding out I am pregnant. Total opposite of how I was with my first pregnancy, where I was eating everything except red meat (major aversion that never went away). Bracing myself for the nausea to hit at 6 weeks like it did last time  :(
  • @nbcarlson I felt nauseous around 4 weeks too, right around a day or so after implantation. It was weird and it went away after a few hours. I hope yours is temporary!
  • @belle1390 I have been eating less too! It’s so weird because I wanted ALL THE FOOD with my first.
    IAmPregnant Ticker
  • What’s fun is wanting to eat and being hungry but also feeling nauseous while you’re eating.
  • Oh man the butt and back aches are no joke! My first pregnancy I was very nauseous about 1/2 the day but never actually sick... it’s looking like that’s going to be similar this time around!
  • 5w 4d. That’s how long I made it before putting an emergency puke bucket next to my bed. I feel like garbage tonight. I’m hoping it’s mostly the fact that I ate fast food for lunch, which I try to avoid since it always gives me stomach pain. But today it’s stomach pain and nausea. So I guess no more fast food for the rest of this pregnancy. I shouldn’t be eating it anyway but it was so convenient
  • I’ve got heartburn like crazy. I thought it was nausea at first, but it’s not, just heartburn down by my diaphragm. WTF? I only had heartburn in the third trimester with DS because of the pressure from his size. Didn’t think it was an early pregnancy thing. BUT I’ll gladly take it instead of the awful nausea I had last time. FX I don’t end up with both. :unamused:
  • I still only really have tender/sore breasts and fatigue, but I was looking back at my Belly books from my last 2 pregnancies, and my "morning" sickness didn't start until 6 or 7 weeks. I'm 5+3 today and know not every pregnancy is the same, but now I'm waking up every day bracing myself.

My boobs are getting more sore and my nausea usually kicks into high gear at 6 weeks.  Definitely in the calm before the storm.
  • Anyone else having weird food aversions? Anything sweet is leaving a HORRIBLE taste in my mouth. Mainly artificial sweet-fruits are still fine. But I got one of my normal drinks from Starbucks today and even with limiting the pumps of vanilla to 1 I wanted to spit it all out.
  • Yes! Like all meat is just disgusting to me right now! I usually love sweets and nothing sounds good right now...not even ice cream
  • The aversions hit this week for me too! NOTHING sounds good. And meat is the worst.
    IAmPregnant Ticker
  • All I want is good bread & butter w/salt. Anything super salty is my bff right now
  • No sweets for me too! All I want to eat is vegetables and fruit. Meat is hit or miss.
