This might be a silly question, but I can’t find anything on Dr. google about it... when you release two eggs do BOTH follicles become a corpus luteum, thus producing more hormones/progesterone or does only one? It makes sense that both would do the same thing, right?

@kpearse99 I can now finally answer a question lol. Both will produce progesterone. Since I’m just starting with infertility I feel bad because I never know the answer to anyone’s questions. Pharmacy school has finally taught me something lol

Okay, ladies. My doctor's office called and they want to schedule IUI for Friday. They left me a voice message, so I didn't get to ask about the size of my follicles, but I will probably message my nurse on the patient portal to see if they can tell me just for my own information.
@kpearse99 I spotted on the first day of IUI and not the second. What’s weird is I barely felt anything on the day there was blood and nothing happened when I actually felt it.
I edited my post because I posted fast and the fluid wasn’t in the lining - I think it was in the uterus or pelvis and she mentioned it when she was measuring my lining. They spit out so much info so fast to the nurses and don’t explain a lot unless you ask questions.
Back later for more comments. Gotta do dishes and dinner.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
CD14 and still no sign of ovulation according to OPK... I had some light spotting yesterday and cramping on my right side, so maybe it's ovulation bleeding? How long does ovulation happen after "ovulation bleeding"... Ugh
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Letrozole (5mg), TI, and Progesterone
How are things going?: Doing pretty well...I have been hopeful for this cycle, but also knew realistically I probably wouldn’t get KU the first cycle back trying. But I still am just happy that things are back to normal and we are trying again! Got a BFN yesterday...I plan on testing again on 16DPO if I haven’t gotten AF and maybe stopping the progesterone if it’s another negative.
Any questions?: None right now.
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? I think I have to go with T-Rex too...they are just so funny with the short little arms & enormous head!
@NYTino24 yay for some good-sized follicles! Sorry for the cyst, I hope it goes away on it’s own quickly! Fingers crossed this is your cycle!!
@nitnat007 yay for starting your IVF cycle! Sorry you caught a cold, hope it goes away fast!
@keikilove so sorry for the anniversary and all the feelings! Sending so many hugs your way!! 💜 I have everything crossed that this new IUI protocol will do the trick for you!
@kpearse99 I am so excited/hopeful for you this cycle!! I love the thought of 2 follicles so you have 2 chances!
@emeraldduchess glad you haven’t had any side-effects from the Letrozole! Good luck with BW tomorrow! Also, I’m so glad the talk with your boss went well! @feather_heather good luck with your ER tomorrow! That is so incredibly exciting! I hope all goes well!!
@mvt2003 I’m so sorry you find yourself in this “in-between” stage! I think if it would give you some peace of mind to ask about the spotting, then you definitely should!
@misshelen86 I hope your HSG goes well on Friday and the next few weeks fly by for your RE appt! I hope sharing with some friends/family will give you some extra support!
@meri-mac yay for good results today!! Do you know approx when your ER will be?
@b_1029 so sorry for all the triggers and that you don’t feel hopeful about this IUI! I’m going to be hopeful for you though, I have everything crossed this is it for you!! @inthewoods23 I’m so glad you had such a good time on vacation and that you O’d!! Glad things are moving along for you, and fingers crossed this natural cycle works!!
@pom9207 welcome, so sorry that you find yourself here...but this is a wonderfully supportive community! Good luck with this IUI! So sorry for the trigger, it’s so hard when it’s unexpected! I actually had what I think j was O bleeding for the first time this cycle, and I O’d 2 days after. I’m not sure if that is normal though since it was the first time it happened to me.
@jennifer_louise I’m so sorry for all the feelings!! This journey is so frustrating & unfair!! I am so hopeful for you that this IUI is a success and you can move on in your journey!
It’s been a very busy week so far, this thread is jumping! Happy to see so many exciting updates. As always, thank you all for the warm words of support. Last week was extremely hard, full of tears, & this week is full of hope. Oooh, the rollercoaster of TTC!
@NYTino24 I hear you on only doing the “light” daily threads and this one. When I’m traveling for work those light/silly/fun ones seem to be the only ones I can quickly chime in on—both to stay involved as more newbies join us but also to show I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth. I feel so badly that I’m not even consistent on this thread due to time constraints, I can’t handle the dailies right now.
@emeraldduchess Yay for starting BW! “Trick or treat, indeed!” Hahaha!
@feather_heather Wow, it’s already just about time! What a great number of follies, FX everything goes super perfectly for you.🤞🏽
@kpearse99 I’m so dang excited for you & IUI#2! I am just praying that your instincts were right about #2 being THE one.🙏🏽 How perfectly auspicious that your beta date is lucky 11.11. And I LOVE what you shared about “you’re pregnant until you’re told you’re not”. We did another IUI yesterday & I shared your quote with MH. He loved it & said we are gonna assume we are pregnant unless someone official tells us otherwise.☺️So thank you for that!
@mvt2003 I’m sorry you feel like you’re in a weird limbo place. It is strange when you’re waiting, and then you get on google...(or at least I do). I hope you get concrete answers on Monday at the RE. Good luck with the Halloween decorating! That sounds like so much fun & great for workplace morale. Hope we get to see pics soon!
@misshelen86 I know what you mean about getting triggered by the newbies who are frustrated after almost no time trying & no BFP. Even though my issue is different from some of us here in IF, the lengthy time passing without a THB, having more birthdays with nothing to show for it, is the same for all of us & probably the most brutal part of this process in my opinion. Patience & hope are a must in this long game. And thank you for being hopeful for me, we are too! I’m also hopeful for you & the HSG Friday—I pray your few weeks till the follow-up with your RE flies by & that you get clarity with all the testing results. Regarding your question about sharing about IF with others: I only shared with 2 “aunties” who’ve delivered babies for decades to ask if they’d had any clients with a history like mine. Turns out they’d both experienced their own devastating & multiple losses—but without answers, so that was somehow oddly comforting. Then I’ve talked with several girlfriends who have also gone through losses or IF. I only told 2 of my sisters last week because they wondered why I’m always getting on a plane for doctor’s appointments. They were both surprisingly sad for me and also supportive, so I found that very relieving. MH & I haven’t shared with more family because they’ve made insensitive and unsolicited comments in the past. I hope sharing really does help you & that you can find more support if you decide to share with more people.❤️
@meri-mac Thanks for the love, and right back at you!❤️ I hope your checkup went wonderfully today!🤞🏽 And try not to mind the bubbles in the meds—they drive us crazy but can’t do any harm.😉 You are sooo close, it’s so exciting!!
@b_1029 I’m so so sorry that the holiday blues are already creeping in. I am literally saying a prayer right now that next year YOU will be scheduling the trick-or-treating around your sweet lil baby.🙏🏽 I am so hopeful for you that the IUI worked perfectly! 3 follies is excellent, and so was YH’s sperm count! Please don’t worry that your timing was off or too late: I had one IUI where the doc could see a collapsed follicle & I was super worried that we missed our window. She followed the insemination with an hCG shot. I felt nothing, was sure I’d already ovulated overnight (which looked to be the case on ultrasound) & doubted that it had worked, I thought we were too late. But my BW numbers looked great (prog, estr, FSH, LH, etc) & that IUI was initially successful. Try your best to keep a positive mindset even though that is still obviously a huge challenge right now. I sincerely believe you & kpearse are going to make the July BMB amazing, & I hope myself & many of us get to join you. So many hugs to you, my friend!♥️ (I will answer your question about my protocol in another post, I’m getting so longwinded here!)
@kpearse99 Forgot to add: I’ve had 4 IUIs now & this one was the first time I’m experiencing both things you listed: a little fluid leaking out and some light spotting after the procedure. I think it’s normal & we are both fine, nothing to worry about!😉
@inthewoods23 I got so happy when I saw you post TWW! Your body finally did its thing, Hooray! Perfectly timed vacation sex—love it! Also excited for you for the mock cycle—I hope it gives clear answers so that everything is perfectly timed for the next round. (But also hoping that you do wind up being that super beautiful unicorn that is KU on your own before you get there🤞🏽)
@pom9207 Welcome! Sad that you’re here but glad you have a group to commiserate with. It sounds like you’ve done your homework! I’m sorry your current OB won’t do more monitoring before your IUI—that’s super frustrating. I understand what you are saying about your health insurance. But while you wait for 2020 could you find another OB or RE who will see you just to do the IUIs with monitoring? If you’re paying out of pocket it would be worth it to find someone who will at least do the BW & ultrasounds. Then when you see the RE in the new year you can take care of the high prolactin, etc. (Or maybe find one now who is willing to prescribe the prolactin meds instead of waiting.)
@jennifer_louise I’m sooo sorry you’re feeling so down and hopeless. This is such a hard time of year for so many of us; it breaks my heart to read everyone’s struggles. I wish I could reach out and hug you IRL, but sending stranger internet hugs to you in the meantime. And I truly don’t mean to annoy you or others who are down right now, but remember that thinking positively really does affect you physiologically. You’ve had the majorly positive thing of doing your first IUI! Please believe it’s going to work. I’m sending you tons of positive energy and warm thoughts.♥️ (Also, lucky you that the progesterone isn’t affecting you! I don’t have many side effects anymore from the progesterone except extra discharge & night sweats. When I first started it I felt exhausted& drunk on it.) (Another also: Please don’t feel bad for not saying something about my sad milestone! It was in a spoiler because I know some people might need to skip something like that. You are not obligated in any way to respond! Besides, i liked laughing again with you about the human tampon costume—way more fun😊)
@ramzlau I just want to say that I’m very sorry for your recent loss. We haven’t gotten to interact much yet but I’m glad you’re here in TTGP with a group who can support you. Thank you for the kind words and well wishes with my current sitch. So far I’ve gathered from others in an online group that the RI is going to run a million tests—much more in depth than anything I’ve had before, and I’ve had almost everything haha. She also gives quite a bit of medication when needed. My RE has already added lots of things that this RI does, but we haven’t found the magic combo yet. I’m so eager to hear what the RI thinks might be the problem. Honestly, when I saw your diagnoses of elevated prolactin & tsh & chronic endo, I instantly wondered if you’ve seen an RI? Many women that go to her have your symptoms/challenges. Feel free to PM me for more info or to get invited to the online groups. But also, I hope your meeting today with the RE was excellent! I pray that s/he can also help you with those issues since they’re already clearly identified.
(As usual, I’ve only made it through the first page of posts & it’s taken me a few hours to respond. Back for more tags later!)
@keikilove I am so happy you are using that quote!! I was hoping it would help someone else too Why shouldn't we think like that, you know? How did your IUI go yesterday?

@bluetickgal When we first started the process, the nurse estimated November 5th for ER. I assume it will be around there given that everything is progressing as normal. I hope to get a more precise date at Friday's check up. I'm still hopeful for you! Everything is crossed!

AFM: I clarified with my RE's office that I actually had 4 follies: On the left, I had two: 17.57mm, 12.08mm. On the right, I had two also: 17.29mm, 12.29mm.
AFM, I went in for bloodwork this morning, no LH surge just yet, so I have to go back tomorrow and most likely into the city over the weekend because the local clinic is closed on weekends. So I am in for a 2 hour drive round-trip for a 5 minute blood draw. Oh well! 🤷♀️
@shoogapoff sounds like you’ll be releasing two mature follies this cycle too!!

So much good news here, love it!🌞 @feather_heather that’s a great number of eggs retrieved, congrats! Praying you get great news tomorrow on fertilization rates. Hope you feel better soon!
@shoogapoff Good luck tomorrow, those are great follie sizes!
@kpearse99 My IUI went great, but I was doubtful at first due to timing once again. It was CD13 & my OPKs still weren’t turning even slightly toward positive—this is very late for me. The RE put hCG into a solution and then infused that into my uterus. I sat for about 10 or 15 minutes letting it take effect. Then she came in to do the insemination. She asked how we were doing & I said I was a little concerned that MH only had 10,000 mil sperm this time—his lowest number ever. But we did HIO about 32 hours before so my bad. Dr said “I don’t want to hear one hint of negativity in this room, only positive thoughts!” 😳 So I shut my mouth & changed my mindset real quick! She said my lining was at 11 (my best ever!) and a follie on my right was measuring 24mm, woohoo! Then she said “And something’s happening over here on the left” but she didn’t say what and I couldn’t really tell from the U/S screen. When she inseminated the sperm the solution looked super bright on the screen due to the hCG infusion. I could see the glowing trail of sperm as she injected them—so cool. Also, my BW came back & showed that despite my weak OPKs it was the perfect timing for IUI. Not sure why they’ve been weak the past two cycles... Anyway, at airport security for the flight home I asked for a pat-down instead of going through the x-ray scanner thing. Thanks to you I’m acting like I’m already pregnant!😄
@b_1029 My new protocol this time was that the RE infused my uterus with an hCG solution before the IUI. I will follow with hCG shots at home every 3 days for the next 12-14 days (plus the usual Lovenox, and 3 types of progesterone & estradiol to be safe until we get BW back). Then we watch the blood tests to see if the hCG drops or if it goes up on its own. (Nail biting scenario, I can already feel it.😬) The theory is that the hCG tells the body there’s already a pregnancy happening and it quiets down all the immune issues in order to facilitate pregnancy (or in this case, implantation). If this works right it should also make my body produce its own progesterone and estradiol instead of having to supplement, but we will do that as well if needed.
I know it's the end of the week but hope it's ok if I pop in here because we got some news today at our follow up!
Diagnosis (if you've been): PCOS/unexplained, some MFI
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Natural cycle
How are things going?: Well we had our follow up with our RE this morning that we booked 3 months ago. He was bummed for us that IUI isn't working because he thought we nailed it. BW looked good, follies looked good, sperm looked good (for us, I mean), but it's just not happening. He said now that we've done 2 we have two options - we can do another IUI or we can move on to IVF. So we're moving on! We go for our info session on Nov 14th to pick up our meds, I will start BCP probably beginning or middle of Dec because he doesn't want me on it for 5+ weeks so he doesn't want anything to be messed up by the Christmas break because the clinic will be closed (except for monitoring) for 2 weeks over Xmas. So we're targeting a January ER. Eek!
Any questions?: A million, but I'll wait until the appt on Nov 14th. For those who administer your own shots, how hard is/was it? MH will be useless, he hears the word needle and turns green. The nurse was making fun of him because she said normally the husbands turn grey when they have to pay but they're all macho about the needles.
GTKY: What is the funniest Halloween costume you’ve ever seen? Funniest? The human condoms are pretty funny, saw a bunch of those in university. We host a Halloween party at work every year so we've had some reeaally creative costumes. My dad was in drag 2 years ago which was horrifying but also hilarious. I'll post some pics if I find them.
TTC History:
Me: 36 MH: 39, TTC since Dec 2017
Aug '18: PCOS dx
Nov '18: MH SA - 19mil
Dec '18-Mar '19: Letrozole + TI - all BFN
Apr '19: Letrozole + TI, - BFN. Repeat SA (27mil) & DNA fragmentation test (17%)
@kiki047 all my ER drugs were subcutaneous so it was easy to administer myself since I can see those injections. The needles are short and quite thin so it just feels like a tiny poke. The needles are thinner than or about the size of the posts of an earring. Some meds do give a stinging feeling but it's not too bad.
I expected a lot more bruising based on what I had read about doing all the injections, since you're doing multiple a day. I didn't look like I got beat up by somebody, but some people can end up with bruising all over.
ETA: and of course - so excited for you! Are you going to be doing a fresh or frozen transfer? Or is that something you'll know come the 14th?

@kiki047 FRIEND!!!! I’m happy you joined back in 🤗😘♥️
@keikilove Oh I am so happy your RE told you to turn off the negativity 😆 and that’s so cool you actually got to see it all happen! I don’t get to see anything haha does your RE not want you to do the trigger shot? Although, it sounds like the timing was PERFECT! And 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 For treating yourself like you’re pregnant already! Stick to that mindset and give yourself all the positive affirmations! I so hope this is it for you!

@feather_heather yay, so many eggs! Hope you can have a relaxing evening and get great news tomorrow about how many fertilized!
@shoogapoff that’s great news!! Everything crossed for your IUI tomorrow!!
@emeraldduchess glad monitoring is going well! Maybe you’ll get a surprise tomorrow with an LH surge, but if not...hope you can make a fun little road trip of it on the weekend!
@keikilove so glad your IUI went well!! I have everything crossed for you!!
@kiki047 so sorry the IUI’s didn’t work like expected, but I’m glad you had the option to move on to IVF! January will be here before you know it too!
@emeraldduchess Yay for a supportive boss! Boo for the 2 hour drive.
@shoogapoff So exciting! Friday is tomorrow! FX crossed for you!
@keikilove thank you! I know the feeling of having done all the tests. I hope you don’t have to take the next step with the RI, but the RI sounds like she knows how to fine tune things. I have never heard of RI before, but before infertility I didn’t know REs existed either. My RE is very direct and specific. She likes the numbers to be exact, so she doesn’t hesitate to medicate or check and double check everything. It truly amazes me how many things have to be right to get KU. I have everything crossed for you!
@kiki047 Yay for moving on and having a plan. I imagine so many questions, but so hopeful for this process for you!
AFM: Had a great RE appointment yesterday. She is already hitting the ground running and we have our checklist of repeat tests to get through during this cycle to be prepared for IUI next. Starting with labs (AMH, TSH) and HSS tomorrow. Going back on cabergoline, Synthroid, CoQ10, baby aspirin, Vitamin D, and Folate starting today and ABX on Day 1.
@ramzlau my question about if releasing two eggs would have both corpus luteums releasing progesterone? Apparently I haven’t been producing a decent level of it (after the last CP it was only at 1.3 and the cycle before that (When I didn’t O) it never got above 0.3. My RE doesn’t really want to put me on progesterone supplements because he said there’s no proof that it does anything to help you get pregnant. So I was wondering and hoping that because I had two eggs released if my body would produce more now on it’s own than what it has been with only one egg. If that makes any sense 😂

@keikilove Thank you! Glad that this week you are feeling better & full of hope!
You are right, I should consider seeing someone who can do monitoring for me before insemination. I plan to book my first consultation appointment with a fertility clinic in our area for my next cycle. Maybe they will have an OOP discounted price?!
@shoogapoff that sounds great! I'm glad you're good to go for an IUI this time around. Let us know how it goes!
@kiki047 I'm so excited for you to be moving on! The timing seems right with the holidays coming up - I'll be waiting for your updates! (PS it makes me so happy when you pop in here)
@emeraldduchess ahhhh, the things we do for TTGP. I personally enjoy little road trips and I hope you do too. So no trigger shot for you? How long after your LH surge will you be scheduled for the IUI?
@pom9207 many clinics (mine included) do a OOP or cash/check discount. At ours it's not a ton, but every little bit counts! Then I hurriedly run home and file an insurance claim....
@feather_heather YAY! As long as the RE is happy it is a good sign Fx for lots of embryos!!
@kiki047 I'm sad the IUI didn't work, but excited that you have a plan! January will be here in a flash! The first time I did the injection I was really hesitant because there were so many steps for mixing the Menopur. Now I'm pretty sure I could do it in my sleep. The biggest thing is getting over the nerves of sticking yourself. I am sure you will do great!
@ramzlau So glad you had a good RE appointment! Starting off on a positive note can really help.
Update: Had my check-up this morning before work. BW will be in later, but US was good. Right follicles are still a touch smaller than the left so they may bump my Gonal-F from 150 to 200. Nurse was encouraging though.
@emeraldduchess That is a long drive just for blood work. Totally worth it though. FX!
@kiki047 hi friend! Sorry that IVF is your next step, but so thrilled that you are able to get started so soon. MH did my shots, but honestly I think I could do them myself if I needed to. The needles are really short and thin.
@nitnat007 what does nasal spray do? (aside from when you have a cold, obviously haha)

@kpearse99 Some clinics use it in place of Lupron is order to stop ovulation. As part of the down regulation process. It is ridiculously inconvenient with needing to be done 5 times a day. (I have alarms set on my phone for it). Side effects of yucky after taste and slight headaches normally only last the first day or two.
@nitnat007 I find that very interesting! I agree though, the after taste is awful!! I hate nasal sprays!

@keikilove oh friend, I hope this new protocol is it for you! Is your appt with the specialist today?? Good luck! Will be thinking about you. @inthewoods23 The SC ones don't worry me too much, and they're all in the belly, yes? He mentioned lupron and gonal-F for now, and eventually PIO down the road. We'll find out the whole protocol on the 14th. The plan is for a frozen transfer because he's recommending PGS. @kpearse99 hi hi! You've been on my mind all week. As hard as it is to keep up, I'm going to try my best! @feather_heather I'm on pins and needles waiting for your update this afternoon! @bluetickgal thank you! I think it'll come soon too, especially with the craziness of the holidays sandwiched in there. @ramzlau so sorry to see you back here but hopefully the next round of tests will shed some light on things. @shoogapoff FX for you today! So many follies, that's got to be a good sign! @jennifer_louise I was finding I wasn't getting my work done because of how much time I spent on TB (because I only bump at work) but you know I can't quit you guys! I'll be around as much as I dare without losing my job lol. @meri-mac if the SC shots are anything like my trigger shots I'm not too worried, but I'm terrified of anything IM like PIO. MH will be useless, lol. So excited for you! Things sound like they're moving along really well. How are you feeling about it all? @nitnat007 it is such a relief that we can roll right into IVF. It's different because we pay OOP and deal with insurance stuff after the fact so since that's not going to hold anything up for now we're jumping in head first. Happy Friday to you too! I've never heard of the nasal spray before, that sounds interesting. GL!
ETA: AFM - I had a small meltdown last night just being overwhelmed with all the feelings and stress from the day but overall feeling good about having a plan. I go for my AMH test on Tuesday morning too. Do I need to keep anything in mind when I meet with my doc for results?

@kiki047 yep, SC is in the belly, right near the belly button. PIO will be intramuscular. Trying to inject oil through a tiny needle can be tough, but doable. Didn't take me too long to get used to it all

@feather_heather good luck with your ER tomorrow! That is so incredibly exciting! I hope all goes well!!
@inthewoods23 I’m so glad you had such a good time on vacation and that you O’d!! Glad things are moving along for you, and fingers crossed this natural cycle works!!

AFM: I clarified with my RE's office that I actually had 4 follies: On the left, I had two: 17.57mm, 12.08mm. On the right, I had two also: 17.29mm, 12.29mm.
@shoogapoff grow follies, grow!
AFM, I went in for bloodwork this morning, no LH surge just yet, so I have to go back tomorrow and most likely into the city over the weekend because the local clinic is closed on weekends. So I am in for a 2 hour drive round-trip for a 5 minute blood draw. Oh well! 🤷♀️

@feather_heather that’s a great number of eggs retrieved, congrats!

I expected a lot more bruising based on what I had read about doing all the injections, since you're doing multiple a day. I didn't look like I got beat up by somebody, but some people can end up with bruising all over.

@ramzlau So glad you had a good RE appointment and that progress is being made!
@emeraldduchess So sorry for the long drive! Do you have any good podcasts to listen to?

@bluetickgal So glad to hear you are back to trying again. Sorry about the bpn, still FX for you.
@feather_heather Yay! That is a great count on eggs. Everything crossed for you on your fertilization report.
@shoogapoff Come on follies, grow!
@meri-mac Keep those babies growing!

GL!
ETA:
AFM - I had a small meltdown last night just being overwhelmed with all the feelings and stress from the day but overall feeling good about having a plan. I go for my AMH test on Tuesday morning too. Do I need to keep anything in mind when I meet with my doc for results?
