  • @queenklau I’m happy things are on track for you!
We had a prenatal intake with midwife yesterday. Was a great experience. We were there over an hour. She answered a ton of questions, called me an hour after the appointment with the answer to a question about supplements she wasn’t sure about. Got a requisition for all the BW and Urine testing. First dating ultrasound is October 3rd. I’ll be 8+2. I was taking supplements for my anxiety but had to stop for the pregnancy, so I am feeling quite anxious. I keep going into research spirals which is not helping. I just hope everything’s ok in there!
  • @smashley09, I know it can be nerve-wrecking! I can’t imagine how much more if you need to stop your anxiety meds. Are there any options for alternative meds? Or do you have to cut them out all together? Thinking of you. I am sure the little bean is doing great in there!

  • @queenklau
I’ve never been on pharmaceutical meds, so I don’t want to start them. I was taking 5HTP and GABA. Basically, like most things, there’s just no research, so it’s up to me. I’m choosing not to take them. I’m hoping to kick my butt into gear and start exercising again. I was in quite good shape until about a year ago when I got injured at Muay Thai. Took a long time to heal, then life, so haven’t gotten back into it. I’m a nurse and my hospital is offering a free 8week yoga class 2x a week. So I’m going to sign up for that. Get my diet back on track. We lived with my parents for a year while renovating our house, so got used to their crummy habits. Hoping with those changes it’ll be enough. But I think seeing a flickering little heartbeat will be the best medicine!
  • @smashley09 I rely on natural alternatives for my anxiety too. I switch to a low dose pharmaceutical during pregnancy and PP because it gets significantly worse for me PP and a lot of supplements still can’t be taken while nursing. I don’t know if you know that, but just in case you want to explore options especially for PP.
  • @rox7777 it’s definitely something I’ve thought about. This is my first, so I don’t know how PP will be, but with my history I imagine full of anxiety. I’ll probably explore options closer to the end if I’m doing well throughout. Maybe have a script ready in case I need it.
  • @smashley09 I was diagnosed with GAD ten years ago and I’ve struggled with it for years. The first few weeks PP are actually okay for me, it’s usually around months 3-4 that it finally catches up with me. My OB knows my history and usually calls me in something a few days PP just to have on hand. It’s nice just in case it comes out of nowhere.
