  • @chichiphin I'm sorry you're stuck commuting all five days this week!  That sucks!  How far away is work from home?
  • Loading the player...
  • @Malidocious its only 45 min door to door usually. and 25 min is on a train... so it isn't bad actually haha i'm just already over "commuter outfits" and slogging my backpack around

  • @chichiphin I think that's a relatively long commute, so I feel your pain!!  When I bought my house a few years ago, I wanted to make sure it was as close to work as possible (which ended up being irrelevant because I left that job shortly after, lol).  But I feel like anything over 15-20 minutes is a long way.  :D

  • YAY for a great anatomy scan!!  That's wonderful news!  :)

@kantobean I'm totally that person at conferences who keeps to myself unless I'm there with colleagues. Do you have to share a hotel room? That's the worst.

    @chichiphin YAY! Congrats on a great a/s!

  • @kantobean Yay for a 3-day week, but boo to being surrounded by people.  I'm an introvert, too, and I tend to shy away and keep to myself during conferences and/or work events (unless I'm with colleagues, like @stassischroeder said).  I sure hope you don't have to share a hotel room!  When I traveled to LA for a big conference a few months ago, I had to share a room with one of my coworkers for one night and it was brutal, even just for one night.  I'm so antisocial, lol.

@kagesstarshroom Oh that sounds so frustrating!!!  I'm sorry he's being so touchy about it, but I would be handling the situation the same way as you.  Communicating on an as-needed basis for the time being, just to get the point across.  I hope he does whatever it is you need him to do so you can get back to feeling normal and not have your depression/rage triggered constantly. <3

  • I went to the mall for a super quick trip this morning to fix H’s computer, and stopped in Victoria’s Secret to get Love Spell perfume because I have been *craving* the scent for weeks now. Is that weird? To crave a scent? Lol. Anyways it happened to be on sale for $6 so that was a win!! I also got some super cute fall/winter clothes on clearance at Nordstrom for DS!

  • Re: the Glucose test. I was looking it up online, and found out that one of the popular ingredients within it is a trigger to my IBS-D. So I called the nurse and was like, "I am thinking when I come in for this test, it's not going to work bc my body will just...reject it." And she said there were a few different flavors, but she is pretty sure the ingredients I listed as triggers are in, like, all of them. I am... slightly annoyed that she wasn't like, "I'm glad you called, we'll talk to the doc and come up with a solution between now and then" and instead was like, "well just don't drink it when you come in, and you'll probably have to do blood sugar tests at home." But at least I won't feel obligated to drink something I *know* will make me sick. Blah.
    Malidociousmiss.sallyAAAG13
  • @kagesstarshroom how rude of her!! good luck with the test and hopefully since it's not too much liquid you won't have a flare up.
    Malidocious
  • @miss.sally Yay for the good deal!!!  And I don't think it's necessarily weird to be craving a scent. Pregnancy is full of bizarre things, lol!  It wouldn't surprise me if sensory stuff (beyond the usual super-human scent-detector one) was a symptom!

@kagesstarshroom It's so good that you looked that up ahead of time and noticed the ingredient!  That's super annoying how unhelpful that nurse was, though.  The least she could have done was say she would note it in your chart and go talk to your doctor about it so she can get back to you BEFORE your appointment (just so you all would be on the same page about it when you showed up for the appointment).  Ugh.  Regardless, I hope your appointment goes smoothly!  Good luck!

  • @kagesstarshroom I’m sorry the drink has an ingredient that will make stuff hard for you. I’ve heard of people just testing their glucose at home fasting and after meals for a week or so. I’ve just done the drink but we had to test DS’s glucose at home and it was super easy. The dr ordered the meter and strips for us and it was just a finger prick and tiny bit of blood that was needed. Insurance covered almost all of it so I think we paid less than $20. It won’t be bad at all for an adult, DS hated it but he was only 1.5 at the time so he just didn’t understand.

  • @kagesstarshroom, ask your OB’s office if you can sub jelly beans? It’s a popular alternative to the glucola in super crunchy books and blogs. There’s actually been some scientific papers on subbing jelly beans that show it is equally good and has fewer side effects than the drink. I think it’s like 30 beans to get the equivalent. Not sure if the beans have similar triggering ingredients though, but could be something to explore!

  • @kantobean I’m going to a conference this week too! I’m going Tue-Thur so I will be back in the classroom on Friday. I’m looking forward to it as well. The late Thanksgiving break this year is rough and the kids are wild. Ready for that time off!

  • @pdx2020 I shall ask the ob at the appointment! Thanks! I can have jellybeans, as far as I know. I wonder if they are hard to get though in November haha...

@varimama I have like garbage insurance, but I hope that if what you had to do with DS is similar to what I have to do it covers it. I imagine I'd be a better sport than a 1.5 y/o haha.

@lemonlove86 Oh, there is no way I'm drinking that thing if it has the ingredients I know trigger me, haha. They are going to have to come up with an alternative.

@Malidocious Right? It just would have been nice if the nurse would have let me know something could be planned in advance as an alternative rather than like, figured out when I get there, considering I was calling in advance. Now I have to tell the story all over again, it seems, when I arrive to the appointment--which isn't until December! I was super on top of things! They have plenty of time to come up with something new--or they can just figure it out day of, sure, if that's what they want.

More complaints: Tonight's the last session of the pre-natal yoga series I signed up for. Wahh, I don't want it to be over!

  • @kagesstarshroom this blog post just popped up on my Pinterest page. I don’t know anything about the author so you might want to research it but she lists a lot of alternatives to the orange glucose drink so maybe one will work for you! https://www.kitchenstewardship.com/guess-how-many-times-this-pregnant-mama-has-consumed-that-orange-glucose-test-drink/

  • @EmilyLove25 yay for a new car!! We are researching cars also and I keep going back to mini vans, but I’m also hardcore against being a mini van mom. I don’t even know why?! Haha. I used to be really into cars (designing them), so maybe that’s why. I can’t get over their looks. 😂 I definitely want a car with second row captains chairs though, so my list of SUVs has narrowed a lot. Here’s hoping H and I can agree on something.

@mrsvp614 my DS also thinks he has a baby in his belly. And H. And his big sister. Lol! So silly and cute.

AFM, I’m just over here swollen like a balloon. I have literal rolls in my ankles. And I barely sat down today, so I don’t know what’s up. I probably need to change my diet a LOT. I’ve definitely been indulging in all things. Also H found two mice in his car this morning when he left for work. He parks in the garage so... That’s fun. We live in a very suburban area and have never had pest/rodent issues so I’m not sure what happened this time. His car is super clean also. As long as they don’t get in the house. Luckily we have terminix so they’ll be here Wednesday morning. I got two traps in the meantime and I’ll set them in the garage tonight.

  • Really over these bladder kicks.

Ughhhh how many more weeks of pregnancy? 😂
    miss.sallystacey6689MalidociousEmilyLove25
  • @miss.sally I can't believe I am saying this, but I think the Odyssey looks like a cool car hahaha. I'm weird. Also I hate the swelling for you. That can obviously be a sign of pre-e but also just a normal side effect of being pregnant. How has your heart rate been lately? Any better?

  • @EmilyLove25 I lol’d at the odyssey looking like a cool car. 😂😂. I mean everyone has different tastes. And seriously I had a mini van for a rental last year and it was the most convenient amazing thing ever. So, I do get it. I just don’t think I can get over it for myself. Who knows. Maybe I’ll cave once we start looking more 🤷🏼‍♀️

My HR has still been pretty all over the place. I still have a week left of wearing my monitor though. Thank goodness. I’m so over it. I did order some compression socks also and I hope that helps with swelling. I don’t think I’m getting ore-e, since my blood pressure is still way low. I took it last night and it was 105/60. Lol.
    silverhopeEmilyLove25Malidocious
  • @miss.sally After I posted asking about pre-e, I saw in another post that you had it with one of your last pregnancies, so obviously you know what you are doing! That one always scares me because you can go from completely fine to having it. I have never had visible swelling but did get carpel tunnel with my first so something must have been swollen haha. Sounds IRRITATING! And there are so many things that I start sensing and I'm like, "this seems too soon" hahaha.

  • @kagesstarshroom, just got a packet on gestational diabetes testing from my OBs office and it says: "If you do not want to drink the glucose, we may be able to offer a jelly bean test instead. This requires a specific type of jelly bean (the amount and type of sugar are important for the test's accuracy), so if you prefer this option, let us know in advance."

  • I need to vent. H’s new computer (few months old) has not been working properly and he isn’t even remotely tech savvy so I’ve been trying to figure it all out and I’m getting so dang frustrated. We paid like $2,500 for it (MacBook), and I feel like it should NOT be this way. We’ve already taken it to Apple once and they basically said there was nothing wrong with it so go home and try again. I may go back today but UGH this is taking up so much effing time and I don’t feel like dealing! Usually I’m great with computers and can get just about anything fixed but all the changed settings aren’t helping and I just Gahhhhhhh.
    MalidocioussilverhopeEmilyLove25
  • @miss.sally that's so frustrating! Maybe take the opportunity to unleash your inner bitch and lay the smack down! I usually feel that honey attracts more flies than vinegar and am super nice to customer service reps 99.9% of the time, but sometimes you have to impress upon them that you're not buying their bullsh!t. You paid a lot for this product, and it should be working properly.

  • @stacey6689, good luck on your glucose test.
    @miss.sally, ugh, that does suck.

so.... my house was crazy this morning.  a scab on the dog's ear opened up and he started bleeding, then he proceeded to shake his head and splatter blood all over the house as he wandered from room to room.   meanwhile, I was trying to work and answer emails, DS had a flashlight he wasn't supposed to have and he was running all over with it, and DD was frantically looking for a tape measure so she could measure the dimensions of our bathroom for a school project. not to mention my work is blowing up right now with all kinds of ridiculousness happening.  stressed out doesn't begin to cover it... lol.
    Malidociousmiss.sallystacey6689
  • @miss.sally I am convinced apple just wants you to upgrade to their newer models. Every time I get an apple product and they release a newer version mine starts acting up. It’s crazy. The apple store near me is always packed also so I have to prepare myself to spend a few hours waiting. It’s so frustrating.
    stassischroeder
  • @miss.sally You can call Apple care and develop a relationship with a specialist? I did that when my computer was super wonky and--they never figured it out BUT I did feel like they were taking my complaints seriously. (I finally discovered that my laptop just needed to be plugged in all the time or it would slow down dramatically.)

  • Dressing a bump with Fall/Winter clothes is way more expensive than summer stuff. I was due in August the last two times, and I wore a lot of non-maternity stuff like maxi dresses and skirts. I’ve already spent a lot of money on maternity clothes which I kind of hate since this is my last baby.
