Re: I like to move it, move it {Baby Movement Thread}

  • I do feel kicks, they are sporadic. I got anterior placenta this time and last time I didn’t, I feel like I had more kicks at this point last time. Tip for FTMs: babies kick best when you are still, eating particularly something sweet, or if you drink a cold drink, like ice water.

  • This baby is way more active than DD was (I had an anterior placenta with both). Some of it I think has to do with DD waking her up more haha. She definitely seems to respond to her (often loud) voice. It’s so cute!

I was wondering why I could feel baby so well since I’ve known I have an anterior placenta since my NT scan. Turns out the placenta is so low I can feel baby kick above it!

My lil guy is extremely active. I don’t feel much if I lay down or stand up straight, but if I sit down and slouch slightly, he’ll start moving around pretty much immediately. I can feel it on the outside occasionally and I saw my belly move once, but I still haven’t managed to get H to see or feel anything. Soon!

  • Mine used to be on a 12 hr schedule (4am and 4 pm) but this week it seems like he’s constantly wiggling, especially around meal time
  • I have nothing to compare to but it seems like this baby is super wiggly! DH first felt it a few weeks ago but this last weekend I think he finally got distinctive kicks.
I get good solid kicks first thing in the morning and last thing at night but now more and more throughout the day. It feels so personal and intimate because only I know it's happening - I love it!
I feel ultra lucky that I felt it as early as I did
  • Tons of movement. Kicks, rolls, all over the place. I swear this weekend she didn't take a break. And every time I wake up during the night to switch positions she moves, like she has to get comfortable again!
The boys are loving that they can see the alien baby moves from the outside now.
I can feel her everywhere from kicks to the cervix and bladder up to above my belly button so she's taking advantage of her space!
  • Definitely feeling some movement.  DH hasn't caught a kick yet, I've really only felt anything on the outside a few times so far and all the kicks are really low.  I had Anterior placenta with DD and again this time but they said it was really high up so I assume this is might be why I'm feeling more than last time.
  • I have pretty active babies apparently, I can literally see elbows and feet poke out of my stomach. I’m 24 weeks tomorrow though so I’m at the top end of the month
  • Having a dance party up around my ribs while we sit at the car dealership awaiting winter tires... yep winter tires!!
  • I'm like @grebretso: I feel the most movement when I'm a little slouched in my chair (hooray for bad posture!).
I only feel movement a couple of times each day, and I think a lot of that is due to my anterior placenta. I've felt outside movement twice, but H hasn't yet. Soon, hopefully! For reference, I'm a FTM, 21w4d.
  • This baby is living the insomnia life right alongside me. I get lots of flips and squirms while I’m up in the middle of the night. Hopefully this isn’t indicative of things to come.

Otherwise it’s super kicky at night of course and I may or may not fess up to eating sugar just to get more movement...
  • @megpants209 i did not request jellybeans for that purpose the first week i felt kicks  o:)
  • I have been feeling so many kicks today first they were directly on my bladder and now they are more in the center on my belly. I did have a little caffeine this morning which made him very active. Now as I’m eating lunch he is doing all sorts of things in there. Loving every second of these tiny kicks!
  • I felt my first fetal movement around 16.5 weeks and it became regular probably around week 19. I noticed certain sitting positions when LO is squashed or when I lie down flat, LO moves around almost on cue. DH felt a small kick a couple nights ago which was cool.
With DS, I had an anterior placenta and felt first kicks around 21 weeks and DH felt them around 22 weeks, and with DD, I felt her first kick around 13 weeks and DH felt it around 21 weeks.

  • @megpants209 - My first two were super active in utero at night and actually slept pretty well, even as newborns. I figure I have terrible pregnancies so I get easy babies.

  • @kayjay44 that was my daughter too, so active in utero but an amazing sleeper and so calm on the outside. I’m hoping the terrible pregnancy, easy baby is also true this time
  • That's super reassuring, @kayjay44 and @lifeislove87!
  • I just had a new feeling: four or five times in the course of about three minutes, I felt a weird pulse/throb right at my cervix. It wasn't painful, just really weird feeling. And each one was very quick, no pressure or anything. Could baby be kicking my cervix? Has anyone else felt this?
  • I’m pretty sure I’ve felt movement. I’m a STM at 19w5d. I think it’s movement at least. I should pay closer attention this time. I never knew how DS was positioned, what body part was moving around, etc but I never really tried to figure it out. I plan to try and figure that out more this time.

  • @hannahbananas11 - could be the start of lightning crotch. My LO is head down (my kids are always head down) and even that can be enough to trigger mine if they move against it.

  • @hannahbananas11 The throb part sounds like baby to me. I usually feel like I'm being thumped on the inside early on. Lightning crotch has always felt painful and sharp to me. Baby moving is slower and dull feeling(at least while they're still small), if that makes sense.

Yup! Thumps on the inside is how I’d describe a majority of movement I feel.

  • @kayjay44 Mine's head down too! No lightning crotch yet, but I've felt a light pressure on the bottom of my uterus occasionally for a while. As soon as I saw how far down his head was, I was like "ah that makes sense". He kept shoving his head into the placenta during the entire AS, so much so that they had a hard time getting good images of both the placenta and his face. Weirdo kid.

  • This baby is so different from how DS moved. She doesn’t kick at any consistent time of day, whereas I could always count on DS to freak out every night around the same time. This little lady mostly just wants to kick when something’s pushing into her space.
  • Mine’s currently pushing off the top of my uterus and shoving his head into my cervix. It feels like he’s trying to climb out. To say it’s unpleasant would be an understatement.

  • @kayjay44 I had the same feeling a week or so ago! I was like what the F is this kid doing, trying to get out?!
  • @kayjay44 same! I used to think it strange when someone would say it felt like the baby may fall out but here I am, feeling like he wants to jump out .

He is active non-stop. Very strong hits too. The tech at the AS said he is front and center head down of course. He loves to hit and not kick so much but roll. Lord all of the rolling. In the middle of the AS he rolled very dramatically and the tech "lost" him for a bit till he rolled back. She said we will have our hands full.... Sitting at only 21 weeks and I am getting the feeling of the hits and kicks enough to make me pause even while working. Curious what will happen as we progress. Hubby can feel it but very faintly. Not enough to get super excited about. And baby is having a dance party as I type this..
  • Nothing here yet. My doctor has said he didn't think i'd feel anything for a few more weeks but i'm getting such anxiety about it! I'm currently 22 weeks and every time i think I feel something....more gas.  :p
  • @megpants209 and @hnbergeron - both of my other kids were this way too, which is likely what triggered all the false/prodromal labor later on (4 weeks with DD, 6 weeks with DS). It's also why they were both born with bruised heads. Luckily, I had pretty quick, uneventful labors with both because of it too.

  • with DS (as a FTM) I definitely didn't feel movement until like 24-26 weeks so it's not uncommon.  Now, I am pretty positive I felt movement at 14 weeks because I knew what it was.  LO moves around a lot but doesn't give me too many swift hard kicks.  I don't mind the little flutters and tip taps on the inside though - reminds me that he's there!! He also does NOT like the ultrasound wand and moves like crazy haha.

  • FTM 22 weeks and I have been feeling her move since week 20. Hubby has gotten to feel some kicks. Baby girl is always kicking on my right side because she is laying sideways (I read that eventually she'll turn head down I hope). Saw movement from the outside a couple of days ago!

Yesterday she was kicking while I was watching my friend's kids in Jujitsu class, so I think she's gonna be active!  :p
  • I’m 21 weeks today but I’ve been feeling the movement for about a month. It’s getting stronger and even more frequent every day and last night my boyfriend felt a strong kick for the first time! A few days ago he kicked me so hard that I jumped! It’s a crazy feeling since this is my first baby. And today I felt a weird vibration almost like a tiny seizure in my uterus, do any of you know what that is?
  • FTM, 22 weeks, have been feeling baby kick since 18 weeks, placenta is in the back so I've been feeling a lot! I've been able to see the stronger kicks outside my body for a week or two now but only every so often. Still hard to get DH to feel them though :( they're still pretty random/sporadic and stop when I press on my tummy lol. Baby boy is shy.
  • Think we had some hiccups today. Either that or the most perfectly timed kicks ever.
  • I think baby got upset when I was in the dentist chair this morning. She kicked like crazy and when I stood up I swear I felt bruised!
