Re: June Randoms

  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason San Antonio. I'm honestly avoiding reading anything more about it because it won't change that he's going, but it definitely makes me nervous too.
  • Loading the player...
  • @carrotsandpeas3 Okay I won’t either then. 😬
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason not to pretend it isn't happening, I just know he's going essentially no matter what at this point. I'm definitely glad I decided not to go, but just hoping the trip goes okay and he doesn't bring anything back with him or even worse, get stuck there or something.
  • Anyone else with the swollen ankles? I don't think I had them this early with DD. I did wear compression socks toward the end, but later than this! Also she was born end of December so heat wasn't such an issue (both for exacerbating swelling and wearing compression socks--no way am I willingly going to wear those things in this heat!).

  • @MJDsquared 🙋🏼‍♀️ yep. I didn’t have any swelling with my first until after he was born, but already have minor swelling in my ankles. My doctor said in lieu of compression socks to keep pushing water, reduce salt, and have my feet up while I’m sitting. That’s helped.
  • @mamahosch Yes it is, but his plan was he was going to fix it. I’ve already put my foot down on that, and they’re okay with it. Not happy with the situation, but okay.
  • jgrodojgrodo member
@MJDsquared yah! I wore them with DS  at work, but that involves lots of standing and walking. I wore them a few weeks ago with my shorts and tank and I'm sure I looked ridiculous, I def won't be able to make through summer wearing them in the heat. I was debating leaving downstairs and using them kind of like slippers when DS naps.

@animalandplantrescuer that sounds like a tough situation. Glad you were able to successfully stop the crib at least

@carrotsandpeas3 totally makes sense. Hopefully, he'll be careful and not being anything back.
  • Add me to the extra-bitchy train. I'm blaming hormones and mercury retrograde. This whole week has felt like a series of unfortunate events, especially yesterday. I can't remember if I mentioned this before, but we switched from Sprint (ugh) to T-Mobile a couple weeks ago, and ever since the switch I haven't been able to send or receive MMS (picture/emoji) text messages and any landline phone calls I get go straight to voicemail with no missed-call notification. So, I spent 2 hours on the phone with T-Mobile on Monday, worked all day Tuesday and was exhausted by the time I got home, then took my phone to the T-Mobile store on Wednesday and they couldn't figure it out, so I called LG and they couldn't figure it out either. Then yesterday, I called six different T-Mobile stores because I was fed up and decided to just buy a new phone. Finally one store about 20 minutes away said they had it in stock, so MH and I drove down there in a rainstorm and waited to be seen. The gal who I spoke to on the phone went to go check the stock room for the phone and comes back out and tells us, "I'm sorry, we don't actually have that phone in stock. I just assumed that since it was on the sales floor that we had it so I didn't check in the back." ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME??

This is why people shop online.

So, I came home and order my phone online, paid expedited shipping, and it arrived today. Trying to activate it, and it's stuck at 57% progress. I seriously just want to cry, but MH wants to go get dinner and see our friends acoustic show, so I guess we're going now.

  • @MJDsquared swollen here too. 🙋 I swelled the whole second half of my previous pregnancy so I'm not surprised. Since DD was born in August, I dealt with wearing compression socks in the summer. I made it work by wearing them mostly at night. Between that and having my feet up, it made a big difference.
  • @carrotsandpeas3 If it's any help, my dad lives in San Antonio and he says things have been better there than he's heard about in the rest of the state.

@MJDsquared Swollen ankles here too. And feet. I don't think it started until about 32 weeks last time, but definitely around 24 this time. Compression socks, as had been said, are great, but do kind of suck in the summer. I definitely gave up sometimes and just wore flip flops (because my feet didn't fit other shoes 🤦🏻‍♀️) but that was not the best choice.

@babyodo I think that scenerio with your phone would make me grouchy and grumpy regardless. I hope it gets resolved quickly!
  • Sorry I've been MIA for awhile, work has been absolutely crazy and I have been completely exhausted even on my days off. Anytime I visited TB the past couple weeks I could not get logged on. Finally got on tonight!!

Add me to the grumpy/swollen ankles club. I feel bad being a grump especially at work, but people being idiots about not wearing masks and just having general disrespect of other humans has been driving me crazy! We dont have a lot of cases around here so most restrictions have been lifted and a lot of people are in the "it's over!" Or worse "it never happened!" Mindset which is frustrating. Plenty of people have been angels though so there are small silver linings.

Anyone else waking up with leg cramps in the night? I think I saw someone mention it while I skimmed through all the recent posts. Any tips? I have been trying so hard to stay hydrated during the day, but maybe could do better.

  • @ginevere magnesium powder helps me not get leg cramps!
  • @mckjacks Ooh thanks! I'll definitely look into trying that 😄
  • @ginevere I'm losing faith in humanity!!
@babyodo omg those are the things that drive me absolutely nuts

In more pregnancy bitching/first world problems but just let me vent:

-my husband power washed our driveway for 6HOURS. I repeat, 6 HOURS. I understand it takes time, it was super dirty, lalalalala. But holy shit. I worked a full 8 hour day. He then went and took a shower and sort of rolled his eyes when I asked him to watch DS while I finished cleaning and organizing 2 closets...
-Amazon told me they had issues delivering a package with 4 items and that they were sending it back. So I reordered those items. Sure enough, they showed up today 🙄
-our property taxes are going up because apparently they decided our house is now worth 20k more than a year ago.

End rant! At least we are getting takeout because I'm so over cooking

  • No swelling of feet and ankles here yet. But when I’m outside in the heat I’ve been swelling more than usual! I couldn’t even take my rings off before bed last night.
  • @mamahosch add me to that list! No feet swelling, but I keep forgetting to take my rings off when I take the dogs for a walk. Although, it’s only a little bit worse than when I’m not pregnant.
  • @peanutorcookie I feel your pain; I’ve also been awake since 3 something and DH left bed way before then too. It’s been a rough few weeks of not sleeping
  • DS randomly woke up at 145 and wouldn’t lay down or sleep with me. I was up with him until 7 when I had DH take over. I know I’m in for sleepless nights in a few months but I’m not prepared to do it now. 😴 😴

@ginevere and @morethanamama totally losing faith in humanity- I don't understand the reasoning at all! I was so annoyed as I was walking with DS and people with no masks just don't even attempt to move or distance at all. I end up basically playing "chicken" with them and then hauling the stroller into the street or what not. Harrumph.

DS was up so early this morning and didn't want to go back to sleep 😕 at least he's napping now.

You guys can still wear your rings? I gave up on mine a while ago, haha. As I sit in the AC with my compression socks on and legs up hehe
  • @profmcgonagall Oh, I feel this pain. My son is generally a great sleeper but two days ago he woke up at 3am and was up for hours. He usually sleeps from 7:30-7ish without a peep. I'm not ready for total sleep deprivation yet. Luckily he went back to normal yesterday (although he still woke up at 6 today).
  • Re swelling, the best trick I got told by a nurse last pregnancy was to reduce sodium in junk food but to make sure you're getting enough real salt (I use pink Himalayan kind) in your diet because just water alone isn't going to do anything if you don't have the right electrolyte balance. I have a mineral drop electrolyte concentrate that I mix into my water. Fingers crossed I can make it through this pregnancy without swelling, so far so good 🥴
  • @jgrodo I'm with you, my hands are notorious for swelling even when not preggo. I havent worn my real rings since 8wks. Luckily I have a nylon band i got for the gym that fits comfortably so my finger doesn't feel naked.

I havent been sleeping great either, though mine is because I've been having awful acid reflux causing nausea in the middle of the night, and even when that resolves a bit I either have to pee or the little one gets wiggly. I'm super sensitive to internal movement, which is both a blessing and a curse.

I've started trying to moderate my evening meals even more than before, but it's still rough. My husband has been trying to be helpful, but he also I think is getting a bit annoyed at my lethargy and lack of motivation. He doesn't say anything, but I'm normally the cook dinner every night and all three meals on the weekends kinda girl. That is so not me anymore, which I feel bad about. I want to still feel like I contribute to the household. But with work and making this baby I feel like I'm running in uncomfortable circles every day.
  • Tomorrow is DH’s birthday and he wanted to have a socially distanced backyard bonfire tonight. We have about 8 or so people coming! It will be nice to socialize!!!
  • My toddler cut his nap short while I was cleaning out the garage 😭 my husband was mowing and I was supposed to help but instead I've been stuck inside with the toddler for about 2 hours now. I'm letting him destroy the living room (meaning taking out all of his toys so I don't have to move much. I feel like a bad mom but the constant sitting and standing is killing me.
  • Welp I didn't think about my ring until now and now it's stuck and I'm going to cry. Tried soap, oil, icing it now, tried a floss trick from online... And I'm chugging water. Plus it's not super hot today! Ugh.

  • @MJDsquared, oh no! That’s happened to me before. I hope you were able to get it off. It’s been a rough weekend. DS (2) has had a recurring 103 fever and diarrhea. I almost ran him to the ER last night. It’s the first time he’s really been sick and I am running on almost no sleep. Then this morning, I went into the kitchen to make coffee and a bird flew at me and scared the shit out of me. I screamed and woke up DS and DH. Luckily, DH was able to get rid of it easily. We have no AC in England and have to sleep with our windows open. We also have no screens and no way to put them on. Never thought a bird would fly in though.

  • @profmcgonagall I hope He feels better. I hate when fevers show up because they’re so scary. We used electrolyte popsicles and drinks to keep her hydrated.

Also what are the odds that a bird comes in?? So weird.
  • jgrodojgrodo member
@MJDsquared oh no! That totally sucks, were you able to get it off?

@aefsparrow nicr, a nylon one sounds like a good option. I wore a fashion right(I guess that's what you'd call it, I dunno) that usually fits on my pointer finger on my ring finger last pregnancy but this time I just haven't even messed with it - I still had about 10-12 lbs of D's baby weight to lose so my rings didn't fit totally right and I didn't want to scratch him so I got used to not wearing my rings but I miss them hehe

@profmcgonagall oh no!!!! I would have totally screamed too! Hope your lil one recovers quickly!

First world rant. I am so mad at grocery delivery this morning. They put milk in with my eggs and spinach  and broccoli. Smashed milk container smashed my eggs and yolk and milk all over my fresh veggies. So much for my smoothies this week and now actually have to go to a store to get milk for ds. Rarh.
  • @jgrodo that’s so annoying. Our grocery store has made an extra trip for us when they had happened. But I know not every grocery delivery service is this kind. So disappointing!
  • @jgrodo that's a legitimate complaint!
@profmcgonagall wow, I would have SCREAMED so much as well.
No swelling here yet but honestly I haven't worn my rings much since I'm home all the time pretty much! I have silicon ones I got for our honeymoon and will probably wear those around baby.

We woke up to a wet yard this morning! Looks like it rained overnight and it's kind of chilly. So nice! I mean, it will probably be 75f at least in a few hours but I'm enjoying the gloomy weather and the extra water for our lawn😊
  • @profmcgonagall we don't have the bird problem here in Canada but back home it's quite common! We only use the AC during the hottest days (+40C, sorry no idea how many F) so windows and balconies are always open. Sometimes I would be on the phone with my mom and she'll interrupt me to go chase a bird before it poops in the house. Screaming also works though and I would definitely have done the same  :D

I got my first bag of hand me downs for the baby yesterday! Didn't have time to go through it yet but I'm so excited!

  • @jgrodo that's the worst! We do pickups and I swear to God nobody knows how to bag anything, they throw my milk on top of any bread or fruit I order every single time, I've gotten broken eggs more times than I can count. Literally so frustrating! 😫
On another note, is anyone else absolutely panicking every time you see the amount of days left until your due date? My least favorite feature on babylist is by far the countdown, I don't want to know, just tell me weeks because it seems more manageable 😂
  • @jgrodo I had the opposite problem with my grocery pickup yesterday. I was just getting 4 items at Whole Foods and they put them in 4 separate (full size) bags. I understand separating raw meat from other stuff, but chips and bakery items can live together!
  • I worked at Trader Joe’s for over 10 years, and stories like this are why I still want to bag my groceries when I go shopping. I watch them and just cringe. When I bagged I even tried to bag according to where the item was going. Frozen together and cold together because then you could take those bags to the fridge, and they help insulate for the drive home. Drives me insane that they don’t think things through.
  • @kalesix3 I panic seeing the weeks honestly. I'm sure part of it is finding out so late. But then my OB thinks we'll be doing the RCS between 37-38 weeks (DS came 37+4) so I see 14 and know that's less than 12. And now I'm stressing again.

I have movers coming on Thursday and I'm only like 60% packed, my garage is still a giant mess, and I still haven't reserved a storage unit.  It doesn't help that I can really only do things for 30-45 minutes at a time before I need to sit for a bit. At least it will be mostly over this week - then comes unpacking 🙃
  • I'm in light panic mode, mostly I am annoyed at how larger I am compared to DS, not that I care about the weight but I'm overall less in shape than 2 years ago and I get tired more easily, plus belly starts being in the way more. That's what worries me and since I have a long to-do list I'm gonna have to get on it!
  • I’m super excited my maternity swimsuit I ordered from target arrived today and fits great and has decent boob support.  We’re going to my sister in laws parents beach house for the 4th and I needed something wear.

@anitamargarita_82 well, I just made my first baby purchase. Thanks for sharing! That swaddle set was way too cute to pass up! Wish they had the option for the hat and headband since I don't know the sex but I went the safe route and just stuck with the hat. Works either way.
