Re: Randoms 9/17

  • @nopegoat I definitely watched NB videos of DS last night before bed and had all the feels and got even more excited

  • @nopegoat I love your goat hahah

@expandcontract Child care is so hard! My DD would do great at daycare all 5 days, but to save $$ we're juggling both MILs watching her a couple days a week, so I have to drive the face of the earth all before going to work. Safe to say I'm always late. It will be worth it to get a house.

This weekend I was in one of my best friend's wedding, and holy moly I still felt just as hungover as everyone else even though I obviously wasn't drinking. I can't hang past midnight anymore and was soooo tired.

  • @nopegoat Those are the cutest cheeks!! <3 I have a 2 year old, and I’m a little nervous about going back to square one again too. He doesn’t always sleep through the night, but he does most of the time. I feel like I’m just now starting to not be completely exhausted, and now, here we go again. I’ve also been emotional and have Mom guilt already about bringing another baby into the mix, and DS not getting the attention he’s use to.  :( But I’m still so so excited, and DS will eventually warm up to a baby.. hopefully..
  • @secicc12 @vivereidescent So sorry your LOs having tough times with molars. I couldn't imagine how that would feel. Tbh I'm not even sure my DD will actually have molars at any point in her toddler life... She has only two sets of front teeth at 15 months and that's it. She seems pretty comfortable with them but I'm starting to worry she may have to have a very long teething phase later on.
  • @DuchessOfCambridge yes! All the feels!

    @SpaceBurger thank you! He's a mess!

@msb615 mom guilt is so real and sucky. I remember feeling it so much when I got pregnant with my 2nd. Kids adjust so much easier than we give them credit for. While my boys do fight occasionally they are best friends and really do love each other. It will be OK! ❤️

  • @JennZed omg that's so cute! I love that she had it with her every time she saw you!

@k2k2tog Scholastic book fairs were my faaaavourite when I was a kid! Have fun picking books for your library! :)

Went to a wedding this weekend with my parents and my sister so we told them I was pregnant...it would have been impossible to hide my not drinking from them! They were very excited, it will be the first grandchild for my parents. My sister shrieked and then went running to her suitcase and pulled out a onesie she apparently bought for me like, five years ago, and has been carrying around every time she is going to see me (holidays, family vacations, etc) in case I announced I was pregnant and it finally paid off.
I love that your sister took it everywhere with her just incase. Awwww

  • @JennZed Aww, I love that your sister took the onesie with her anytime she would see you. That’s so sweet!
  • @JennZed your sister is seriously the sweetest! What did the onesie say, or was it just a cute baby item?

@psychobutthead haha you are super creative! We just called DD "baby" so that we didn't say "it." I need to take some inspiration from you!

Anyone else thinking about timing of maternity leave and baby moons (I hate that phrase, sorry)? There's a conference every year I actually really wanted to go to in August that I'll be out for - this was planned and I didn't want to put off trying so that I'd be able to go. Now I'm doing crazy math and logistics planning in my head to see if there's a way to make it work from a business value, my sanity, and the baby's best interest perspective if I split my leave by going back for a month.

@poshspice they are never going to leave you alone, lol! I still have dealerships from 5 yrs ago that still call/ email me.  #annoyingAF
@expandcontract omg it's so much worse today. 10 missed calls from dealers! Ugh! And tons of emails. I just wanted to look at prices lol. Sucha mistake!

@JennZed that is seriously the cutest thing ever.  <3

  • Ugh, childcare is the worst! I struggled for so long to find somewhere for Chickpea (9/16 baby), and now they are closed! The woman who runs it out of her home, still state liscensed, is moving back to Italy after her brother's death. I feel bad for her and all, but it has left us in a bit of a pinch. I spent all afternoon, when I wasn't teaching, calling everyone I know and every lead they offered. I did end up finding somewhere that I like, but it's of course more expensive. I don't want to complain too much because it would be way worse to still be looking, but ugh. Not how I wanted to spend my prep time today.
  • Dealing dealing with military drs is such a clusterfork sometimes. Finally heard back from
my primary and got a blood draw. Lets hope the referral doesn’t take too long.
  • @psychobutthead my dad called me goober up until I was like... ugh... 24 lol

@JennZed that is the cutest thing I’ve ever heard!
  • @JennZed your sister sounds so thoughtful OMG!!! What a sweet gesture  <3.

My sister cried. Hard. (not happy tears) and stormed out of my house when she found out I was pregnant with DD! But You can’t always plan how long it will take!  she was worried it would compete with her wedding- (DD was born two months before her wedding).  Flash forward to today and she is the best most supportive aunt ever.
  • @nopegoat that picture of your goat seriously made my day!! So effing hilarious! Of course your baby is cute,  too. But I was not expecting the goat.

@JennZed For realz?! She carried it around for 5 years?! Omg such a sweetheart.

@SpaceBurger thank you for the support.

I had a very long day today and am immensely pooped. So,  i don't have much to say,  but I'll be reading and lovetitting everyone else's posts.

I feel you! We had a TERRIBLE time finding reliable childcare when I went back to work after DD2. We bounced from a part time home daycare/my mom to a full time home daycare that kept canceling on us and couldn't handle DD1's developmentally normal temper tantrums, and finally to a centre that we have loved. Good childcare is so hard to figure out and such a huge stress. I'm glad it's going to all work out for you even if it is more expensive.

  • Has anyone tried any of the maternity jeans on Zulily? They're so cheap but it's a gamble to order without having any idea how they fit!

Then he'll probably call your baby Goobie. lol

I guess I'm just weird I have always had nicknames for my kids and husband. I guess because I have never had a nickname. No one has ever called me something other than my first name and the occasional babe from DH.

  • @psychobutthead he had special nicknames for all his kids and I always loved it. I will continue it too. My daughter is “skittle”!  <3 no reason for that name really, just seemed to fit!

I shop Zulily quite a lot, but you always always always have to look up the actual brand of stuff to see if it's reliable. They are just a reseller, and when you click on the item, there should be a brand listed below. Stuff can be really hit or miss.

  • @DuchessOfCambridge Don't judge me, but for my last pregnancy, I bought my maternity pants from Poshmark. I love Joe's and Hudson's, but refuse to pay full price for jeans I'll only wear for a few months. You can find both new and pre-worn.
  • @kbrown2385, we're military too. It's a small base though so I just need to walk in and pee in a cup lol. Then they call me all excited to share that I'm pregnant and setup my referral. I'm like duh I took a thousand tests at home, it's not like theirs would be different! Hopefully you can get the ball moving!

@poshspice, we're looking for a minivan too! I use cargurus.com. just tell those dealerships you already bought a car lol. Hope they stop calling soon!

I bought tons of maternity dresses from Poshmark last time, I only celebrate, never judge getting a good deal. (Is there something to judge about Poshmark that I don’t know about?”

  • @ElleJDubs we just left a base like that! Now we are at a huge one and I’m just nervous about the quality of care. Of course I ask people’s opinions on the facility and get all the bad. I don’t know why I do that to myself lol. *Tw* with my loss history I just want things done ASAP and I’m not sure they are on the same page as me yet *end tw*
  • I literally think my toddler is trying to kill me. Perhaps he is mad that I'm knocked up?  Why wont the kid just sleep? So so GD tired.

also @vivereidescent off to check the intro thread......

No, Poshmark is great. I was secretly thinking that I totally go for the pre-worn jeans because they're cheaper and already broken in. I'm usually kind of a clothes snob, so it's my dirty little secret - I'm all about second hand maternity clothes!
