This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.
Diagnosis (if you've been):
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
How are things going?:
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen?
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI #2 with Letrozole + trigger
How are things going?: noticing more side effects on this med (mostly emotional) than the Clomid
Any questions?: As I assuming correctly that the cysts on both ovaries might be causing my OPK to be blazingly positive on CD5? No EWCM. Called the RE and it has been over an hour so I’m going to miss morning monitoring.
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I’ve seen a few where there are an extra set of legs so it looks like the person is riding an animal or something
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@NYTino24 Boo to the emotional side effects of the Letrozole. I think that is the worst side effect of the drugs for me. I would rather bloat and be uncomfortable than cry because we ran out of milk. No help on the OPK front though. Hope the RE gets back to you.
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting for IVF
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF, Suprefact starts Friday!
How are things going?: The cold that was floating around finally caught up with me last week. Teaching double days at the gym definitely didn't help me out any so by Thursday afternoon I was dying. I spent the last three days on the sofa basically not moving. Rather have it happen now than in a few weeks from now though. Add some extra crank to all of that and things are just great.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? Not the funniest 'ever', but we had a crane fall onto a building through a hurricane this season. People have been dressing up as the building with the crane made out of lego hanging off of them. Very clever.
@nitnat007 Yay for starting on Friday!!! Hopefully it’s a successful cycle for you!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@NYTino24 Sorry for the emotional side effects, but hopefully that’s better than the other med’s side effects from last round? And YAY for IUI #2, hopefully this one goes great!
@nitnat007 Woohoo for IVF in just a few short days! So exciting! Sorry you were sick but yeah, so much better for it to happen now than later. Hope you’re feeling better!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO. OPKs aren’t even beginning to warm up despite it being CD12. Last cycle was extended by more than a week & it took my body awhile to realize what it should be doing, so I guess being late to ovulate shouldn’t be too surprising this time.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) hCG uterine infusion + IUI #4 + estradiol + progesterone + hCG shots every 3 days after IUI for 2 weeks. Something new, we shall see!
How are things going?: Very rough milestones recently. *TW: Loss*
This past week marked a year since finding out that our baby girl didn’t have a heartbeat on Oct 23 & delivering her on Oct 25 on her 18-week birthday. There was no reason for the loss, which was worse than having an answer. Both DH & I were very down this week, looking at the past year full of early losses following that most brutal one, & not understanding why my body has had this autoimmune response after that late loss.
*End TW*
SO THANKFUL that we have something to give us hope with this new IUI protocol to try. Otherwise I’d be losing it completely. Also extremely excited that my first appointment with the Reproductive Immunologist is FINALLY coming up at the end of this week!
Any questions?: Why have the Dailies been so quiet lately? Have we all dropped out of them temporarily/sporadically?
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? Brace yourselves: It was a guy dressed as a human tampon. His body was stuffed into a white cylinder with cutouts for his face & arms, and he had a string/cord hanging between his knees. The top of the cylinder where his hair would’ve been poking out had puffy cotton balls painted bright red. It was horrifying and hilarious.🤢😆
@NYTino24 I’m sorry you’re feeling these side effects from the meds. Letrozole is supposed to have lower side effects, from what I’ve read and been told. Hopefully they will ware off for you once you stop the pills.
@nitnat007 OMG Friday will be here before you know it!! I hope you are feeling better today.
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained IF
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): 7.5 of letrozole plus trigger and TODAY IS IUI DAY!!!
How are things going?: really good!! At my monitoring appointment on Saturday morning I had two large follies on my left side (23mm and 22mm) and my lining was 7.4. So I was ready to go! Did the trigger Saturday night and now I’m waiting for the sperm wash to be done so we can do IUI number 2!
I kind of like that I had two mature follies, although I know that increases the chance of multiples, but I like the thought of it giving me more than one chance for it to work, ya know?
I had some mild cramping on my left side yesterday and this morning so I’m thinking timing of the IUI will be spot on!
Last update, Charleston was AMAZING!!! Such a super quick trip but it was the perfect getaway in such a beautiful place!
Any questions?: nope
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I think dogs in costumes are hilarious!

@kpearse99 YAYAYAY for IUI#2! FX everything goes beautifully & hooray for 2 great-size follies! I’m glad you brought some sunshine & uplift to the thread, the rest of us have had it rough recently it seems.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole + IUI. Not sure if I will need the trigger shot.
How are things going?: OK. No side effects from the letrozole which I was really happy about. I took my last dose on Saturday night, so now we wait. I start going in for bloodwork on Halloween. Trick or treat, indeed! I also need to clue my boss in just a *tiny* bit about what's going on since I may need coverage for appointment and such. Going to keep it as vague as possible.
Any questions?: Nah.
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? Hmm...a friend of mine went all out once and dressed up like the woman who got attacked by birds in "The Birds".
@keikilove I kept up with reading the threads while I was away and I could tell it was a difficult time for most. My heart was with all of you, even though I wasn’t fully here. My heart is ALWAYS with all of you! ♥️♥️
@emeraldduchess I think it’s a good idea to let your boss know a little bit about what’s going on. Honestly, I feel like it can only help you out and take some stress off of you when it comes time for scheduling appointments. Glad you didn’t have side effects from the meds! Did the doctor say anything about the trigger shot? Or are they waiting for your first monitoring appointment?

@keikilove So many hugs to you! I personally have been doing the weekly check-ins and the “lighter” daily threads. @kpearse99 Yay for IUI #2 and good follicles! I can’t really even blame it on the meds, although I do feel physically and mentally “heavier” on them and notice less of an appetite (which AF also does for me). I’m just feeling beaten down by this whole process. @emeraldduchess Glad you’re on your way and hope your boss is cool about it.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@emeraldduchess - Telling my 2 bosses what is going on has taken some of the weight off my shoulders for sure! I asked my doctor for the trigger shot for my second IUI to be sure that it was timed correctly.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): First IVF cycle
How are things going?: Good, I had my CD8 monitoring appointment this morning and the ultrasound tech counted 7 follicles on the left and 11 follicles on the right. The doctor was hoping to get 20 eggs, so 18 follicles right now is pretty good. I won't hear back from the nurses until after 2:00 this afternoon, but the tech guessed that I'd be back for ultrasounds again tomorrow and Wednesday.
Any questions?: Nope. I had a bit of blood in the syringe this morning after I gave myself the Cetrotide injection, but the nurse assured me that that's okay and I'm not doing anything wrong. Yesterday morning I didn't take it out of the fridge early enough and it burned so bad! Much better today though.
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen?
IUI #2 is done!! DH’s numbers were less than last time but still excellent at 20 million and 80% motility! Betas on 11/11! So now we just wait... again!
The RE said something on his way out about how “you’re pregnant until you’re told that you’re not” and I liked that a lot. So for the next two weeks I will be treating myself like I am. I think it will be good to keep my mind in the right space and to remain positive about this one being the one. 🤞🏼♥️

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Meeting with the RU next Monday to discuss plans
How are things going?: Ok, I'm surviving this round of holiday stuff. I'm feeling a little adrift as I'm in this weird in-between state of testing being complete but no follow-up meeting yet to discuss treatment options.
It's helpful that I have my work Halloween decoration competition coming up, gives me something to throw myself into.
Any questions?: I might be BSC (and please tell me if I am) but I'm wondering if I should call the nurse line and mention that I'm seeing spotting pretty early in my LP of my cycle. There's no chance of being KU this cycle, but we do still have a tiny chance of getting KU naturally and I don't want to mess it up if it were to happen. Thoughts?
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I ran a 5k last year following two people running in the big blow-up t-rex costumes, that was pretty darn entertaining.

@NYTino24 Sorry you are noticing more emotional side effects. Hope they go away soon! Not sure about the positive OPK, but I hope your RE gets back to you soon!
@nitnat007 So exciting that things are moving along for you. Sorry you caught the cold.. I’m just getting over it too. That’s a very creative costume idea!
@keikilove So sorry you are struggling right now. Sending you hugs. I’m so hopeful for you with your new IUI protocol and immunologist appointment coming up. I couldn’t keep up with the dailies right now, things are just too crazy. And TBH, I was finding it a bit triggering when people on month 2 or 3 would post about how frustrated they are that they haven’t gotten KU yet.
@kpearse99 Today is your day!! Yes! Rooting so hard for you! I’m so glad you had a great trip, sounds like just what you needed before your IUI! Your H’s numbers are amazing! I also love your positive mindset, what a good way to look at it.
@emeraldduchess Glad you didn’t have side effects from the letrozole! Makes me feel better about starting it next month. GL with your bloodwork this week. Are you going for an U/S soon? Hope things go well with telling your boss!
@feather_heather 18 is a great number!! Glad things are going good for you right now!
@mvt2003 I’m in the same limbo as you are.. the waiting is so hard. Hopefully everything goes well with your meeting on Monday and you are able to make a plan! If there’s no chance of being KU this cycle, I’d probably wait until you meet with the RE next week to discuss it. LOL how do you even run in a costume like that? So funny
Diagnosis (if you've been): MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Going for HSG on Friday! After that, all our testing will be complete and it’s back to waiting. We won’t meet with the RE again until Nov. 18th.
How are things going?: I’m still using this time to get myself mentally and physically prepared for whatever is ahead. I think I’m in a pretty good place at the moment.. I have been keeping busy with doing things I enjoy and meditating every day. Unfortunately I’ve been sick with a bad cold/laryngitis for the last week, but I’m starting to feel better now.
Any questions?: Did you ladies tell your family/friends about IF and if so, do you regret sharing it? I’ve only told my best friend and mom so far.. my counselor thought it might be helpful to get more support from close friends/family (especially if we move forward with IVF). I’m just nervous for unwanted advice and potentially hurtful comments
GTKY: I love the creative ones that people make themselves. 2 of my friends dressed up as popcorn last year, and they spray painted crumpled up paper to make the popcorn. It was so cute!
*Edited because I forgot the GTKY

@NYTino24 Side effects bite! It will all be worth it. Fx for you!
Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IVF - Gonal-F, Menopur, Antibiotics and Baby Aspirin
How are things going?: Good. Injections weren't too bad once I got over the anxiety of doing something wrong. The bubbles in the syringe drive me crazy! Go in for another check up on Wednesday. Excitement is growing. Stay tuned
Any questions?: N/A
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? Sailor Freddie Mercury. I recommend googling it.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole + trigger + IUI
How are things going?: starting to get the holiday blues which is scaring me with how early it is. My bff and I were trying to coordinate something Thursday (I totally forgot it was Halloween) *TW* and she kept bringing up the trick or treating schedule she wants to do with her baby and in my head I was like oh yeah some people have to think about that huh.... immediately got sad *end TW*
I’m not feeling hopeful about the IUI last week (sorry I never updated- i had 3 follies and DH’s numbers were a tiny bit higher than the first one) so i’m kind of just moping along. I really hope I’m ku by Christmas (wishful thinking) because otherwise I don’t know how I’m going to put on a happy face this year. *TW* Just found out DH’s step cousin is KU and I remember like 1.5 years ago she made a comment to me like lol you and I aren’t ready for babies yet are we?!! Little did she know we had already been trying 6 months.
Any questions?: not really
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I agree with dog costumes. I can’t think of one particular human costume but I love this video of a dog dressed as a football player and running (not sure if anyone else knows what I’m talking about but it cracks me up every time)
@misshelen86 You seem to be in a pretty good head space too! I love that you are taking this time to focus on yourself and do all the things you feel like you need to do. To answer your question, I initially didn't tell anyone after our first loss last year. And then a few months went by and I thought it was crazy that I was making myself go through it alone, basically. So I told my mom and then a few close friends. My best friends check in often and they know that we moved forward with testing and then with the IUI's and I told my mom as well. My mom doesn't really understand all of this or know what to say all the time because she never had any trouble getting KU, but she listens and it's helpful. Telling my closest friends has been a savior, especially since some of them have gone through this too. I also feel like it can only help to have extra positive thoughts and prayers from those closest to you, ya know? Sharing all of this with them, and having you all too, has been the light in all of these dark times.
@mvt2003 I agree and would just wait for my appointment on Monday to mention anything about the spotting. I don't think you need to place a separate call, but I would totally mention it at my next appointment. That being said though, if it would give you peace of mind, then call them or email them! It can only help
@meri-mac you should be getting excited!! I'm getting excited for you
@b_1029 you just have a gut feeling or something? Having 3 follies is amazing for an IUI, and if YH numbers are higher than last time, that's great news too!

@NYTino24 hmmm no idea on the cysts. Hopefully everything is ok. Sorry
you had to miss monitoring, that’s frustrating. I hate the emotional side
effects of these meds – as if we weren’t already emotional enough with this
whole thing.
@nitnat007 ah so excited you’re getting started this week! Yay! I’m
sorry to hear you’ve been sick but you’re right, better now than later! Hope
you get back to 100% soon! That’s pretty funny about the crane costume
@keikilove sorry I never fully caught up on last week’s thread,
what’s the addition to your protocol this cycle? Very excited you’re trying
something new and I hope it’s successful! So sorry for that tough milestone. Sending
you virtual hugs also OMG the human tampon. Hilarious but kinda creepy. As
far as the dailies…I have found I just can’t participate in them anymore. Something
about all the hopefulness of those not going through IF when I have none, I hate
writing my # of cycles/months, and i can’t keep up. I can barely keep up with
this thread anymore!
@kpearse99 ahh so glad to hear about your follies and that the IUI
went well! Keeping everything crossed for you, my friend! I love Charleston and
I’m glad you guys had fun! Also… MH’s were 20 million this time too, which is
obviously a sign that we’re both getting KU and moving to July. To answer your question - no, there's nothing to indicate this IUI will fail, I'm just being a negative Nancy. I didn't have any O pain and last cycle I felt like my ovary was splitting in half right after the IUI so I'm just nervous I O'd early/overnight before the IUI and we totally missed it. I did have follies on both sides this time so that's the one part I'm hopeful for, if the sperm got lost at least either way would end up at an egg lol
@emeraldduchess yay for no
side effects, that’s always a plus. I hope everything goes well on Thursday. Good
luck talking to your boss, hope they’re understanding!
@feather_heather wow it sounds like you’re responding really well so
far! Hope things continue to progress beautifully!
@mvt2003 what are you gonna do for the competition? That sounds
fun and definitely a fun way to get your mind off things. Sorry you’re in
limbo, it’s never a fun place to be. You might as well mention the spotting –
if anything, it’ll be on your record for the future? Idk. Is that normal for
you?
@misshelen86 I didn’t really have side effects from letrozole either
(other than TMI – a ton of CM the first month) so I hope you won’t either! I hope
your HSG comes back normal on Friday and that the procedure goes well. The waiting
is the worst part, is there anything going on between now and the 18th
to distract you? As far as your Q – I think I had shared with a few close
friends (and mom) that we were TTC after the first few months so then it just naturally rolled
over into IF. As time has gone on I have shared with more people to include my
boss (not the nitty gritty details, just like hey this is why I’m so
unproductive and depressed and need all these random 2 hour chunks out of
office). I did post during NIAW this year on social media so now we're "out" so to speak. I’m someone who has to talk to people about things and not everyone is
like that, but I will say I have gotten a ton of stupid advice. At this point
it mostly rolls off my back but initially that was really hard to take since it
seems like people are implying it’s something you’re doing wrong (I know that's not their intention, people just don't know what to say, but when you're already down and blaming yourself for something imaginary it's easy to fall into the trap)
@b_1029 If it makes you feel any better I had zero O pain or cramping last cycle and my IUI worked (It just didn't stick, which is not IUI related). But I had the same worrisome thoughts you are having now about the timing. This time I have what you are describing though, probably because I had 2 large follies on the same side. But I'm pretty uncomfortable after the IUI this time around. And you are 100% right - this is going to be IT for both of us, my friend!! It's totally a sign And I will be hopeful and positive for the both of us

My RE told us to have sex tonight, which I knew about, and that after tonight it didn't matter because the eggs would be done. Damn him for saying that because I really wanted to go for a +1 too but I don't think DH will go for it now I jokingly said to him, while I was laying tilted on the table, that we are still going to get it on tomorrow night and he smiled and shook his head at me saying "You really don't like to listen to the doctor, do you?!" So now the challenge is on to see if I can get my way tomorrow night too hahaha
What are your thoughts on the +1?

@kpearse99 I do it but I’m not sure if there’s a point to it or not. I guess since the egg could possibly still be alive for 24 hours? That would mean it would have to be in the morning though.
I almost laughed at my RE after the first IUI because she was like, “ok so you should have sex again tonight so your body understands what you’re trying to do”...I’m like, after this long it doesn’t already know?!!
@b_1029 that's hilarious!!! Our bodies must have been neglecting us this whole time then!! And yes, my RE said the eggs would be dead after tonight, so I guess the +1 really doesn't matter other than to calm my crazy!

@b_1029 It's a big secret, but we're turning our section of the office into a "spooky" convenience store (our company owns a c-store brand). We all take this competition VERY seriously haha. So no decorating starts until 6pm on 10/30 in the interest of trying to keep it all as secret as possible. Last year another group did a murder mystery and the entire office had to vote on who killed the victim.

@keikilove Thinking of you this week friend. What you are going through would not be easy on anyone. Having a plan that you are working on now and feeling positive about it, is a great distraction. Sending you hugs
@kpearse99 Yay for awesome timing! And a great trip. Everything crossed for you.
@emeraldduchess Trick or treat is right! But hoping that it is treats all the way for yo.
@feather_heather 18 follies is awesome! I found that my first few appointment there was almost nothing and then suddenly some appeared. Maybe there are still some hiding out too! Positive thinking. You got this.
@mvt2003 Decoration competition? Tell us more. I think we will need pictures of you creation. A friend of mine did a bodypump class in one of those costumes, it was hilarious. Hot as anything in there though I bet.
@misshelen86 I have told a few people in my life about IVF. Initially I was very reluctant to share, but now that I have, I feel good about it. We don't mention it all the time, but when I am having a hard day, it is good that a few friends know what it is going on. Sending you hugs.
@b_1029 Oh friend, this time of year has so many triggers. Everywhere we turn, they are there. Be kind to yourself, only do the things that make you feel good. It is ok to say no to people too. Also, don't give up hope. There is always a chance. FX!
@NYTino24 so sorry you're having those side effects on the letrozole! Hope you get an answer from your RE. I'm not sure what a cyst can do to results of OPKs.
@nitnat007 hope you get over your cold soon so it doesn't mess with the IVF! I remember DH getting sick a week or so before our FET and I was so hoping to not catch it being so close to our FET. Thankfully I didn't get it, phew! Good luck!
@keikilove so sorry it's a tough time for you this week but yay for the reproductive immunologist!
@kpearse99 hope this IUI is the one! Get that +1 if you want it! No reason to say no to that 😉
@emeraldduchess hope time flies for your IUI date! I mean, it is only a few days until the first US to monitor your follicle growth right??
@mvt2003 I don't think it could hurt to ask to get their opinion on your spotting. Maybe they can ease your concern.
@misshelen86 that choice is up to you. I didn't tell anyone about our struggles but 2 friends. And one of those I haven't talked to since before we really got started. Any other family and friends that know do know from my post back in April for IF awareness week.
@meri-mac I know the really small bubbles don't matter but they drove me crazy too! I saw the sailor Freddy mercury on FB the other day - hilarious!
@b_1029 I hope you're proven wrong and get KU this cycle! Depends on how you feel having a bump in the heat of summer 🥵😛 avoid what you can to keep yourself from being so triggered!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW - yes you read that right!!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): just WFAF to get the mock transfer cycle started
How are things going?: vacation was greeeeaaaat!! So fun. Would do again in a heartbeat. Definitely recommend both the Tennessee and Georgia Aquariums! 13 hours with a Tesla is such easy driving when it mostly drives itself. I got a nearly positive OPK Thursday morning before we left and then idiot me had to pee so bad when we got to the hotel room that I forgot to test again!! So idk if I caught the beginning or end of the surge. OPK was definitely negative again Friday morning. And the the temp jump happened Saturday morning! BDed every night of the trip so just maaaaybe it could happen.
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I like a good play on words. A coworker had a blue shirt on with a rubber chicken tied to an old phone cord draped around his neck - he was chicken cordon bleu 😆

@inthewoods23 I mean, it’s not like I actively seek out triggers just so I can whine on here lol. I’m so glad to hear your vacation went well and you seem to have o’d- FX! That’s hilarious about the Halloween costume! I love a good play on words.
@b_1029 I sure hope no one seeks out their triggers, and yet, sometimes I think I do that cuz I'm an idiot. I seem to have this weird habit of complaining about what other people do (like not having a freaking hospital bag packed a month before their due date) even though it has absolutely nothing to do with me. Why do I do this to myself?

Hi ladies! I did my newbie intro in the 10/21 thread. Jumping right in now!
@NYTino24 oh no! Sorry about the side effects of letrozole. Not sure about early positive OPKs; hope you get some answers from RE!
@nitnat007 feel better soon! Resting at home is a smart choice!
@keikilove This week must be so hard for you. Sending hugs
@kpearse99 “you’re pregnant until you’re told that you’re not” I love this saying! Great that this IUI went well! Fx for you
@emeraldduchess yay for no side effects of letrozole! I am also starting to think about how to tell my boss... I am working a very flexible job, but still wanted to let him know what I am going through, in case I need to miss a meeting or two for IUI etc.
@mvt2003 doesn't hurt to ask! I haven't had spotting during LP yet, but I had elongated period after my first SHG. I called my doctor 5 times until my spotting stopped
@misshelen86 feel better soon! Personally I wouldn't tell anyone except direct family members & my boss, but the choice is up to you. I hated that my husband was so confident that I will get KU once getting off BC. He told many of his friends even before we started trying that he is planning to have a baby. I don't know what to say...
@meri-mac Excited for you! I haven't even started IVF talks with RE yet, but I have watched a couple of videos of IVF injections. Sounds like the first couple of times is hard, but once people get a drill of it, it's not as daunting!
@b_1029 Sending hugs. I hope this IUI is the one for you! Fx so hard.
@inthewoods23 glad that you had a great vacation! Maybe it will happen this month?!
Diagnosis (if you've been): According to tests I have done at a fertility center in my home country: elevated prolactin, unconfirmed ovarian endometrioma, unconfirmed uterus polyps; unconfirmed low morph (3%)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): unmediated IUI
How are things going?: Anxiously waiting for a positive OPK. CD12 today & the test line starts to get a little darker! Hopefully IUI #1 with my OB.
Some background story: I had 3 cancelled medicated IUI cycles with my OB previously, one due to failure to detect a positive OPK, one due to cyst, the last due to the lab my OB works with closed early on Saturday (and closed on Sunday). My current health plan is horrible, so me and my husband will start going to see a local RE starting 2020. Until then, I am staying with my OB for a couple more (1 to 3) IUI.
*TW* the past weekend was very hard. DH brought me to a get together with his college friends. Guess what... one of his friend's wife was very pregnant. It hit me harder than I thought. I basically escaped from the party. *end TW*
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I love T-rex costumes; they always made me laugh hard.
@pom9207 Welcome, but also - I'm sorry you have found yourself in the IF thread. Sounds like you've had a crazy run so far, man! You said one IUI cancellation was due to OPK's not detecting a positive... was the doctor not monitoring you with blood work? This did happen to me on our first medicated cycle, my blood work never showed that I ovulated and my follies stopped getting bigger. Are you also being monitored with ultrasounds? or strictly following OPKs?

My current OB is not monitoring my blood work. She also refused to do follicle checks before my OPK detects a positive
I haven't visited any local RE because my current insurance plan is very poor. After my 3 cancelled IUI cycles, I flew back to my home country (in frustration) to see my family members' RE friend & did a testing/monitoring cycle there. The IF testing/treatment cost is about 1/10 to 1/4 in my home country, so it's totally worth it. Unfortunately, I was told that I needed to stay in my home country for at least 3 months for testing+IVF+FET, or at least 2 months for testing+IUI (they don't allow you to HIO right after HyCoSy or HSG). I flew back to the U.S. without an actual treatment
I have researched all local fertility center near me though. Once my 2020 insurance plan kicks in, I can see a specialist!
@pom9207 wow! You've been through some stuff then! I'm glad you did your research and that you can fully get started in 2020, which will be here before you know it!

@b_1029 friend, I feel you so hard. I don't want to be hopeless, but I am and it saps all the good feelings out of the holidays (or at least, holiday planning atm). I sincerely hope this IUI did the trick and you can celebrate the holidays with the cheer you deserve.
@meri-mac sailor Freddie Mercury is adorable. It's getting real for you lady! Glad all those injections are going well.
@misshelen86 so glad your head is in a great place. I'm sure your Nov appt will be here before you know it, October went so fast this year! I actually haven't told anybody about IF except my sister and two of my (very discrete) besties. I am not sure when I'll open up to more people, I'm sure I eventually will have to. I just can't face it quite yet.
@mvt2003 maybe you'll be the magical unicorn who gets KU right before her RE appt! I'll keep my Fx for you. And btw, I applaud whoever would wear a T-Rex costume for a 5k, that's dedication!
@feather_heather 18 follies seems great to me! Maybe you said this already, but when's your ER?
@emeraldduchess all my FX crossed for your first IUI. Feel free to be as vague with your boss as possible, it's your business! Leaving work with hardly any notice can be so hard--especially with both you and YH as teachers!!
@inthewoods23 I'm so glad you had a good a great vacay! And sounds romantic with all the HIO (: fx you don't need that mock transfer after all!
@keikilove Omg a tampon?? That is hilariously disgusting. And I'm loving your protocol this cycle! Update us on that immunologist appt too.
@kpearse99 yay for IUI day!! My RE said to HIO on the night of IUI and the next day... So maybe you can say it's jennifer_louise 's doctor's orders?? 😉 FX for you!
@NYTino24 sorry about the side effects I had nothing on Letrozole so far and lots of terrible emotions with Clomid, so go figure. Weird how everyone responds differently. Hope it lets up soon.
@nitnat007 maybe I should know this, but what types of classes do you teach at the gym? So excited for your upcoming IVF and waiting eagerly for your updates!
@pom9207 welcome!! Hope this IUI does the trick, and hope you don't need that appt with the RE after all (:
Diagnosis: unexplained

What are you doing this cycle? Letrozole + trigger IUI#1 + Progesterone
How are things going? Ugh, not well. I am feeling the weight of the world lately and I don't know how to get out of this funk. I'm worried it will persist through the holidays. I'm basically avoiding a ton of my friends on the off chance they'll tell me they're KU and I'm starting to hate myself for it. I want off this stupid TTGP roller coaster.
Any questions? Anybody else have no new side effects from the Progesterone?? So far this feels like any other TWW and I'm worried my body isn't absorbing the Prometrium as it should. TMI** I do have the nasty discharge, but really that's all.**
GTKY: Oooh there have been so many costumes that make me lol in person but the one popping in my mind: I recently saw on the internet of a bunch of college guys dressed up as old ladies standing behind a door that (upon knocking) will fawn over your costume and give you candy. 😂
@jennifer_louise I hate that you're having such a hard time right now I've actually started doing more girls nights with my friends and it's actually be helping to put me in better spirits and to take my mind off of a lot of the struggles (granted none of them are TTGP though so I don't have to worry about surprise triggers but some of them have struggled with trying in the past so they know what I'm going through). I know you've been avoiding friends and doing stuff but maybe going out will actually do the opposite for you and will help you. You could start small with just a friend or two. Anyway, I'm sending you hugs and prayers that this does the trick for you!

@jennifer_louise I felt no different being on progesterone than I did on any other cycle. Even on the PIO I didn't feel any symptoms were more extreme. Maybe have your progesterone checked just to make sure it's up during your TWW?

@kpearse99 thanks, friend. 💜 That's a good idea. I do have a few girlfriends that are almost certainly not TTC and I should be trying to spend more 'girl time'.
@inthewoods23 yes, that's exactly what I want! I'm totally gonna be that obnoxious patient that asks for way more monitoring next cycle.
Also, @keikilove, I'm a jerk for not saying it before, but I am so sorry for the sucky anniversary. I'm sending all the hugs your way to get you through.
@feather_heather Hope you get lots of follicles and good eggs! They are having me come in, probably because I was right last time. I just know people with PCOS can have positive OPKs forever (or never) so that got me thinking. I’m calling an almost mature follicle on the right. This is insane and messing with our timing and my lining... @misshelen86 Everyone around us knows and I’m glad. I can’t imagine feeling like I need to hide anything or go through it alone. I have needed every bit of support our friends, family, and coworkers have given and I hope you get the same. @jennifer_louise it’s weird because the oral progesterone at a lower dose made me feel so off - like being drunk or something - and I have no side effects to double the dose being used as a suppository. @mvt2003 That sounds SO FUN!! @b_1029 Keeping my fingers crossed for you, friend!!! Having 3 follicles is amazing!!!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): RE consultation on Wednesday!
How are things going?: Trying not to play out every scenario of the conversation on Wed in my head. Want to stay optimistic.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen?
@NYTino24 No help on the blazing OPK and boo on the extra side effects.
@nitnat007 that is creative with the costume! Hope you recover from the cold soon!
@keikilove *TW so sorry for that loss, and all the ones following TW* Yay for new protocol and hope! And for RI consult! Have they given you any direction about what an RI might be able to provide/next steps?
@kpearse99 Yay for good numbers and great timing! Hoping that refreshing weekend in Charleston is the perfect setup for this! Good luck with the wait! Love what the person said! As for the +1, I say get all you can, if not for IUI then for fun! lol.
@Emeraldduchess Good luck with the convo with the boss! Hope it goes smoothly!
@mvt2003 How long is your LP normally? I would mention it to them if it is shorter than 12 days. Have you been on progesterone for any of your recent cycles?
@Misshelen86 Over time we have shared with a select few friends & family. It definitely helps to have someone in your corner, but I would choose carefully who all you include if you are wanting to avoid unwanted advice.

Diagnosis (if you've been): RPL, Autoimmune mysteries, blood-clotting disorders, AMA, DOR bs
*TW: Loss*
Did the trigger Saturday night and now I’m waiting for the sperm wash to be done so we can do IUI number 2!
multiples, but I like the thought of it giving me more than one chance for it to work, ya know?
Last update, Charleston was AMAZING!!! Such a super quick trip but it was the perfect getaway in such a beautiful place!
Any questions?: nope
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I think dogs in costumes are hilarious!

@nitnat007 So exciting that things are moving along for you. Sorry you caught the cold.. I’m just getting over it too. That’s a very creative costume idea!
@keikilove So sorry you are struggling right now.

I don't think you need to place a separate call, but I would totally mention it at my next appointment. That being said though, if it would give you peace of mind, then call them or email them! @b_1029 you just have a gut feeling or something? Having 3 follies is amazing for an IUI, and if YH numbers are higher than last time, that's great news too!

@NYTino24 hmmm no idea on the cysts. Hopefully everything is ok. Sorry you had to miss monitoring, that’s frustrating. I hate the emotional side effects of these meds – as if we weren’t already emotional enough with this whole thing.
@nitnat007 ah so excited you’re getting started this week! Yay! I’m sorry to hear you’ve been sick but you’re right, better now than later! Hope you get back to 100% soon! That’s pretty funny about the crane costume
@keikilove sorry I never fully caught up on last week’s thread, what’s the addition to your protocol this cycle? Very excited you’re trying something new and I hope it’s successful! So sorry for that tough milestone. Sending you virtual hugs
also OMG the human tampon.
@kpearse99 ahh so glad to hear about your follies and that the IUI went well! Keeping everything crossed for you, my friend! I love Charleston and I’m glad you guys had fun! Also… MH’s were 20 million this time too, which is obviously a sign that we’re both getting KU and moving to July.
@emeraldduchess yay for no side effects, that’s always a plus. I hope everything goes well on Thursday. Good luck talking to your boss, hope they’re understanding!
@feather_heather wow it sounds like you’re responding really well so far! Hope things continue to progress beautifully!
@mvt2003 what are you gonna do for the competition? That sounds fun and definitely a fun way to get your mind off things. Sorry you’re in limbo, it’s never a fun place to be. You might as well mention the spotting – if anything, it’ll be on your record for the future? Idk. Is that normal for you?
@misshelen86 I didn’t really have side effects from letrozole either (other than TMI – a ton of CM the first month) so I hope you won’t either! I hope your HSG comes back normal on Friday and that the procedure goes well. The waiting is the worst part, is there anything going on between now and the 18th to distract you? As far as your Q – I think I had shared with a few close friends (and mom) that we were TTC after the first few months so then it just naturally rolled over into IF. As time has gone on I have shared with more people to include my boss (not the nitty gritty details, just like hey this is why I’m so unproductive and depressed and need all these random 2 hour chunks out of office). I did post during NIAW this year on social media so now we're "out" so to speak. I’m someone who has to talk to people about things and not everyone is like that, but I will say I have gotten a ton of stupid advice. At this point it mostly rolls off my back but initially that was really hard to take since it seems like people are implying it’s something you’re doing wrong (I know that's not their intention, people just don't know what to say, but when you're already down and blaming yourself for something imaginary it's easy to fall into the trap)

I almost laughed at my RE after the first IUI because she was like, “ok so you should have sex again tonight so your body understands what you’re trying to do”...I’m like, after this long it doesn’t already know?!!

@meri-mac Way to go, rocking those shots!!
@b_1029 Oh friend, this time of year has so many triggers. Everywhere we turn, they are there. Be kind to yourself, only do the things that make you feel good. It is ok to say no to people too. Also, don't give up hope. There is always a chance. FX!
@feather_heather grow follicles grow!
Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained, low morph

@feather_heather so excited for you!

@NYTino24 sorry about the side effects
@nitnat007 maybe I should know this, but what types of classes do you teach at the gym? So excited for your upcoming IVF and waiting eagerly for your updates!
@pom9207 welcome!! Hope this IUI does the trick, and hope you don't need that appt with the RE after all (:
Diagnosis: unexplained
Status: TWW

@mvt2003 That sounds SO FUN!!
@b_1029 Keeping my fingers crossed for you, friend!!! Having 3 follicles is amazing!!!

@feather_heather 18 Follies is good! Keeping my fx for you!
@mvt2003 How long is your LP normally? I would mention it to them if it is shorter than 12 days. Have you been on progesterone for any of your recent cycles?
The T-Rex sounds amazing! I crack up so hard with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h59lUTbuE1I
@Misshelen86 Over time we have shared with a select few friends & family. It definitely helps to have someone in your corner, but I would choose carefully who all you include if you are wanting to avoid unwanted advice.
@meri-mac Good luck with the check-up on Wed!
@b_1029 Sorry the holiday blues are hitting so early! It is hard. Hope you find encouragement! And lots of TLC!
Ran out of time, be back later for the rest of the tags!
