Re: June Randoms

  • So unproductive. Lots of meetings this week, it's stressing me out already. I have received an offer to interview with my H's company. Career wise this would be amazing but it's bad timing due to pregnancy so we'll see what happens. I'd be happy to go back into an office next year if the offer is good but not ready to leave my job now.

Hoping I can get my butt into gear for the rest of the day!

  • We had my toddler’s 18m checkup today and realized that his next visit will probably be right around the same time as his brother’s 2 month check-up! 😱
  • I just can’t believe it’s June 😱
  • @mamahosch same... despite everything, this year is flying by!
  • It's a no good rotten horrible day.

    Car needs $1500 in repairs.
    Lost a filling.
The "O" button disappeared off my keyboard, making typing difficult.
Discovered a giant crack in the case of my laptop.

    *pout*

  • Sorry @kboydbowman that is an awful day!

In Texas nature news, I watched a wasp drag a sizeable dead spider through my backyard Taking it home for dinner, I suppose. 🤮
  • @kboydbowman sorry for the no good, very bad day!

I've been having trouble with anxiety and insomnia often incited by people being terrible on Facebook, so I deactivated today. I was putting it off because that's how I keep up with my prior BMB, but I needed a break from FB at large, even though I had already unfollowed so many awful people. I plan to go back eventually because it is a way I keep in contact with a lot of people, just needed a more complete break for a bit.
  • Not to seem like a fan at all, because I'm not in the slightest, but damn nobody can make angel food cakes like amish bakeries can. 😣 I picked one up from the store for birthday strawberry shortbread after talking about it endlessly, but the cake..
it doesn't even look like angel food cake!

@carrotsandpeas3 you gotta prioritize yourself and your health at all costs, it's not worth it if it's just causing anxiety and stress!
  • I’m there with you @carrotsandpeas3.  The sheer amount of crap on FB is awful.  Plus the state of my state is crazy.   People looting just to steal stuff because it seems like the thing to do.  Lighting people’s cars on fire that are parked on the street.  The national guard has been activated to help control what’s happening in WA.   It’s mind boggling.

My husband and I are finally having the talk about circumcising.  That’s not going well.

@k@kbowman78 sorry about your crummy day.  When it rains it really seems to poor sometimes and those are the worst days!  I always cringe when I take my car in for maintenance because 1500 bucks is pretty routine when something needs to be fixed on mine 😱.

I’m going back to work on Wednesday.  I’m excited to have some normalcy in life again.   Plus my grocery bill will go back to being cheap since nobody will be home during the day.
  • @carrotsandpeas3, nothing wrong with making your mental health a priority.
I have been lucky that most people I’m friends with haven’t been posting stupid shit but I have had to unfriend a few people.

@kalesix3, strawberry shortcake sounds amazing. I hope it still tastes good.
I agree that Amish bakeries are the best!
We have a lot of Amish near my hometown and damn they make good pies.

  • Thanks ladies. I had already unfriended/unfollowed so many people during the last major election, but it is just too much all around right now. Just seems to bring out the extreme opinions without actually bringing forward any productive discussions or interactions. Just a lot of echo chambers and insults, even from people I respect and expect better from. Hoping to focus more on some positivity in my own life.

My first day back at work went well! It was weird seeing that many people in a day, but it gave me at least a modicum of normalcy. I work in a hospital, so outside of the cafeteria, they are pretty strict on masking and my co-workers seem to be taking it seriously. Guess this is our new normal for the foreseeable future!

@carrotsandpeas3 sounds like you're taking positive actions for your mental health! I think I might have the take a break from FB and the news it's just breaking my heart. If I could go out to a peaceful protest with my little man I would.  That's great that work went well! I'm so nervous to actually be called in. I work in a hospital too and reading the updates on PPE is making me anxious.

@carrotsandpeas3 in the past few days I've slashed my friend's list for sure. I'm literally going on it to check on my bmb and a couple of other groups, I am also considering a big break.
@kboydbowman sorry about the crummy day. We just got some financial relief after paying for our yard work and got a $790 bill from homeowners insurance because we totally forgot to renew after refinancing 🤦🏻‍♀️ the good news is that is seems like I've already met my deductible so my bill for the anatomy scan is $63!!
  • @baseballismyfavoriteseason lol it really does!

@profmcgonagall yes it definitely wasn't scrimping on taste, as I thoroughly enjoyed it, but the cake wasn't a fluffy mountain, it was more dense like pound cake but oh well. I definitely agree on the pies though, so yummy 🤤

It's really hard to not be going back to work myself, I just had another interview that went pretty well, but once they know I'm pregnant they all say no thank you, it's happened so many times I'm beginning to wonder if I'll ever get another job :/
  • @kboydbowman sorry about your crummy day, that sucks :( same to @kalesix3 about being turned down for jobs, that is BS!
@peanutorcookie don't read on if you don't want to know more, but I think spider wasps are super cool...the spider is food for its little wasp babies! The adults eat nectar like painful butterflies :D
@carrotsandpeas3 I'm with you. I got really bummed out and all in my head yesterday because of several Facebook posts, and decided once again that I need some space. Even in seemingly reasonable discussions, people don't seem to actually be listening to each other at all, just expressing their own views to whoever will listen.

@baseballismyfavoriteseason  I feel like that every single day.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @amapa20 such BS 😩 It doesn't help that I got pregnant in January so all my early months were spent in quarantine, now to say "I'm due in October" just makes people hesitate because it's already June.. but I'm a nanny, so I can't just not tell the families I need maternity leave at some point.. I really miss the stability I left to move out to Denver for better opportunities, joke's on me 😣
  • Whelp I was that mom today with a screaming child while at Target.  I go back to work tomorrow and DD needed more pull-ups and we needed a few other household items.  We put our masks on and in we went.  She started acting like she’s never been out in public.  Snatching stuff as we walked by racks of clothes.   Refusing to stay in her seat.  So I’d had enough and put her in a timeout (made her stand facing an end cap that had nothing in it). Of course she was crying and and asking for daddy. A couple men walked by and rolled their eyes.   But one lady was like good for you momma.   Teaching her!
  • @amapa20 it was gross, but also cool to see. I sent a video to my family who all live in different states 😂
  • @anitamargarita_82 DD has at least one tantrum/major episode of not listening/meltdown every time we walk around the neighborhood. It usually ends with me fireman carrying her back to the house. I can only imagine what all the neighbors think, but we've been working on listening and how we only get to do fun things if we listen. Good work with your daughter! It's embarrassing but necessary.
  • @kalesix3 are you clear with them about how long maternity leave you plan to take? I assume you plan to bring the new baby along with you once you would return? I understand families wanting stability but that is really hard timing for you. It might be easier once you are actually closer to your due date since you could just plan on starting once you are back from maternity leave instead of starting and then taking time off so soon after. I hope you are able to find something soon. Hang in there! ❤️
  • @carrotsandpeas3 I frequently have to do the same thing with mine on walks as well.  Ugh it’s rough to say the least when they act up and it’s always in the worst possible place or wrong time.   And to top the day off I discovered she’d shoved a small rubber band up her nose so my husband had to hold her down and use tweezers to get it out.   She’s been sneezing a lot the last couple of days and now I know why 😱. Three year olds are the best 😆
  • @kalesix3
I'm sorry, it sucks. As women we go through so many hoops, it's crazy! we are done after this baby and I am so happy I can concentrate on doing what I want moving forward instead of planning career steps based on possible maternity leave. I am sorry you're going through it, I would think there would be some pregnant mamas now looking for a nanny for next year, so maybe not all is lost <3

I think I mentioned to you guys a while ago that I had a medical concern I needed to get taken a look at, well, I was stressing out so I finally did...basically it was an almond-size bump on my armpit, like right were you shave. Literally popped out of nowhere 5 weeks ago. Being a hypochondriac, I got nervous about it despite H dismissing it as a pimple (definitely NOT a pimple). My GP, who I honestly think is not very knowledgeable, gave me a tele-heath appointment (not so useful when looking at a lump). She basically was like oh it's probably nothing, what are your thoughts?? I am like well, my thoughts are I AM NOT A DOCTOR! So she sent me for an ultrasound just to make sure and I went today. Really happy I went to a breast center that is very well-known here so I felt like I was going to get some answers. The tech said well, you're pregnant so it's probably EXCESSIVE BREAST TISSUE. Like...WHAT? Well sure enough, she takes literally 3 minutes to take the ultrasound, tells me to wait for the doctor. Doctor comes, re-runs the ultrasound and BOOM. Excessive breast tissue. Had no idea is was even a thing. He said oh given you're pregnant, that's usually the first thing we consider. PHEW GUYS! I am so relieved. Am I crazy to think that my GP could have known this? At least she could have listed as a possibility? Here I was going to dark places...well...apparently it's just part of my boob growing in my armpit lol. Pregnancy is weird. I am really bummed I didn't mention it to my OB last time but it had only been a couple of weeks and Iw as still observing it...I am sure she would have at least mentioned it as a strong possibility.

On another note, looks like I met my deductible! The anatomy scan was only $65. Last pregnancy I had to go to a high risk place due to marginal cord insertion and since we had not met the deductible, the bill was almost $500!!!!

  • @anitamargarita_82
sorry about the Target tantrum. We are definitely in tantrum land with my almost 2-year old over here...
  • @morethanamama thank goodness it’s not something serious.   I saw an article the other day about a woman who’d gotten clogged milk ducts up in her armpit because she had breast tissue up there.   I had no idea that was possible.  Our bodies do some crazy things when we’re pregnant that’s for sure!

Solidarity to all you moms out there battling toddler tantrums and attitudes. Some days I feel like it’s the Hunger Games at my house and my toddler is winning.
  • @morethanamama so glad they figured it out! Honestly, who knows about your GP. I think it would be really hard to assess something like that over telehealth, so maybe he/she just didn't think of it or want to dismiss it as that too quickly. So glad they were able to solve the mystery so quickly though! DH is a radiologist (and does a lot of breast imaging), and I still would have probably been freaking out about all the possibilities even if he did mention that as one of them until I got the ultrasound to check it. So basically I think the route you went was totally reasonable!

    @anitamargarita_82

  • @carrotsandpeas3 they usually don't listen past the pregnancy part, of course I wish they would so I could discuss a few weeks off and return to work with baby, that has always been my plan. But typically we go over schedule and availability first and that's where I mention that I'm due in October and then I get the "well we wanted a longer commitment" door slammed in my face after I've made it clear I will return to work afterwards.
Maybe I'm going about it all wrong, to make it worse a lot of parents absolutely won't even entertain the idea of bringing a baby to their house to nanny, I suppose I understand how they feel their child will take second priority, but it just sucks to not be given a chance. It will get easier to schedule and plan for postpartum, obviously but I don't want to do nothing during my pregnancy either, coronavirus budget cuts hit us and we're not doing great on one reduced income 😩

@morethanamama that would have scared me so badly, I'm glad you have an answer now!
  • edited June 2020
@morethanamama glad it wasn't something more serious. If you're ready to laugh about it, there's an episode of the show I'm Sorry (trutv or Netflix) where the main character has her "armtits" removed. (I recommend the entire series if need a laugh about anything)
  • @peanutorcookie omg, I knew I had heard about that somewhere, I'm so glad you mentioned it because it was definitely from I'm Sorry. Love that show!

  • Ugh last night was my worst night of sleep EVER. I’m pretty sure I’ve been awake since 1:30. For some reason even with my C shaped pregnancy pillow my back still aches at night and I can’t get the right position. And then it started thunderstorming right when I was actually about to fall asleep 😩
  • Anyone else's linea nigra here yet? I just noticed last night that mine is starting to show up! I didn't remember when I got it with DD.

  • @MJDsquared mine lasted a long time last time, over a year! Not showing up yet this time but I don't think I had it until 25-28 weeks?
  • @morethanamama Mine lasted so long too! I don't remember when it finally went away though. I was surprised by that at the time.

  • @MJDsquared I didn't get one with DS and I haven't seen a sign of one yet. I'm not sure if that's something that can vary by pregnancy. New research topic for me lol
  • @MJDsquared mine started showing up a few days ago, or at least I noticed it when I started staring at my belly because I realized I could see baby's kicks. It's pretty faint and only below my belly button.
  • I never got it with either of my other pregnancies.
  • I have a totally random question! If you weren't planning on nursing, would you still wear a piece of maternity clothing that is for nursing? I don't mean like a nursing tank that has clips, but more like a dress or top that has a nursing layer.

I am styling some maternity clients today and my wheels are spinning!
  • @themoonandme I would. I have several cute maternity t-shirts that are more of the "panel" rather than the clip style, so they are not obviously nursing. I even wore one from amazon yesterday and the ultrasound tech complimented it. So I'd say go for it! Also, I have some maternity dresses that fit me well while not pregnant too and you would absolutely not be able to tell that they are technically maternity.
