Re: TTGP Grad Check-in March 2019

  • Thanks for starting this! I have gotten so bad about my weekly check-in :/

What's going on this month? Not a ton for me. DH is a financial advisor and always ends up working late during tax season, so I'm ready for this period to pass.

How far along are you? 15+3

Anyone have an appointments? Regular OB visit next Thursday. I don't think we have an ultrasound at this one.

Cravings/Symptoms? No cravings. I started leaking colostrum last night, so that's cool...  :| i just assumed that didn't happen until at least the third tri.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? A high school girl at our church knitted (or crocheted? I don't know the difference) a gorgeous blanket for our baby out of that really thick, cushiony yarn. She is the actual sweetest.

Questions? Is anyone else's OB pretty lax on "rules" during pregnancy? The only thing mine has told me to avoid (other than drinking or doing any illegal drugs, of course) is changing the litter box. Most of my friends' OBs have told them to avoid hot baths, hot tubs, deli meats, nitrates, sushi/any under cooked meats or eggs, etc.

GTKY: Spring officially starts later this month, what (if anything) do you love about this season? What about hate? I love all of the rain we get where we live in the spring! Also because I can usually finally start wearing cute shoes again.

  • @oklahomak My OB is definitely pretty lax. She sent us home with a list of stuff to avoid at our first appt, but it was all standard stuff and she didn’t really talk about it so she didn’t seem concerned. I had to get a filling redone in my tooth during 1st tri and asked her whether I should wait and she looked at me like I was crazy for even worrying about it. Also, that blanket sounds awesome!! I love how crafty people can create such thoughtful gifts. My MIL is working on a quilt and two coworkers have told me they are knitting something for her.

What's going on this month? We just reserved our spot in daycare for January 2020! It’s close to our house, highly recommended, and super flexible around our work scheduled which will save us a ton of money. We’re thrilled! Daycare was one of my biggest worries so that’s one big thing to check off my list!

How far along are you? 14+6

Anyone have an appointments? 16wk appt on 3/18, just doing a blood draw for AFP and hopefully Doppler (with success this time)

Cravings/Symptoms? I asked H to pick up some dark chocolate with raspberry filling 😋 Otherwise no strong symptoms or cravings, just tired!

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I just found out that I can get 6 credits for an independent study I am planning to do this summer, which will put me just 1 class away from finishing my second graduate degree by the time baby comes (instead of 3 classes away)! I’m really happy bc it’s way more likely I’ll actually finish the degree if I only have one more class to take, even though it will be much more work once we have a LO.

Questions? Is anyone working on their nursery?? I want to go into full nesting mode but have to wait until July for most of the stuff!

GTKY: Spring officially starts later this month, what (if anything) do you love about this season? what about hate? I looooove the weather! The vibe at the end of the school year is fun and exciting (once we get through all the state testing at least 🙄).
  • @dogmomma096 Congrats on getting a spot at a great daycare!! That is huge, and I really had no idea how early it was recommended to start looking. The one we want has a 12-18 month waiting list. We're on it, but need to find something to fill the gap from December-whenever a spot opens for him.

That is too sweet of your mom and coworkers! Handmade blankets are so special. I'm starting to work on the nursery, but can't decide on a paint color, which is really slowing things down. You have those great botanical prints, right (at least, I thought that was you!)? What else have you found/are you planning to do in her room?
  • @oklahomak No, I remember seeing those but can’t remember whose they were! We are doing a zoo animal theme, and keeping the paint on the walls (light brown) since we painted when we moved in 2 yrs ago. We have the crib and dresser already thanks to our moms, and we bought a rug and a little elephant lamp. We put the glider on our registry but will buy it ourselves if it is left after the showed in July. I’ve seen some cute prints with zoo animals that have sayings like “Be brave” and “Stand tall”, plus I want to get some with #girlpower quotes!

  • @oklahomak I don’t think mine has actually told me to avoid anything. Maybe it’s because I seem to know what I’m doing (ha!).

@dogmomma096 I want to get started on our nursery but it’s still a junk room right now. I need to get in there during spring break

What's going on this month? It’s spring break!  I’m so ready for a break

How far along are you? 16 weeks today

Anyone have an appointments? First MFM appt on Tuesday then my first GD test on 3/20

Cravings/Symptoms? No cravings. And only headaches as a symptom

Rants/Raves/Randoms? I’m never good at thinking of these!

    Questions?

GTKY: Spring officially starts later this month, what (if anything) do you love about this season? what about hate? I love that it’s closer to summer break.  I hate that it’s hot during the day but cooler at night. So if I’m out all day, it’s hard to dress

@oklahomak Mine gave me a sheet & told me not too get to worried. She did say the king macrel & tilefish was probably most important, though. Neither of which I eat regularly.

@dogmomma096 That’s such a relief to know you’ll almost be done with school!

@purplg8r It’s absurd to me that you’re on Spring Break!  It has been snowing & raining this week.
