I figured we might as well open a new weekly random 😊

My 7 year old spent the entire day vomiting/sleeping yesterday. He wanted to snuggle. That was not happening. We compromised and he snuggled in his room with one of the dogs.

    I recently moved into my moms house and I hate her shower. I haven't had the energy to work out (and still don't) but I am going to the gym today just to take a nice shower. My back is killing me and I plan to sit (which I never do) and just let the warm water hit my back for a good 20 minutes. 

    My husband took off today because he didn't finish the dishes last night.  Seriously. I love having him home, but I want him to take a solid break when the baby comes.

    Sorry I'm late today! End of one quarter/beginning of the next is always hectic for me and I really just need to focus on work a bit more.

    So sorry everyone's not feeling well! 

    @kittenslove sitting in the gym shower sounds suuuuuper questionable lol.... I don't even want to think about how gross the floor could be.

    @modoodles cuuuute! You look great! I bet your pics turn out well!

    Girl, I feel you so much on the weight gain. I think it's a huge part of my issue. We took zero pics b/c we're idiots :D but I got these pants and wore it with some black pumps and a black maternity shirt that has lace-like detail on the sleeves (from my last pregnancy). My only qualm with the outfit was that both the shirt and pants were fitted.

    I made my spouse take photos of me in all the outfits I took for Christmas b/c I feared the photos.

    @modoodles ooooh! So fun! We did that same cruise (plus we went to Progresso) when I was younger and Costa Maya and Cozumel were my favorite of the 3 stops! So pretty!

    @blaf322 I went to cozumel and progresso in April last year and I loved Cozumel but was pretty 'meh' on going back to progresso. I have a couple of cousins wanting to do another girls trip cruise in March next year. I don't know.. I may see if a couple of girlfriends want to go. And tell my DH closer to time 😂

    DS also vomited last night...but thats a pretty normal occurrence for him, especially when he is sick/coughing. DH got the first big one, I was in there for the 2nd time around. 

    I brought my workout clothes to work today...but the day was a day and working out didn't happen. I'm hoping I can stay motivated tonight and maybe get a slight workout in at home or first thing tomorrow morning. I try to reserve at least 1 day to work from home each week and not travel and this week that is tomorrow...so hopefully I can make myself get to the gym.

    @blaf322 way to go hubby. They have to really hit it out of the park every now and then so that we don’t murder them while they sleep. 
    @modoodles we are booking a June 2021 cruise! I graduate with my doctorate in May and baby will be almost a year so we are making it a big family cruise with all the grandparents and cousins. Also those pictures are adorable

    My gym has super nice shower suites - its a changing room, with a full bathroom behind it. And they are super nice/clean. I shower whenever I work out cause, well its time I can blow dry my hair while someone else watches the kids, lol. I usually don't sit because I just can't get into that, and I found I couldn't bring myself to do it today either. But I assume people use the seats for more than their shampoo&conditioner.

    EDIT - I wouldn't sit on the floor. They have these built-in benches you can sit on while you shower. I actually ended up not using it cause I kept thinking of naked butts on it, but I find it hilarious anyone would think I meant the floor, lol.

    @blaf322 I feel your pain about clothes...nothing looks/feels good to wear besides sweatpants right now! I used to get StitchFix deliveries from time to time and got a few items that I loved from there. I signed back up because now they have a maternity clothing option. Hopefully I get something I feel halfway decent in!

    @modoodles I was just reminding H that babies only need to be 6 mo to go on a cruise. Hoping to also plan one for early 2021! And your announcement is super cute!

    We had a nasty bout of gastro in our house over the weekend. I would not wish that illness on anyone, Sunday night I slept on the bathroom floor. Thankfully it passed rather quickly (in hindsight, in the moment I thought I was going to die). 

    I'm jealous of people planning trips! There are no trips in my future and I wanna goooo.

    A question that I feel like makes more sense here than the great question thread - 

    H and I are traveling to his family's place in LA for Passover in April. I'll be right at 6 months preggo by then and am thinking of splurging and "buying" (with points I have) first class tickets for the way there. We'll be coming from Philly so it's a haul. On the way back it would probably be too many points to do so but I feel like, I'll be quite round and want a comfy seat. Should I do this? Should I just buy normal and try/wait to upgrade? Also, H I'm sure would love to be included but doesn't necessarily have to sit by me (he was cool with this option when I mentioned it). Also a possibility, should I buy his ticket first class and then do a belly rub and smile and try and get upgraded and if that doesn't work just swap with him? Would love input!

    @pocketrose I would absolutely never spend money or points on first class seats, so that would be a no for me... I just don’t feel like it’s worth it! I know you’re talking points and not money, but I’d rather schedule a massage or something once I’m there to get a really relaxing experience, rather than making flying slightly less uncomfortable.

    And happy to see ladies celebrating the Jewish holidays - we are not Jewish, but my kids go to a Jewish daycare so we do all the Jewish activities so they don’t feel left out. And because I actually enjoy them!

    @pocketrose I will be 21 weeks when flying to Nashville(from the west coast), I don't think I would pay for the upgrade, but only because I find all airplane seats uncomfortable and the little bit of extra room isn't too big of a thing for me. I will be choosing an isle seat, so I can get up and walk frequently which I think will be more comfortable for me. If I had points for H and I to both do it then maybe I would. But I'm a cheapo and strictly try to pay as little as I can  :D

    @pocketrose I would absolutely do it. You probably won't be THAT big, but as an east coaster who understands how shitty that flight is, I say it's worth it. Re hoping to upgrade at time of or rub your belly to get upgraded for free, I doubt that works. First class always seems to be full on those longer flights, from my experience. Also, if you can get first class on the way back instead of there, I'd do that. The flight back is always a pain b/c you're tired from not being at home and then you lose so many hours between time change and the flight itself.

    @hbird0723 do you know what you're a carrier for? If it's something 23 and Me tests for, it may be less expensive to use that to test him. I'm not sure if it's like this for everyone, but for my dad to get genetic testing for a disease we know he has (just needed to know which variation of the disease) it cost us somewhere around $20k because insurance didn't cover anything.

    Call me superstitious or a “conspiracy theorist” (even though I’m not 😂) the genetic tests like 23 and me freak me out. A doc I was working with awhile back was saying some of those companies can sell your DNA/ info to whoever they want too, to use it however they want. I haven’t checked up on this. But for some people the benefits def outweigh any potential risks.

    @bluguitarhannah Yep we're Jewish! H's mom runs a synagogue and is more religious than us so we'll have 2 seders, she won't drive until Sunday (for holidays and Shabbat), and she's resistant to rice and beans over the holiday EVEN THOUGH it's been permitted by the Conservative Jewish moment. I may sneak some rice in though, I feel like I'll need the carbs.

    @Pascal86 H and I have good friends who are Catholic who send their kiddo to Jewish preschool and apparently he loves the Shabbat and Hebrew songs lol. Also, I hear ya, I just flew back from Vegas in a middle seat on Spirit and am normally a v. cheapo flier.

    @blaf322 I wish I could do the flight home but we'll be flying on Saturday or Sunday and already the first class points are out of our price range. Coach is 6k of points which I've NEVER seen so cheap for cross country flight and like 16k for first (normally I "pay" 12.5k so not a huge difference).  Will discuss with H tonight.

    Also @nursejenn5, H agree re conspiracy of DNA tests, I want him to do it because he is a sperm donor baby (his dad had cancer as a kid and no sperm because of it/chemo) and I feel like it could help us maybe learn more about his medical info but he's very averse. Oh well.

    Thank you all! @stlbuckeye132 that is good to know! I definitely have some fears with all girls lol

    @blaf322 they said that they would test him for free there. I guess it’s just something they offer. This one would just be a swab for him. I guess I am a carrier for spinal muscular atrophy. I’m trying not to look into it too much because it already sounds scary but I honestly am not stressed like I thought I would be.

    @hbird0723 that's awesome that they'll test him for free! And, I'll tell you because I just googled, it says its considered "very rare" so my thoughts are that the chances of both of you being carriers is slim to none and baby girl will be just fine. That said, I'd want the reassurance that comes with that test as well. Keep us posted on his results!

    @hbird0723 I mean, you may want to put some group rules in place for teenage years about sharing clothes, but other than that, I don't think we really had major fights in our house!

    My random is my work friend just told me she's pregnant too! Due July 28, so just a couple weeks behind me. She was about 7 weeks behind me with our first pregnancies, so I'm excited to be pregnant at the same time again and even closer now!

    @hbird0723 With our first daughter, we found out I'm a carrier for a rare disorder. We did the Counsyl test, and mainly opted for it because I'm adopted so my medical history is fairly vague. Because I was a carrier, we had MH tested too, and his test was then also covered by insurance. Turns out he's also a carrier.

    Definitely worth knowing about just in case, and so your kids have a better idea if they're carriers also. They wouldn't know for sure without being tested, of course.
