@kbrown2385, I'm glad. I still track them, because with DD, I had intensifying BH for about 2 weeks before labor started. Turned out, I was having micro-contractions, which were dilating me. Again, don't be afraid to ask your OB. Better to be sent home than to ignore potential preterm labor.
This pregnancy, I've been feeling them since week 18. UGH.
@kbrown2385 - I never had BH (that I know of) with my first, but this time around, at 15 weeks I noticed I felt a little breathless and uncomfortable in my stomach. I touched it and it was hard like she'd balled up or something. It also felt vaguely familiar. It took me a few times to finally figure out that it felt just like contractions, but without the back pain. They started early, and I've been having several a day since then. They are never regular and never last very long. So I just take it as a sign I need a glass of water and to put my feet up. Usually if you are doing something, stop. If you aren't doing anything, get up and move around and see if they stop.
@kbrown2385 same here I never had them with DD, this time I felt what would be one around the 18 week mark, then a long pause and now again some are starting up randomly. Only on the top of the stomach and it feel's tight
@biolprof@leprechaunlady@marebear15 thank you for your responses. Luckily the nausea only lasted a few days and hasn't been back. I did pass my GTT, so no worries there. Now I'm just dealing with SPD and sciatica. Fun times in the third tri!
Is anyone's nose bleeding more? It's not like a typical nosebleed, but when I blow my nose my (TMI) mucus is bloody or clotty. I mean I know it's dryer out now but still. I've never had this issue before being pregnant.
Second question: anyone have a cat? Our cat hasn't shown interest in the crib yet, but DH is now making me freak out about when the baby arrives and him possibly jumping into the crib and accidentally smothering her. Are we being to paranoid? What did yall do to prevent this from happening?
@stashattack that’s another fun side effect of pregnancy in general. Combined with the drier weather it’s a perfect storm. I’m having similar symptoms 😩
@stashattack we have two cats. We had our male cat, Elvis when ds was born and he didn’t really want anything to do with him. I actually have pictures of ds in the rock and play and Elvis sitting a few feet away staring at him. We never had issues with him jumping on him and trying to smother him anywhere he was. Obviously you will want to watch them but I doubt it will be a major issue.
@kbrown2385 that's what I figured. He's been super indifferent about most of the new stuff coming in, mainly just sniffing stuff and walking away and not bothering the crib at all. The only thing he looked annoyed with was the car seat when I brought that in from the car this weekend LOL. We plan to have her sleep in her pack n play for the first few weeks in our room so I'll definitely be able to keep an eye out there.
@stashattack I will add I never stopped Elvis from being around ds. He was allowed to smell and lay next to etc. all he wanted. They have a really great bond now and I kind of attribute it to letting him have some room to feel ds out on his own. I also think male cats are just more calm in general.
O yeah I plan on letting drogo near her as much as possible outside of crib time. I want him to think of her as another piece of his family. I just worry about the crib in the early months. When she can roll away I'll be less worried about them cosleeping together. Except if he does that I'll miss my personal heater LOL. He usually snuggles with me at night right now.
@stashattack I am the exact same way now, usually in the evenings. I need to turn my humidifier on now. For the cat, I don't know since I don't have one but that's a real thing I believe
@stashattack yes for me on the nose bleeds. I figured it was just me since I have had so many sinus issues.... The nasal rinses and Vaseline in the nose with a qtip help me!
@stashattack, yes on the nosebleeds. I know they're common in pregnancy, altho this is the first time I've gotten them.
Yes on the cat, too. I haven't had an issue with cat trying to sleep with baby until I converted the bed to a toddler bed. They stayed of of it until then.
@stashattack Ditto with the nose bleeding. It started for me when we turned out heat on as well,so I think its a combo of dry air and preggo-ness. We have a cat and he was never really interested in sleeping with the baby. He is mostly obsessed with DH and will lay on top of him over anything else. I was paranoid in the beginning because I heard of things like that happening, but he never attempted to get in with her. I did not let him sleep in our room when she was sleeping in there with us. We also still keep the cat out of DD's room at night, but that is mostly her choice because she doesn't like him in there when she is sleeping.
@stashattack - we have a cat. We just close the door when baby (or kids) are sleeping in bedrooms. It's supposed to be safer in terms of a house fire, it keeps the cat out of the crib, and it keeps the cat from waking them up.
And I don't have nosebleeds now, but I definitely got them with past pregnancies. I think it's normal.
@stashattack Me, too on the nosebleeds. I’m going to try @biolprof ‘s suggestion on the Vaseline to try to help.
Our older cat who was around when DD was a baby never tried to get in her bassinet or crib. We do have a very curious kitten now, though, so I’m going to just have the bassinet set up next to our bed for a month or so before the baby arrives to get him used to it but not allow him in it at all so he doesn’t think it’s fair game to nap in.
Thanks, everyone on your perspectives on your cats and infants! It's really calming me down.
And during birthing class they did say that pregnancy can cause more nosebleeds. So there's our answer there.
I do have another question though. LOL Do your baby's kicks up in your diaphragm cause you to feel nauseous? When she's asleep I feel fine, but after about 20 minutes of her kicking me up in my diaphragm, I start to feel nauseous. And this is kinda annoying LOL
@stashattack, she might be kicking your stomach. DS1 used to do that, and it was part of why I ended up sick right up until the very end. He was literally kicking the food out of me!
@FyreFlyeRush ugh! Her legs are pointed at my right side, so she's definitely not hitting my stomach directly, but I wonder if her stronger movements are causing more of a ripple effect. Blech.
Any STM+ have a baby that didn't want to flip to head down? If yes, when did they finally flip? I know there's still time, but this guy has more or less been in the same position: right side, Complete breech, since week 25, with his head pillowed on my placenta, and kicking to the left. He's always preferred my right side, but used to occasionally move to the left.
@fyreflyerush both of mine have been flipping all over the place. Last week they were both head down, this week they are both breech. I wouldnt stress quite yet. There are different yoga positions you can do to try and get him to flip and there is a site, I believe called spinning babies, that should have good ideas as well.
@FyreFlyeRush my baby has been transverse for at least a month and shows no signs of wanting to leave her preferred position. I know it’s still early but like you am getting nervous since it seems she likes it like that.
My middle daughter took awhile to get head down. I don't remember how late it was, but I remember my family doc mentioning it, and feeling stressed about it. I used the spinning babies website and she eventually turned. I did the same stretch thing with my next baby, and am doing it now. Baby boy wasn't head down last ultrasound. I can't tell if he is now, but I have my next u/s on Thursday. I sometimes feel like I feel his butt near my belly button, but I am bad at recognizing parts.
@MollySm, I can never tell their butts from their heads at this point!! I know sometimes he's transverse, like he's trying to flip. Maybe he's just being his own spinning baby.
@FyreFlyeRush spinning babies can help him flip. They're is also some good info there on trying to map his current position. They talk about what to feel for.
@persnickity, one thing I've figure out is I'm feel his feet move between my hips, low in my pelvic region. It's a strange squigling sensation, kind of unpleasant at times.
Has anyone gone to see a pelvic physiotherapist leading up to the birth? I know I saw one for postpartum but was wondering if anyone did just prior to birth?
Opinion needed. I've been doing a 5k a month since March of last year. I have two more left for this year. I honestly can't recall if I signed up for these last four (with two passed) BEFORE I learned I was pregnant, or in a fit of PGAL anxiety. In either case, I have a 5k coming up this weekend, and another Dec 14. I'll be 29.6 and 33.6, respectively. My mother and partner think I should skip the Dec 14 one, and are encouraging me to skip the one this Sat, too. What do y'all ladies think, especially those due at the end of Jan?
@FyreFlyeRush I think you know your own body best & if you feel youre up to it then go for it. You can make the call a day or 2 beforehand depending on how you feel but I wouldnt not do it just because someone else said so 🤷🏻♀️
@FyreFlyeRush - I agree with leprechaun. Only you can be the judge of how you feel. Obviously make sure it's okay with your OB, but if you don't have any issues like prodromal labor or anything, I wouldn't see what's stopping you. Just keep hydrated and eat lots of protein! I was able to walk a mile a day up until I gave birth at 41 weeks, but I never tried a 5k, so props to you!
@FyreFlyeRush I personally can't do a 5k right now due to pelvic pain but I know lots of people who are able to stay active to the end. Trust your body and do it if you want and not if you don't! Helpful I know!
@FyreFlyeRush As another lover of movement I say just do what feels right and drink lots of water. I work out at home so I can stop as much as I need to. IMHO having to stop and pee so frequently would make me not want to do it.
We ended up skipping the walk, but because it was too cold for my mom. It was supposed to be 45, and ended up being 32. I don't mind. It was nice to be lazy. I still plan to go to the December one as long as I haven't been stopped.
@FyreFlyeRush Eek I would have backed out at 32 degrees, too!
Does anyone have any brands of maternity stockings/tights they like? Now that it’s pretty much always frigid outside, I’m finally going to stop being the crazy person still going to work barelegged in dresses and skirts.
Re: Question Thread
going away after I laid in bed and drank some water.
@FyreFlyeRush thats a good description of it! It was very much in the front and went away after I laid down for a little bit and drank some water.
