@cmbt2 and that's why I didn't bother try to find out sex via blood test!
It really only happens with boys, and usually they say it’s because moms of boys still can have the previous fetus’s cells in her system, but the one I know was never pregnant previously 🤷🏼‍♀️ I haven’t heard of anyone being told girl via the NIPTs (I don’t trust the sneak peak) and it being wrong

Confession. Part of me misses the old TB, back when we could have fun with trolls 😪 ive noticed a lot of changes since the event that mustn’t be named, alas...

And I also see bfp posts aren’t a thing on TTGP anymore. I loved reading those, especially when it was someone who struggled for so long finally getting one
I will say I spend wayyyyyy less time on TB (which is probably a good thing), compared to my first in 2012- oh the drama that would go on 😆
Right?? I’d spend hours just reading what went on on the other boards. We had our own drama stirrers, too, but my favorite threads were the trolling Tuesday threads
    I super miss Old Parenting.

When people make a spectacle of the sex based on early US, I always hope they are wrong 🤷‍♀️
We had a woman on Jan’15 who was told girl at her A/S and went for a 30w+ growth scan... guess what? Tech discovered that it was a boy. So, when I see someone say they found out via ultrasound before 15w (which is the earliest you can definitely see), I always am like “yeah, about that... Congrats on your [insert opposite sex]!”

i also know someone’s who’s NIPT said boy and, surprise, it was a girl, which is why I always hope the ones who get told boy get it confirmed at their A/S. It’s rare, but it does happen
Seriously! I hate when people are like you can know at 14/15 weeks .sure you can, but it's way less accurate than waiting til past 20 weeks so have fun! However I have a friend that was told her whole pregnancy girl girl girl and had a boy 😂 he just was hiding. I was worried DD wasn't a girl cause they flashed past it so fast and never took the "picture" of it cause she was rushing through (I was already 6 months along when we discovered her so she was trying to be thorough)

  • I knew I should've stayed Team Green  :D I keep hearing stories like this so now I'm not going to fully believe anyone until this baby is born.
  • @andromedacorrine2 you were 6 months pregnant when you found out you were pregnant?  Sorry if I read your post wrong.

Yes with DD, I had started a brand new job, fiance had lost his, I was beyond stressed being on a whole new schedule than what I was used to and trying to figure out what we're gonna do so I thought I was just gaining alot of weight. My Dr thought I had ppd cause DS was just over a year and I had alot of stomach issues and stress. Turns out I was pregnant with her! I also didn't get any period after DS cause of breastfeeding and I have weird complications with BC. So I didn't track then (that's what I do now, track cycles). Big lesson learned there. I had no signs of pregnancy other than the weight gain though and I thought it was just me stress eating.

I had a friend in high school actually go into labor at 35 weeks, she had no idea either. She had ovarian cyst issues and bad cy les and her Dr told her she would have a super hard time ever getting pregnant anyway. She has 2 boys now, but her last pregnancy nearly killed her so she had her tubes tied after him.
Another friend of mine was actually pregnant with me at the same time as DS. We were a month apart. She had no idea she was pregnant either cause she was switching from DEPO to pill to IUD and got pregnant while on the pill. She was horribly sick for about 3 months, throwing up nasty dark brown stuff(we worked together, ending up throwing up in the bathroom together alot actually) and all the pregnancy tests she took, including a blood test came back negative cause she was still on her BC. After they discovered her 7 months along she had a lot of testing and Dr visits but her baby was perfectly healthy, 8lb 4oz! She had a horrible time with that pregnancy.

@andromedacorrine2 you’re not the only person I “know” who found out late! That’s a crazy one with your friend never turning a positive test, though!

would you believe me if I told you I know a woman who found out at 26/28w? She ended up with Irish triplets 🙈 (she had twins and the surprise was a singleton, born 11 months apart)

  • @cmbt2 @andromedacorrine2 Six months!! 26 weeks!! That’s basically the end! ...and I also know someone with Irish triplets. Twins first and a single exactly 11 months later to the day. BUT she certainly knew she was pregnant at some point in the first trimester despite that second pregnancy being a major surprise. Six+ months of not knowing kind of blows my mind.

  • UO: Team snacks are dumb. If I want my kid to have a snack after the game, I’ll bring him one. And it’s hard to come up with a “fun” snack that is allergy friendly and not full of sugar
Yes!! I hate the pressure of finding the “healthy snack” every kid will want to eat too. My son plays soccer, it’s an hour long game... they aren’t going to survive without snacks for an hour?

Thank you!  I thought I was being a mean mom.  But my kid just turned 5 and spends much of the game picking at grass.  He will be fine without a Gatorade and fruit snacks full of sugar.

    Yup!!
  • @cmbt2 yikes I'd cry! I want twins, but not 11 months apart!
@junebabyh it was definitely more stress added on, we were already in such a bad spot and he was working 2 jobs back to back (third shift to first home to sleep then back again) and we lived in a small apartment. But it all eventually worked out! I had no symptoms with DD, no morning sickness, no heartburn. I was honestly probably about 20 weeks when she started moving around but I didn't get into the Drs til 24 weeks. The ultrasound tech was like "yep there's a baby there" I was praying it was 2 and I wasn't that far along! She came out perfectly healthy though.
My friend's, they were super worried cause they had her continue her BC when no pregnancy tests were positive, then thought she was allergic to it with all the sickness she had. She also turned 21 that year and went out for her birthday and they did so many tests on her. She was about 27 weeks when she figured out she was pregnant, her baby started jumping around and she went to the ER.  She was induced for labor at 40 weeks cause she had pre eclampsia and had a stroke while inducing, then again during her C-section.
It's actually a much more common thing than people realize. Most people think, well don't you have morning sickness or realize you miss your cycle? I won't ever be going back on BC cause it causes severe depression and a few other complications for me, including irregular cycles actually. But after this baby, SO wants to get snipped so I told him I'm all for that.

Same here, I really do not want to go back on the pill. I tried the Nuva ring and I did not like it. I was tossing around the idea of an IUD but I don't like the idea of it getting lost....I'm thinking about just getting my tubes tied, but I haven't talked to Hubs yet.

I’ve had 3 IUDs, and I’m just done with them, though I have no complaints about the copper ones. I tried the pill, shot, and arm implant, and all caused horrible acne and major mood instability; not to mention irregular cycles or periods that would last a month.

H is getting snipped while I’m on maternityb leave. I’d like to get my tubes removed (not tied), but since it requires going under general anesthesia, that’s a no go for me.

  • I have a friend who each of her kids were from different birth control methods. Condom, pill, patch, and IUD. She had her tubes tied during her last c-section, and her husband got snipped too. They're hopeful that'll do the trick.

I want to get my tubes tied when this one is born and it'll likely be a CS, so they should be able to do that at the same time, at least that's what my Dr said. Maybe the removal requires general anesthesia? In case of a VBAC then SO is going to get snipped. When the midwife came for her introductory home visit on Tuesday she practically gave SO a medal for being so normal about it. She said German men until up to a couple of years ago were very anti-vasectomy.

Since I’ll most likely be vaginal, it’s general for any form of sterilization procedure because it is done separately

ETA- if it was a c section, then yes, they could do it at the same time with just a spinal

  • Everyone wants me to get my tubes tied and I already suck at pain management so nah. He wants to. His dad and BIL had it done and both  told him it's not really that bad. I've been on 3 different doses of pill since I was 18. The mini pill was the most effect for stabilizing my moods, but not as effective for babies. My mom had severe reproductive problems with DEPO to where she had to be on the pill to even get pregnant again, hence why my sister and I are nearly 10 years apart. My aunt is a nurse, and on top of it a "everything that is possible will go wrong"(we had just told her we were pregnant with DS and first thing she said "if you have a heart attack(I don't remember the term she used) I want you flown to my hospital immediately) and told me to avoid the arm implant. I was going to do an IUD but I know 3 women on the mirena that got pregnant and lost their baby. One being a close cousin of ours. I know it's not possible for everyone but I'd rather not risk it with them. Not to mention if just the pill causes depression in me, I don't want to know what a longer term BC would do.

  • @andromedacorrine2, holy moly you know a LOT of people who have gotten pregnant while on some form of birth control.

Unfortunately. I'm not very trusting of BC anymore. Hence why I track my cycles now. That's worked alot better for me, I actually think I pinned down conception date for this baby! My doctor was pretty proud of me! Shes been there through alot of my BC issues too. So she understands why I want to avoid it. Our cousins(shes actually SO cousin but I love their family so I consider her mine too) was just last year, her baby would be the same age as our niece if she had survived. They were due a week apart.

Agreed. I am mainly referring to the pill, but there is still room for user error with IUDs (like checking for strings/placement), although agreeably, much less.

I guess that sounds pretty trolly. I should clarify I live in a small area, all the town's round here are pretty familiar with each other. My high school was one of the bigger classes in the area and we still all know each other pretty well or through social media stay in contact. 2 of the IUD ones I know from work and then our cousin. The other was a girl from high school. I know 2 out of the 3 lost their babies due to actually knowing them. One lost hers early on and the other gave birth at 4 months to a stillborn baby. The other one I couldn't say for sure although I believe she did. She posts alot about infant loss. I know a few people that needed the pill to get pregnant after complications. My friend went on the pill to switch to IUD after DEPO and she did miss one day of the pill as she wasn't used to it. IUDs, even though long term, can move or lose their hormone potency. I know several people that had good luck with the copper ones though.
