@kpearse99 So good that you get to go back in and ask your questions. Will you just see a nurse or will you get to see your doctor as well? FX that you get everything answered and that the baseline goes well. Thank you for the advice. And you are absolutely right. If she does not understand then that is her issue.
@inthewoods23 I do think that if we were closer, or if it were my sister, that I would feel differently about it too. But we are not that close and have not spoken to her since February. Would she even notice that I am not there?
@NYTino24 That is a good way to look at it. I honestly am not sure if it would affect the friendship as we have not really been in touch for months now. She is/was aware that we were going through IF last year though and was aware of our failed cycle. I may be using the last minute stomach bug lol. Thanks! Good luck tomorrow! I hope that it goes well.
@keikilove Oh friend, I am so so sorry to see you back here. My heart breaks for you and everything that you have gone through. Sending you all the love
@NYTino24 I am so sorry you're dealing with all of this, are you still running the fever? Would the BW have shown any infection?
@kpearse99 I can't see why progesterone would hurt! I would ask!!
@misshelen86 I cannot believe they nickel and dime you like that!!!! I'm so sorry!!!
@nitnat007 In all honesty, I would skip it, because I get so emotional so easily, and I would never want a hard moment of mine to impact anyone else's special day, and also sometimes you just need to protect yourself. I bailed on MH's friend's wife's baby shower, and MH's friend called him out on it and then later admitted that his wife (the honoree) told him that he shouldn't have done that because they know we're trying and it's not going well.

@nitnat007 I get to see the RE!! When I called yesterday to tell them it was CD 1 they asked if I wanted to come in on Wednesday with the Nurse or Thursday with the RE. I usually don't mind seeing the nurse (plus it saves me my co-pay) but in this case I wanted to see my actual doctor so I could get answers in person and in real time. I'll let you all know how that goes tomorrow.

@keikilove Sorry for the sucky news. I hope your body goes easy on you.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
Sorry I’m so late to this thread this week, other than a few random comments. I’ve been trying to post since Monday and just never seemed to have enough time to finish with tags and everything!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Letrozole 5mg & adding in progesterone this cycle. SHG last week was all clear.
How are things going?: Doing pretty well, just excited to be back in the trying game! I’m glad to be adding in progesterone this cycle and really hope that is what has been missing (although I’m nervous for side-effects that could come along with it)! O has held out, so I don’t have to start the suppositories while at the IL’s on Friday...that’s a major plus!
Any questions?: I picked up my progesterone suppositories this past weekend...does everyone use an applicator? I didn’t get one with mine, but saw on Google (because I didn’t want to ask the older male pharmacist anything) that you can insert with/without an applicator. Also, do I need to use a pad after or would a pantyliner suffice? I feel like this question has been asked, and I think pad was the answer...but kind of hoping I’m wrong! Haha. And finally...do you lay down for a bit after or just go on about your business? I have to do 2 times a day, so just want to know what I should do for the morning ones.
GTKY: What jewelry, if any, do you wear? I wear my engagement/wedding band everyday as well as a heart necklace DH got me for my birthday this year. I switch out earrings, but mostly wear a pair of cheap CZ studs.
@NYTino24 sorry for the pelvic pain...glad you went in to get it checked out! Hope the repeat BW & US go well tomorrow and you get good results!
@emeraldduchess your chart doesn’t have to be pretty...but I understand, mine are usually rocky and I don’t like it! Fingers crossed so hard for you!!
@mvt2003 so sorry you had a reaction to the HSG, that sounds awful...glad it at least didn’t last too long though!
@inthewoods23 glad all your BW that has come back so far has been normal! Sorry your OPK’s still weren’t getting darker. Any progression now?
@jennifer_louise hope your US goes well tomorrow and you can schedule your IUI for this weekend! Everything crossed for you this cycle!
@misshelen86 that stinks you have to wait so long to meet with the RE again and that they charge for a simple phone call/email! Sounds like they are the best/only option near you, so hopefully it’s not too bad waiting. Sorry you are struggling with IVF being mentioned at the first appt...hopefully after all your results are in, you will find out that IUI is an option!
@meri-mac glad you had a good Thanksgiving weekend. Yay for phase 2 (is this ER or second set of meds?) beginning next week!
@nitnat007 yay, so glad the donor sperm arrived in time! Everything crossed for you!! And as others have said, you have to do what’s best for you...if you feel like you need to skip out on the shower, then that’s what you should do!
@bluetickgal my progesterone suppositories don't come with an applicator either. My side effects weren't too bad, although the first month was an adjustment. The bloat was tough while my body adjusted but it's not too bad now. I have some irritation and itching as well as occasional hot flashes, but nothing so strong or severe that it makes me regret using them. I wear a pad rather than a pantyliner because I need a little more to absorb the stuff that leaks out. I hope the progesterone does the trick for you!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): making an appointment with a RE
How are things going?: so unfortunately I think y’all are my people now lol. My regular gyno told me that my most recent blood work indicates that 1. I have PCOS which obviously I suspected or I wouldn’t have pushed for it 2. There’s no way I’m producing eggs with my hormones or able to conceive. So despite the fact we haven’t been trying that long we officially can’t get pregnant alone. I’m handling it very poorly as I’m sure many of you can relate.
Any questions?: I’m sure I will have all the questions as we get ready for our RE appointment and my new PCOS diagnosis.
GTKY: What jewelry, if any, do you wear? Just my engagement ring/wedding ring. Sometimes an occasional necklace but not often.
Thank you all so much. Honestly, I’ve been doing kind of ok & was kind of bracing myself for this outcome. But seeing all your kind words & feeling your hugs brings me to tears. Thank you for caring.♥️
I want to share some things in case it helps anyone else, and ask a question at the end. As usual, this is a long update. Thanks in advance for any input!
TL;DR 1) No more intralipid infusions for me. Doc suspects they’re causing my kidneys to have problems.
2) I asked for my estradiol to be checked among w hCG & progesterone. It came back shockingly low. We will probably supplement it next cycle. Some of you w RPL might ask yo have your estradiol checked too & supplement as needed.
3) My RE believes I should do another IUI. She wants to try giving me an hCG wash before the IUI, then have me give myself hCG shots every 3 days after that for 2 weeks. Might help w implantation.
4) I finally get in to see the Reproductive Immunologist at the start of next month! Maybe some more answers eventually...
A general *TW* because it might be hard for some friends to hear me talk about PG in general.
So, the first thing is that the intralipids infusion treatment that I hoped would be the magic bullet is now off the table. My hematologist who prescribed my Lovenox also does my iron injections. I get BW done before every appointment and he checks my levels of everything. This week my kidneys show that they’re not operating well at all. The only thing different in my lifestyle or diet is the intralipids. He said the fat molecules in the lipid solution may be too much for my kidneys to filter. I also wondered if the lipids somehow could have anything to do with me ovulating on CD10 & having just a 23-day cycle last month, and also ovulating on CD10 this cycle. (That was my old pattern before I started supplementing with everything 10 months ago.) It’s as if everything I’m taking was cancelled out & my now 26-28 day cycle reverted back to being very short. I’ve also had very unusual & bad cystic chin acne for the past 6 weeks, timing aligning exactly with the intralipid infusions. Normally my skin is crystal clear. Idk if my hormones are suddenly just out of whack in general or if it’s all related to the infusions. Anyway, the lipids were supposed to have no side effects but now that’s off the table due to a suspicion that it led to poor kidney function. So be aware that if you try intralipids you should also have your kidney function monitored, maybe.
Another thing that happened was I asked for my estradiol levels to be checked when the betas & progesterone were checked. Because I’m doing PIO shots my progesterone came back at 42.2, but estradiol was insanely low at a level of 14. Nurse said she never would’ve thought to even check my estrogen—that they only supplement with it in donor IVF cycles. Doc said I could supplement w 2 mg estradiol. That did increase my levels somewhat but nowhere near what they should’ve been & not enough to rescue the PG. (I saw in my Reproductive Immunology group that the RI doctor wants to see natural pregnancy estradiol levels at 100 & IVF levels at 200.) So, this is another question similar to what @kpearse99 posted earlier in the week: is my estradiol low because the corpus luteum or embryo is weak & not signaling my body to produce progesterone or estradiol on its own? Or is my progesterone & estradiol production low after ovulation and therefore not supporting the embryo to viability? (My progesterone & estradiol levels are both in a super healthy range before ovulation so this is quite the chicken-or-the-egg mystery.) *I wanted to include this for those of you with RPL who may have never thought to ask for your estradiol to be checked. It can be supplemented, just like progesterone can.*
My RE called yesterday with the latest beta results & I was surprised that she suggested I *do* try another IUI. She said that because the sperm is meeting the egg each time & the embryo is clearly attempting to implant, she does not believe it’s due to me having bad old eggs. She said that chromosal abnormalities would explain 1 or 2 chemicals but very unlikely for 5 in a row. She said it’s likely either an immune or an inflammatory/infection response. We discussed the Receptiva test briefly to check for endometriosis markers, although neither of us feels strongly that that is a culprit. She proposed that we try an hCG wash of the uterus before the next IUI. She just came from a conference & has been studying my case for the last week & feels this is a minimally invasive option to try next. After the IUI is finished she will give me the vial of hCG to take home ($300 or $500) & I will give myself small injections every 3 days for the next 2 weeks (500mg each time?). She said the only thing I need to be aware of is that neither BW nor a pregnancy test will be accurate for at least one month, since all that hCG will be in my system until I’m supposed to get my period anyway. She wants to try this because she believes (and research has informed her) that the higher levels of hCG will tell my body to turn on its receptors to receive the embryo. It should also make my body produce enough progesterone and estrogen on its own, and if it doesn’t we can plan to supplement anyway.
I also have my first appointment with the RI in Chicago at the start of next month. They advise patients not to TTC until doc has given a treatment protocol. But I know that it will take 1 month from the first appointment to get my test results & treatment plan from the RI, and then they recommend you do treatment for 2-3 months before attempting to get KU. I don’t want to wait until December just to even begin a new protocol that may not work either, but I also don’t want to waste money on another IUI & hCG if I’m going to get this same sad result.
So, my very long-winded question is: have any of you tried this hCG approach? Do you have any thoughts about it—especially those of you with a science background? Did any of our previous TTGP members try it? Thank you, as always, for your comments & support!
@beckylookatherbump I’m so sorry you’re joining this club. It’s very normal to have mixed emotions or surprise when you find yourself here; we can all relate. Yet, it’s so good that you have some answers & won’t waste anymore time trying on your own.
@bluetickgal Yay for getting back in the game! Re: the progesterone, I insert squishy orange pills right before bed. No applicator. Pantyliner. Very wet & messy in the morning, sorry for the grossness! No issues throughout the day but you’ll be doing them 2x so you’re probably right to go w a pad.
@keikilove My RE tests estradiol most times I get BW done. I’m sorry about the confusing mess and hope your kidneys return to normal function quickly! @beckylookatherbump Do they have a plan to address the PCOS? Chin up, lady! We are here for you. @bluetickgal I usr a long liner without an applicator.
US and BW today at the RE in a few minutes. Still dealing with effects of overstimulation and I think it’s 10 dpo. It’s easier to walk today than the last two days, but it feels like a combo of a million ab exercises, AF cramps, and stomach surgery.
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
Update: RE says I wasn’t overstimulated, but my blood disorder plus baby aspirin plus trigger exacerbated the ovulation bleeding. Still lots of blood and fluid (not in uterus) and BW is the same. The hemmoragic cyst on my left is up from 23 to 29 and she says it could still get bigger before it gets smaller. My doc gets back from vacation today or tomorrow so we will see what’s next. Not sure if I need to go back before the beta on Monday. I asked if this would affect a future cycle with treatment and she’s didn’t think so, but my body has to reabsorb all of the blood and fluid.
Don’t know why, but I cried on my way to work. I’m so tired of all of this and we are approaching a year soon. I feel so hard for our friends who have been trying for years and / or have really tough diagnoses.

@keikilove firstly so sorry to see you back. As you know my estradiol was super low too - ended up needing 60mg a day of tablets and patches every day... Fav Quote: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return
@NYTino24: not yet. Pretty much I had surgery a year and a half ago for the endometriosis. Given that we are in a time crunch to get pregnant before another surgery is required plus my new PCOS diagnosis my doctor pretty much said this is over our head and we need to refer you out. So right now I’m just in limbo waiting on my RE appointment. It’s just been a lot. I hope your cyst goes down soon. I know how painful those can get.
Hey ladies, sorry I've just been lurking around mostly.
I finally emailed my RE yesterday and asked about the light OPKs and if I should be concerned. I had been thinking it's totally normal for this cycle to be wonky since I've been on either BC, stims meds, or estradiol and progesterone since April. That's basically the answer they gave me although they added that the body taking up to a month to regulate again is why they don't recommend the OPKs which is not something they ever mentioned to me.
So at this point I'll still track, but I'll switch to OPKs every other day or every 3 days until I do see it get darker just so I have an idea of where the cycle is at.
Or maybe since my anxiety and stress are off the charts for the last month maybe I should do nothing and get caught off guard when AF finally arrives. DH and I are not doing a good job right now helping each other navigate this hard time. So much bad stuff is going on both personally and at work for both of us. We did some major communicating with each other yesterday evening to the point that neither of us had an appetite to eat dinner.
I'm really glad we planned a small vacation for next week. We really need it!

@inthewoods23 I honestly think it might be a good idea for you, mentally/emotionally/physically, to give yourself a break from tracking with the OPKs and just let yourself get caught off guard. Especially with all of this other stuff (personal and work) going on.
@NYTino24 I have no advice, but I give great creepy internet hugs. I'm sorry you're dealing with this ontop of everything else but I think it's great that it shouldn't effect you trying again next cycle. I feel ya on the crying and being over this process. I've been trying to get myself out of that feeling this week too.
@keikilove wow. I applaud you for the amount of research you do and the amount of knowledge you have and for how much you advocate for yourself. You are a rockstar, just know that. I will be emailing my RE right now and asking about the estrogen levels too. So thank you for that piece of information. He just came from a 3 day fertility conference too!
Here's my appointment update - As per my RE - My uterus "looks beautiful" and my ovaries "look great and young" (he still cracks me up) and he told me to "please don't get discouraged." and that all of this helps him revise his plans for me and we try again. He was happy I came with questions but as expected really feels strongly that adding progesterone won't do anything to help me, BUT he said that his patients are always right and if I wanted to try it I could... so he's leaving that up to me. I asked why I could be having implantation issues and he said that unfortunately implantation issues, and why they happen, is still a mystery even to fertility specialists. That all he can go off of is what everything looks like before and during the IUI and for me - it's all been great. My lining prior to the IUI was above the minimum where they want it to be, my follicle was nice, big and matured and genetically a good follie and above the size they need it to be and my blood work all looks great prior to the IUI too. I asked if we could check my progesterone levels a few days after the IUI and he said we could but that progesterone levels rise and fall every 4 hours, so it would be difficult to know if I was on the high end or low end of those 4 hours when the blood draw was done.
Right now our plan is to increase my letrozole dose to 7.5mg, instead of the 5 - do the trigger and then the IUI. Again, he said I can do the progesterone but he really doesn't see the need for it. MH doesn't want me to do the progesterone, not this cycle anyway, he really wants to try the doctor's plan again. (He doesn't like what he reads about the side effects and he wants to do this as "naturally" as possible). So I think that's what we are going to do - stick with the doctor's plan for this cycle and then discuss the progesterone next cycle, if needed. I think I'm okay with this plan... but I am going to ask to have my blood work done on the morning of the IUI too, to see where everything is at (it wasn't done on IUI last time) I'd be curious to know the numbers of everything at the time of O, ya know?
Sorry for the long post.

@meri-mac you are so organized! It probably feels great to do it like that. Then you at least have a plan of action.
@inthewoods23 it sounds like maybe you need a mental health break for a little and should just not track for a little bit. I do that sometimes. Especially with temping @kpearse99 yay for young ovaries lol. I know your husband would like not to but honestly if it will make you feel better do it. Like if this cycle didn’t work would you be convinced it was the progesterone and be mad that you didn’t do it? If yes then do it. We are hard enough in ourselves without leaving a variable in play to be mad at ourselves for.
@beckylookatherbump I honestly don't know what I want to do or how I would feel. I'm not worried about the IUI not working this cycle, I know not every cycle is successful, I am worried about another CP though, naturally. But I really don't know what I want to do as far as the supplements go. I still have time to decide, so that's good at least.

No beta today but progesterone dropped from 27 to 14 (forgot to take it this morning though) and estradiol is down from 504 on 10/5 to 414. I don’t think the IUI worked. I have to stop taking the baby aspirin.
@inthewoods23 Thinking of you. Hope you have a nice vacation. @kpearse99 Glad that you got to hear some good things!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@emeraldduchess@keikilove@NYTino24 thanks ladies for the progesterone tips!! I feel better knowing you all don’t use applicators either!
@keikilove I don’t have any insight to share, but sending hugs your way! To echo what @kpearse99 said, it’s awesome how knowledgeable you are about all this, and I appreciate you sharing! I’ll ask my RE about testing my estradiol level. Should that be tested after O or only if you are KU? I guess that kind of goes back to your chicken/egg mystery comment... Also, I really hope you don’t have to wait until December to get the new protocol!
@NYTino24 glad everything seemed to be “ok” in the fact that you don’t have OHSS and the cyst shouldn’t affect this or future cycles. Sending hugs though...this journey can be so draining on our emotions!! Ugh, so sorry your numbers dropped! 😕
@inthewoods23 that stinks they didn’t tell you about not using OPK’s. Sounds like taking a break may not be a bad idea! I hope things get better with the personal/work stuff and I hope your vacation helps you both to relax/recharge!
@kpearse99 already responded in WTO, but I’m so glad your appt went well! Your RE really does sound like a hoot! I’m sure that helps to make this incredibly stressful process just a tiny bit less stressful!
Do these baseline numbers sound in the normal range (CD 3)?

@kpearse99 Yes those all look in the normal ranges to me. I will send you a sheet that I use for reference and have found helpful in the past. Really good follow up with your doctor. Sounds like things went well and you have a solid plan for your next cycle.
@inthewoods23 You had such a frustrating time and it can be so difficult to navigate on your own and with a second person involved as well. Talking it out is tough, but so important to do. Enjoy your vacation next week. It will be good for you both to get away.
@NYTino24 Sending you stranger hugs! I get your frustration with all of this. I wish it was easy for all of us. We are warriors though and we will get through this. Stay strong.
@keikilove Wow, so glad that they tested and caught your kidney function and now have that on the mend. And good catch on your estradiol. Hopefully the HcG will do the trick. I have never heard of that approach before, but it sounds promising. I will have everything crossed for you friend!
@nitnat007 that would be amazing!! Thank you so much

But shhh we're not telling people that so it's an unnecessary surprise haha. There's absolutely no reason why we aren't telling people that. I just feel like it I guess for some humor. 🐠🦈🐟

@inthewoods23 I'm so glad you and your hubs got to communicate, and that your vacay is coming up! It seems like a much needed and well-deserved vacay.
@beckylookatherbump welcome, unfortunately! I hope your OB/RE can get things figured out quickly for you!
AFM- I forgot to update earlier because this has been a crazy week at work! I had my pre-IUI ultrasound today and things were looking good. She had a really hard time finding my right ovary again, so the ultrasound was actually super uncomfortable. She had to dig around a lot - it might have even been worse than my HSG! (now I'm wondering if my apparently difficult anatomy is keeping me from getting KU? Idk if that's even a thing, but obviously I'm still looking for an explanation that may never come) In the end she found 2 follies and scheduled the IUI for first thing Saturday am. I made my hubby do the trigger shot just now. He didn't tell me how nervous he was about it til after 😂.
I'm a little worried about this timing. After so many cycles of charting, it seems like my body responds real fast to O hormones. I know waiting 36 hours after the trigger is basically standard, but I hope it's not too late for me. When/if this cycle is a bust, I will advocate for 24 hours after trigger next time.
@jennifer_louise: I was told that normally the reason it’s harder to find one ovary than the other is your intestines being full and as it makes it was it can obscure one side. I had a cyst one time and they barely could see it so I don’t think size is the concern.
SA was completed and dropped off before work this morning. And now we wait...

@jennifer_louise Yay for having your IUI scheduled! I know it's easy to second-guess timing on things. I don't have any advice-just wanted to say that I understand the feeling.
AFM: Well, I wasn't planning on being back until CD 1, but here I am, almost a week late for AF, and tons of BFNs. I reached out to my RE and they said the meds I was on last cycle might be making this cycle longer. Of course I didn't chart this cycle at all, so I have no idea what is going on. In the 3 years I have tracked my cycle, I've never had one longer than 26 days (usually more like 24 days lately). It's CD 29 now, and no signs of AF at all. I know that sounds dramatic, considering 5 days is not that crazy off, and I am being a total peggy by saying how regular I usually am. But I'm just tired of having barriers to even starting treatment. So, I guess I'm back, even though nothing is happening....
Re: IF Treatment and Testing Week of 10/14-10/20/19
@inthewoods23 I do think that if we were closer, or if it were my sister, that I would feel differently about it too. But we are not that close and have not spoken to her since February. Would she even notice that I am not there?
@emeraldduchess thanks friend

Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): wto
I want to share some things in case it helps anyone else, and ask a question at the end. As usual, this is a long update. Thanks in advance for any input!
TL;DR
1) No more intralipid infusions for me.
@kpearse99 Hope it goes GREAT tomorrow!🤞🏽
@misshelen86 I’m sorry for that frustrating system at your RE’s office! Hopefully there’s some way you can get answers/be seen sooner.
@NYTino24 Sorry for the issues, so glad you went in! I pray everything works out perfectly for you.
@nitnat007 Yay for everything falling into place!
@meri-mac Hooray for Phase 2!
@jennifer_louise Crossing everything for you for tomorrow & hopefully the IUI this weekend! 🤞🏽
@shoogapoof Hi! Hope you’re able to rejoin the efforts soon.
@mvt2003 Sorry for the strong reaction to your procedure! Hope you’re feeling better now & that the SA yields helpful results.
@inthewoods23 Just thinking of you girl and hoping the rest of this week has looked up a bit for you.
@emeraldduchess I hope you’re feeling a bit better about this cycle despite your rocky chart.
@kiki047 Hi friend, welcome back! I hope your honeymoon was amazing!
ETA: I apologize if I missed anyone!

Don’t know why, but I cried on my way to work. I’m so tired of all of this and we are approaching a year soon. I feel so hard for our friends who have been trying for years and / or have really tough diagnoses.

@kpearse99 yay for young ovaries lol.

But shhh we're not telling people that so it's an unnecessary surprise haha. There's absolutely no reason why we aren't telling people that. I just feel like it I guess for some humor. 🐠🦈🐟

TL:DR: Waaaaah!
