@meggyme yes! After dealing with post-nursing boobs, I’m loving pregnancy boobs!

@lelkcot MH says he wants to take a picture of them this time so I can get implants that look exactly like they do while I'm nursing. Haha. I don't know that I'd be up for cosmetic surgery OR boobs that big permanently.

@meggyme DH said the same thing several times about nursing morning boobs. I always use to tell him I wanted a lift post kids, nows he’s totally on board, but is pulling for nursing-morning-boob-size (which I’m so not game for)  :D
  • Options
Mine are already big (like G-H sized) so far they haven't expanded...but i am NOT looking forward to how huge they will be LOL.
  • Options
I was big to begin with (40d) and I’m already 44ddd at almost halfway. I’m hoping for some shrinkage post nursing, tbh!

Hey, all! I've been MIA with a crazy schedule lately, but things are back to normal this week. I didn't want to just AW post and not be able to comment/give support...ANYWAY, I'm back.

I can't believe we are at or nearing the half-way mark! It does not seem possible.

In boob related news, my husband is a barber and it's not uncommon for him to get hair splinters or for me to get them either just by being around him. My nipple was sore for a few days and finally last night I saw the tiniest little hair splinter sticking out of it. First of all, YUCK. Second of all, OUCH.
  • Options
@swanbrooner I did not know that was a thing, but yes, ouch! I'm glad you're back and hair splinter free!

MH has made it a point to make comments about my boobs growing. *exaggerated eye role* If I could keep the size they've grown to and lose the belly weight after baby I'd be a happy camper. I'm by no means complaining because they aren't obnoxious yet, but definitely make my clothes look slightly better. The only complaint I have is finding real bras that fit right. It feels darn near impossible. I've been living in nursing sporting bras and they have felt the best, but limit the type of shirts that I can wear.

We have two sleeping beauties in heaven.
Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016.
Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015.
They will be forever missed. <3

@swanbrooner welcome back! I cut my husband's hair and he has the thickest, stick straight hair of anyone I know. I can definitely sympathize with the unpleasantness and weirdness of hair splinters. Ouch! Here's hoping my baby boy gets at least some of my softer hair genetics...

I had a routine appointment with my midwife today. I am 22 weeks and I have gained 20 pounds, (damn office scale was 3 pounds heavier than mine at home!). I got a bit of a talking to about it and it’s put me in such a sour mood. She said if I continue like this I may gain 40 pounds and that extra weight gain will make labor more difficult.

I am eating healthy, with a few splurges, and exercising regularly. I ran a half marathon at the beginning of the month. My previous midwife never cared about the scale as long as I was practicing healthy habits. I know it’s her job to tell me these things, but I mean, what am I supposed to do, go on a diet?  :/

Sorry for the rant. I feel better now getting it off my chest.

Saw this last night and it made me laugh. I am a whole lot of Amy with a pinch of Jessica and Kim. What about everyone else??

Ugh @maggiemadeit that is so frustrating, I'm sorry to hear it. It sounds like you are doing all the right things, so I wouldn't even worry about the scale. Doctors and midwives seem to have become programmed to be more concerned with gaining too much weight than they should be. First of all, @meggyme is right, there is no reason to be more concerned with gaining 40 lbs over the "recommended" 35. Some women gain 50 or more and are perfectly healthy; some gain less. But to be honest, gaining too little can have far more serious health implications for baby than gaining too much, so the fact that people get scolded for putting on weight is sad and can have unintended consequences of actually making people scared to put on weight at all. ALSO, people gain weight at way different rates throughout pregnancy - some gain a lot in the second trimester and have a much harder time gaining any at all in the third, once their stomach becomes all squished and heartburn becomes more common. That "pound a week" is total BS. So anyway, forget about your midwife, and keep doing what you're doing - eat healthy overall, exercise, and don't feel bad about splurging!!

@maggiemadeit I’m so sorry they made you double think about your weight! I’m up 20lbs and my midwife was ‘like, great, right on track.’ I would be so pissed if told else wise!

My random is I need a nice warm maternity coat, where the hell do I get one?

@maggiemadeitBoo for your midwife giving you grief about it. I’d agree with the other ladies, so long as you’re taking care of yourself than I think you’re fine! if it makes you feel any better I  was up 20 lbs based on their scale too (15 on mine at home, which is what I’m sticking with), and while my OB didn’t say anything, in response to my wincing at the number the “sweet” nurse said “you know you’re just going to keep gaining, right?” Like, no lady, I just have a toddler clinging to my leg, but I had no clue pregnancy involved weight gain!

I was big-chested already, I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.

This pregnancy has turned me into an Amy. She came out royally a little while ago while I cleaned "play slime" out of a rug. I used to be a fly-by-the-seat of my pants Melissa with a touch of Nicole (comfy shoes are where it's at in my world). DH is the big bed time enforcer, and I'm not sorry, but it saves my sanity. We didn't use to have one before DD1 started school.

I’m Lisa / Nicole with a pinch of Amy, but I do try to substitute cuss words for things like “sugar” since I cuss so much at work with my sailor coworkers. Big-ish boobs normally and super over how big they are now, especially with grabby DH and how tender/sore they are lately. Boo to weight gain shaming!
My random is that we did Santa photos today & then went trick or treating at the local elementary trunk or treat event. It was a pretty good day despite no nap, fear of Santa, and tons of sugar!

@maggiemadeit I hate the weight shaming. I’m plus size to begin with so it’s all I hear about at most drs appts anyway but it never fails to piss me off when I’m told “you’re already heavy so don’t gain any weight.” Like, that’s not how it works. At all. I gained about 35-40 with both my kids and my weight didn’t impact my labor or delivery at all. So don’t fret girl. As long as you are taking care of yourself then forget what she says about weight gain. Every body is different and will react differently to pregnancy <3

@maggiemadeit I’m a prime example how weight gain doesn’t show the whole picture! I was having a fine pregnancy and had only gained a few lbs. when I was diagnosed with GD that doesn’t even run in my family. I later was hit with HBP and honestly I hardly gained anything in my pregnancy every appointment I was up 3 lbs or down 2 the next. I think in total I gained 7 lbs and my baby weighed 6 lb 12 oz (plus fluid , placenta, etc). I wasn’t gaining much weight but I was clearly very sick. I have friends who gained a lot more weight than I ever did and they never had any of the health issues I did. It sounds like you are being healthy and responsible I wouldn’t stress it. As moms we already have enough to worry/stress about no sense in adding all that on to it as well.

@maggiemadeit I gained 20lbs with DD by this point and a total of 50lbs by the end. No labor issues per say. I did end up with hbp at the end and was induced but I don’t know that it was related to the weight, I had a lot of stress in my life at the time. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Everyone is different.

@maggiemadeit some people just have big babies. I have a friend that was induced at 38 weeks because her baby looked so big and he ended up being as big as my 8lb13oz baby with 3 more weeks to grow. All you can do is keep doing what you're doing and hope for the best. Can you talk with your midwife about your feelings regarding this? They might be able to offer some reassurance, but at the very least they'll know to be more sensitive to your (I hesitate to call it) birth disappointment from last time.

@meggyme Thank you. My family is very big/tall and my grandma had 5 kids all between 10 and 12 pounds, so I am inclined to believe that I may be one of those people who has big babies, my daughter is still in the 90th percentile at almost 3, so she’s still a big kid.

We talked a lot about VBAC yesterday and I hope that I made myself clear enough about why I really want one, and how bad it was for me last time. They are supportive and want to give me every opportunity to make it happen, so I feel good about that, even if this particular midwife was lacking some bedside manner.

@maggiemadeit if you like podcasts, I just listened to one yesterday to get pumped for my own VBAC. Babies and Babes episode 35. It's the birth story of a woman who was told her babies were too big but did two VBACs including one unexpectedly at home :)

NYC gets all the cool stuff - they have 2 Reese exchange machines there where you can trade in the Halloween candy you don’t want for Reese! (Or, you know, you can just  buy some Reese... but far less amusing)

@lelkcot How much Reese for a 2nd born child? (kidding)

Despite updating my driver's license and voting registration in February this year, I have to go to the election commission and get my name changed. My name has been changed since 2015. In the 2016 election, my address was wrong, name was correct. I thought updating my voter registration with my license would fix all that this year. Nope. Oh, and both times, my voter registration cards were mailed to my current address and were correct. I can't find the damn things to prove it, though. Good thing I checked, though. I would be out of luck otherwise as tomorrow is the last day I can change it. /end rant

@BuckeyeNut05 some people are in serious denial! There’s was a whole thread once over on TTGP about “cryptic pregnancy” where one would be pregnant for years, but never turn a test or be detectable on ultrasound...

@BuckeyeNut05 have you heard of cryptic pregnancies? There is a website on one of these with a "support group" that is absolutely delusional and really, really sad.
